Very nice. Soon to put this one on the website -
That's the plan. Today I finished a major engine rewrite, to greatly accelerate supporting new cameras. Its the most ambitious work yet, that self calibrates and auto iterates. It was enormously difficult, and I discovered legacy code mistakes dating back to the very beginning.
Sounds fantastic.
Cannot wait to see your work for the S1(H) also.

8 bit 420.
Probably the worst thing you could do for both V-Log and greenscreen. -
Really no issues when staying on the native ISO and exposing properly. Didn't even had any issues on the GH5. Would avoid it on the S1H though.
Also before keying convert to Rec709. After keying you can back to V-Log which is lossless in Davinci Resolve Studio with its CST function.
There are lossless workflows using Aces also inside Fusion/Resolve or even After Effects using OpenColorIO.

2.5K looks bad on 4K screens though, lots of smear and macro blocking especially on YouTube - and you can still select streaming quality manually.

Or chrome which can be color managed in chrome via about:flags url: Force color profile
Select sRGB (standard screens) or DCI-P3 (Mac and OLED) to enable color transform.
Still a bit pink as Alex already mentioned. -

How do you find the image quality compares with the C200 otherwise?
There's no "off" setting for noise reduction?
Does the S1 suffer from the same issues?
That's a shame, I thought this camera–specifically 6k–would be very good for low light.
The C200 doesn't have any NR issues in RAW. I don't like the strong filtered MP4 output though. Color in C-Log 2(RAW) is fantastic. Much different beast though.
The S1 has the noise reduction and gamut related issues fixed but we S1H owners have to wait much longer probably because the RAW update isn't ready yet... -

Mate, you should really think about renting gear...
Renting the Pocket 4K atm for almost every shooting atm while the S1H stays home. ?

@deezid Don't hold your breath. If anyone getting RAW first it the z6...and that's about six months overdue. Also...what camera you going to choose for your trip?
Thinking about selling my stuff and get a pocket 6k again...
Just needs the new internal speedbooster with ir cut and olpf, stabilized lenses (24-105 F4, 35mm F2) and 2 SWX Powerbase and lots of Canon Lp-e6 batteries for gimbal usage.
2 minutes ago, HockeyFan12 said:Can you just turn down noise reduction to fix this or is this a problem still? Is it a problem at every ISO or just high ISOs?
It's a problem at every iso setting in V-Log.
And it gets really bad in the 6k modes or higher ISO values.

Thanks for your reply.
I really don’t understand why Panasonic do not try to fix it fast??
I think the advantage of S1h is to be used without any external recorder and ghosting issues are really a problem to deliver professional results...
Exactly. Since I'm shooting in Nigeria and Bali quite soon, I want a proper image from the camera itself and not by adding another external piece requiring more batteries, rigging, redundant cables etc.

Hi everybody,
does anyone have news about ghosting issues with the S1H?
Is Panasonic concerned about it?
Yes we do.
Let's say they are aware but more interested in delivering their RAW update than fixing it...
In case you want to see what temporal noise reduction does in extreme cases (like on this camera - especially in 6K), watch this example: -

this is shot at (0) and maybe was better to expose a little more...
It's fine at 0 using this camera, there's just a tiny amount of noise exposing to the center.
The image looks thicker and there's the great looking roll-off when exposing this way. Also since firmware 1.3 there's no more smear or even ghosting in darker areas.

My CUDA performance is so low, people using MacBooks make fun of me. Needless to say, my editing sessions usually involve a lot of cussing and drinking.
Uh oh, I do the same with people using MacBooks which are quite slow (and much more expensive) in comparison to mine haha

Just to be clear, this is based on your own findings?
And rest assured I avoid using premiere all the time Hopefully there are no issues with using S1 VLOG in Resolve.
Based on what Cinema5D measured and own findings as well.
Should be even better with latest firmware 1.3 witch has many NR and gamut mapping improvements and doesn't cause any artifacts such as ghosting, smearing and blotches as well as blue clipping anymore.
About Resolve: At least in Davinci Resolve Studio it runs flawlessly with a proper NVIDIA GPU (1660 and above).
-
The S1 has almost 2 stops more dynamic range over the A73 and much, much better color science. Also the 10 bit codec is solid, just avoid using Premiere with standard settings.

At the same price, what's the difference between this LUT and the One LUT? (Aside from light source options)
https://www.j-ballard.com/theonelut
That's one of the worst luts made for this camera and does in no way match with an ARRI Alexa while Sage's conversion is spot on.

Someone noticed this here?

How do people look up to him? -

TRUMP’S TWEET: I just opened an Apple plant in Texas.
I'm pretty sure he means what he says.
He pretty much behaves like the Cartman character in South Park. -

I agree the S1H 120fps doesn’t look right. Makes me want to see other samples. Almost looks out of focus in the watery areas. Andrew have you experienced issues with the S1H 120-1080?
yep, noticed as well on mine. Never touched the mode again after the encounter lol
Also his rolling shutter 6K sample shows ghosting.
And there are gamut issues in the low light sample.
Really hoping for many fixes.
Loving the IBIS, dynamic range, color science, battery life and general usability. But there are things that could be better indeed. -
Wow, finally a GPU with the performance of a GTX1650 found in $600 laptops!
Nice work, Apple.
If Apple continues to innovate like that I guess we can expect 2080 MaxQ like performance in only 10 years. -

I know man. I get excited about prores raw, then I come back to reality and realize it wont work in resolve. I only work in resolve these days and use a Blackmagic mini panel for grading, so I have 0 interest in using any other NLE.
heard about Edit Ready being able to convert it to regular ProRes on Windows. So I may be able to do some exposure and wb adjustments and export to 10 bit ProRes 422.
-
Yep, pretty much.
The color science is far superior, but the codec struggles with shadow recovery.
Cannot wait till ProRes RAW arrives. Better shadow recovery in case it's 12 bit and no more temporal noise reduction (smoothing, smearing, trailing, ghosting and so called after images).
Still don't know if BMD is ever going to implement it into Davinci Resolve though. -

I understand you are waiting for the RAW output with the S1H, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
Actually couldn't care less. Using Davinci Resolve for basically everything which doesn't have any ProRes Raw support.
Just being impatient and annoyed that we S1H users have to wait much longer probably for the important fixes the S1 will receive on Nov. 19th because on the S1H RAW not being ready. The fixes may not even arrive this year. The S1H wasn't listed on the list mentioning which Panasonic cameras will receive updates this year.
Panasonic tends to bundle features and fixes all-together in huge firmware updates all at once...1 hour ago, AaronChicago said:9 times out of 10 im using my RED for commercial or beauty - where accurate color matters. I haven’t been as successful matching the bmpcc in those catagories.
I noticed the same.
V709 (the S1H and S1 being a bit on the red side), IPP2 Rec709 and Alexa-X-2 are really close in how they look. Accurate color, great tonality, taking care of saturated clipping for the most part, extremely smooth hightlight roll-off - something at least the Ext. Film conversion for BMD Film V4 doesn't really deliver.
Reason why I made the Lut (55M PXK) in the first place, to have a starting point with similar characteristics. -

Any news from Pana or Atomos about Raw?
Just waiting.
The RAW development may be the reason why we S1H users have to wait for the (slight) color science and especially temporal noise reduction update a while longer while the S1 will receive it next week...

So that may actually fix the dark and lifeless reds I've had? Anyway, looks like a great improvement. :)
