Oh, don't worry I understand haha. It's also part the reason those China grips are so cheap, but we can all try and dream right? . Even a 3D printed version would suffice I think. Could you post the pictures from that thread? I'm not a member so I can't see anything... pretty stupid protocol.
  2. I've heard reports that the bigger cards (256gb) aren't as good as the smaller ones (<128gb), even though they are supposed to have the same specs. I haven't tested it myself, but read dialog from high up ML crew suggesting it to be so... perhaps they have progressed now?
  3. KB cards are pretty shitty imo. If you read around the net you will get a similar opinion. I know quite a few people that had them and their write speeds were just all over the place, not reliable at all. I'm running Lexar Professional UDMA7 128GB cards in my 7D and friends 5Dmkiiis and I've never experienced any issues. I can continuously write on 7D at the highest res possble and never had a problem. One thing you must be careful with is fake cards, it's a pretty big thing these days and those fake cards wont live up to their printed specs. If it's way slower than advertised send it back.

Have you ever seen how cheap China can pump out DSLR battery grips? I'm pretty sure someone could make one for under 150dollars and people would buy it for sure. I don't want a cage, just a battery grip style job. Maybe the problem is China needs something that already exists to copy? Either way even if it was 200-300 I think you underestimate peoples obsession for gear . I don't particularly like these fancy wooden grips, they are over-priced and too bulky for my tastes. I will agree that right now kitting out a BMMCC to an adequate form with SB and Monitor isn't worth it over a 5Dmkiii (personally).
  5. You can get a 7D for around 500usd I would sped the extra for that over the 50D if you've got the coin. 50D otherwise is a pretty good bargain, but has no sound.
  6. So when is someone going to make a seamless BMMCC grip that integrates smoothly with the body creating a DSLR type form factor and giving you new record and other important buttons? I thought this would have happened already. Surprised BM didn't release one themselves, also a slimmed down version of their new Ursa EVF, I bet they would sell a ton.
  7. It's 2/3inch not 1inch that is why it vignettes.
  8. 5D raw if you have the budget. 7D raw is also good if not.
  9. My tips (using 13inch retina second from top specs). - Use Resolve, such an easy workflow, colour grading is awesome if you watch a few tutorials (as is editing). There's many hidden features you wouldn't know about unless you find a good tutorial. - Use MLVFS if your comp can handle it, such an amazing concept. Mine is still too slow, so I use MLRawViewer to preview/select shots and then convert to DNG or Prores444, these edit and play easier in Resolve than any h.264 footage I edit. (there's also a few settings to make playback easier in Resolve that are a little hidden). - Find good Luts that you like and tweak from there. If you get to a point where you know how to expose for your Luts with only minor tweaks it's very easy to get a solid look. Here's a first quick test I did with 20mins filming 7D Raw. Obviously it's a bit harder when you need to film the action as well as nail the shot, but you get the idea of what your first attempts might look like.
  10. Why would one use search? Are you serious or just trolling? One would use search to find info relative to the questions he is asking forum members, this helps to not litter forum with same questions over and over again. EVF and Micro as keywords would have pulled up this thread with relevant info on EVF use with BMMCC which had been discussed only recently (on page 5). As for stating my opinion as "vague" I'm not really sure what else I can add. The EVF is of poor build quality, it's of a shitty plastic construction and likely will break if anything at all happens to it. The LCD itself is also of very poor quality, the resolution, brightness, viewing angle and accurate colour reproduction is far worse than any LCD that comes on a decent spec interchangeable lens camera these days. If you really had no other option you could use this EVF, but it's pretty much useless to rely on for anything other than framing a shot. The Loupe is worse quality than any 8dollar loupe you can buy on Ebay.
  11. Yes, I had it, that's what I'm talking about.
  12. I found it to be a total waste of money, but hey that's just my opinion.
  13. I wouldn't really say Caseys blogs rely on quality at all, in fact I would say most of the time the quality of the image is pretty average. Lots of shots he could easily just lock off the focus instead of having it on AF and glitching every now and again, but I guess he's free-styling it a lot and wants to be as flexible as possible. I think his image would look better with a gx85 and a small light 12-35 or something, also would be a lot easier to lug around than the setup he has (and smoother). I can't believe he hand holds that brick on the end of a gorilla pod everyday.
  14. Yep a great 3.5 still doesn't exist.
  15. I made that exact thing in the picture above before, it's a nasty POS. Not worth your 28bucks even, waste of time.
  16. Yeah I'd return it, if you can afford the CDNA there's no reason why you wouldn't get that. CDNA introduces almost zero extra artefacts to your image where as RF slaps it's ugly blue flares all over everything. Personally I can't stand the look of those flares, they aren't even the nice type of blue. I still use a lot of dual focus setups but I agree it's not that handy especially in run and gun or situations with not much time to prepare the shot, it's easy to think you're in focus when you're actually slightly off. I guess that all just becomes better with experience and understanding your scopes well. Still if I were doing paid shoots I would invest in a CDNA no questions.
  17. RF isn't worth it in my opinion, if you're spending decent cash to get a half-decent scope you might as well pay the bit extra and also get a core DNA. Buy once, cry once. SLR magic also have horrible looking coatings, I hope they fix these issues someday in the future as it's good for the market to have competition, right now though there's none, Rectilux is miles ahead. I mean what's the point getting one of these systems if every time you review the footage you wish you were shooting with it off...

    GH5 Prototype

I hope it has an over-sized HDMI port and on sensor swap-able pixels.
  19. We all laugh but it still arguably shoots a better movie than consumer dslrs...
  20. Sorry I thought you said you'd prefer to use magic lantern, not that you don't want to use it... in which case I'm not sure.

    EOSHD C-LOG

My 7D did pretty well, I will test my eosm when in a month or so.
  22. I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall here so your "hammering" verb is fairly relevant in this case ... I don't actually want an E-mount or M43 on the Ursa, I meerly used it as an example of how a mount could technically be better than using a stock m43 mount. I don't expect that BM will do it and I understand it requires a lot of work, it was just a suggestion (which I know some people here would also like to see), if no one can understand this properly I don't really know what to say. Good day.
