Hurt only in terms of storage space, MJPEG codec @ 500Mbps and 4:2:2 is actually a very high quality codec, the best codec among DSLRs and the only 422 codec used apart from cinema cameras.

Luke... I have to say THANK YOU for posting CLEAR and true statements about the 5Dmk4... It seems EVERYONE is blindly hating on this camera because it doesn't do a FF 4K@120 video, take photos, brush your teeth, comb your hair, and take out your trash. There is never going to be a PERFECT camera let alone one for under $2999.  And if ANYONE thinking a GH5 is going to be a stellar STILLS camera has got to be kidding themselves.  Canon has made no bones about the fact that the 5Dmk4 is a STILLs camera first and foremost with really good basic video features which are MORE than useable in capable hands.  I also find it VERY interesting the people who crap on canon the most never want to show their own demo reel of work.... just my two cents... thanks Luke and keep hope alive!! Let the bashing begin

P.S. Im very interesting in see how the Fuji X-T2 does for 4K even though it's a dreaded 1.7 crop I always liked Fuji Colors and its a pretty nice priced option.

The full height of the sensor is not used, the aspect ratio of the sensor is 3:2 or 1.5. The aspect ratio used for 4K DCI is 4096/2160=1.896:
    Sensor resolution for full frame video: 6720 x (6720/1.896) or 6720 x 3544
    4K crop diagonal.. i.e. sqrt of (6720^2 + 3543.75^2)
    sqrt(6720^2 + 3543.75^2)/4630.64 = 1.64x

    1DC S35 mode uses a cropped area of 3216 x 1809 photosites on the sensor. It does a 2 x 2 binning to get a 1608 x 904 RAW bayer and upscales to 1080p.
Since the sensor OLPF was not optmised for this binning mode, you get slightly more aliasing shooting S35, which also makes it perceptually sharper.

C100/300 uses 2 x 2 binning too but from a 3840x2160 sensor area and is colour-ware, the OLPF was optimised too. But if you sharpen the S35 image (best recorded externally as ProRes or DNxHD) a little, it matches perfectly with C100/300.

Be aware that the HDMI out on 1DC has a ~200ms lag

It's a known issue that 5D3 1DX 1DC and other Canon DSLRs don't work well with 256GB cards, better have multiple 128GB cards.
1DX II however improved support for larger capacity CF cards.

Yes, I've traveled with crew that has BMCC, C300, when going through X-ray check they almost always get asked to be taken out of the bag and inspected, never happens to 1DC because they've probably seen millions of DSLRs.

I'd avoid using CFL lights, even the professional ones like Kino Flo have visible green spike, their TLCI values are mediocre.

The reality is, there will be no C-log for 1DX II, period.
Only C-log has true ZERO in-camera sharpening.
    Rolling shutter in 4K is 25ms for 1DC, 15ms for 1DX II.

without C-log, 1DX II has more chroma noise in the shadow compared to 1DC when shooting Prolost Flat profile.
