  1. The Sport Mode not dropping DR is great news.
  2. Everyone here. Use one of these two on windows, they give you encoding options and prores. Photon is a great option, and my current favorite. http://brightland.com/w/photon-manual/ As well as Rocky Mountains Move Converter http://sourceforge.net/projects/rockymountainsmovieconverter/
  3. For most of his video I agree (A7s review is particularly annoying.) But I think he did a great job with The Wonder List.
  4. Can't fault you on that one, good luck with the sale.
  5. Full URSA is never an option for me due to it's size. Absolutely ridiculous unless you have a full crew. I have considered the Cion for that reason. There are some incredible mounts available for the camera already http://www.ebay.com/itm/251852884794?rmvSB=true
  6. Yeah the big one for me are interchangable mounts, SSD usage, and that 3K mode. I want a nikon mount for the glass I own, and the ability to switch to PL if I rent. Blackmagic does not offer that ability.
  7. Yeah this is them just trying to save money until their next cam. It's a real shame about their timing on the camera and sensor choice.
  8. Actually there are a large amount of cinematographers that shoot on only one lens. Chinatown was shot entirely on a 40mm anamoprhic.
  9. Angenieux, not the RMC. Also have the old 20-35 Tokina which is a pretty nice lens as well.
  10. Currently shoot 90% with either a Voughtlander 40mm prime (god I love this lens) or a tokina 28-70. More and more I'm choosing 1 lens at the start of the shoot and sticking with it.
  11. I have a set of Nikon Primes & Tokina Zooms. Started building a Voightlander set of pancake primes. You can never have enough Unless you can't afford it.
  12. Hey ED, good to see your now using click bait titles to get views. I don't care if it's done in humor, putting Blackmagic 4.6K test in your video title is lame, stupid, and just a dick move. Also, get the hell off of the LUT use, how the f*** can skin tones be judged from such heavily altered footage.
  13. Yup, this is amazing. Out doing some 1080p tests right now.
  14. I don't know what happened but I'm getting insane compression errors in the video. Did you get 24p out of the NX1?
  15. I'm with Cinegain. An EVF is a personal requirement for video work. I'll never have my primary camera be a DSLR again.
  16. Also the high-ISO settings no longer turn blotchy with NR. 1080p mode is vastly improved in this area, 4K slightly so.

My go to for doc work. Built like a tank with great performance.
  18. Rolling shutter in 4K is improved. Audio gain issue is fixed (godsend for doc work) Nobody is talking about the amazing new feature of this update: "Added NEW MF Responsiveness mode (Capable of setting to Low, Medium, High focus angle in manual focus mode)." Customizable focus throw for Samsung lenses! I asked for this in a thread on future updates and they delivered, investing in a 50-150 because of this Overexposed this test a bit, sorry about that.
  19. Personally I use Premiere due to it's photoshop/After Effects/Speedgrade intergration. I like the idea behind the method that FCPX uses, but I work on PC systems that I build myself, so it's not an option.
  20. Also, the 105mm f2.5 AI-s is and 85mm AI-s f2 are the two best portrait prime lenses you can buy under $300.
  21. AF-D prime lenses are plastic with terrible focus rings compared to the all metal smooth-focusing AI-s series. Also certain lenses are significantly worse optically to make room for the AF system, like the 28mm f2.8. Unless you need the AF, get the AI-s series glass. They are so well regarded nikon still makes the AI-s series lenses, you can order them brand new.
  22. Fantastic flick, the stunt work, camera work, and directing was great. though was very disappointed with Tom Hardy's Max. I absolutely cannot believe the stunt at 17:46 in this video was real. That is insanity. The BTS talk on the cinematography was a little disheartening with Millers "We'll fix it in post mentality". But is also confirmed that I NEVER want to shoot a film in native 3D.
  23. I would have put the final scene before the credits, and dumped the zombie sequence. May have been fun to shoot but has nothing to do with the story and worse it's at a point where the audience just wants to see grandma's reaction, so your making the audience wait. Also: The power of editing is that you don't need to show every step of something. You don't need to show him fiddling with the bag, or every time he gets on or off the bike. The final scene with him on the porch should begin with him ringing the doorbell.
  24. Your wife is a great sport! Great look you got out of this, especially with the limited "crew". Animal work is actually surprisingly fun and well done, you should get them work on other sets. One thing I would work on is you are hanging on shots to long in the edit. Like the shot were you approach the front door, you hold on the door far to long before you come into frame. For a further example: When your dog barks to draw attention for the phone charger, you hold on him when you should immediately cut to your reaction, then the shot of your grabbing the charger should have less frames in the front and tail end of edit. Multiple instances of that happening. Those added pauses make me aware of the shot when I shouldn't be. Thanks for showing it!
