  1. Off topic but how is Gunpowder? Is their hair growing back okay and they're starting to heal?
  2. I'd wait till the 5D iv is announced/released. Canon Rumors reported a rumor that it will be much more video oriented. If you can hold off and are not in a hurry that would be my advice. Stinks that Olympus doesn't have better video- you've got some nice glass and the 5 axis image stabilization is so useful. If the 5D iv turns out to be nothing special, I'd wait till the Nikon D5 sensor is put in a cheaper full frame body.
  3. Once they start putting that D5 sensor in other cameras you'll be able to get by with f4 for low light situations. I saw some high iso pics over on Nikon Rumors and it's amazing what that sensor can do.
  4. I think it looks unfunny and generally terrible. It'll probably do well.
  5. The price on Samsung's own lenses should start dropping soon. Not much movement yet but keep an eye out. http://www.adorama.com/g/SamsungNX1andNX500Savings
  6. I recently watched a vimeo vid you made about gear for the BMPCC. Was fantastic and you're a funny guy.
  7. Pentax makes a 43mm full frame photography lens which I think is the perfect focal length. The equivalent would be something like 28mm on a Super 35 sensor.
  8. They shot with the Arri Alexa and while I'm not sure of the crop factor I think it's Super 35 (1.5 when compared to full frame). So a 32mm lens on it is equivalent to a 48mm lens on something like a Canon 5dmkiii.
  9. Heard an interview with the DP for The Witch. He said almost all of the film was shot with a 32mm. They used legit cinema lenses though.

    Nikon DL

They claim the stabilization is good for five stops- I'm guessing it will work with video as well? Interested to see how good the autofocus is.

My apologies. DP Review says it doesn't have "true" weather sealing. "While the progress in technology is impressive, lack of true weather sealing, a touchscreen, or direct AF point selection with a dedicated joystick or control will continue to be problematic for some." But even if it does, which APS e mount lenses are there which are weather sealed and can take advantage of it? I see a number of comments on DP Review saying it's not weather sealed. You might want to go and correct them.

If it works for you great. No reason to be insulting just because some of us dare to point out flaws from our perspective. It doesn't have weather sealing, a variangle screen, nor ibis. Those things matter to me- there's nothing ridiculous about that complaint. It also has what I consider to be a shitty lens lineup when it comes to lenses that are both stabilized and able to take full advantage of the autofocus. I could probably do without the weather sealing, screen, and ibis. Not sure I can tolerate the lens lineup though.

If you want to take advantage of the amazing autofocus it's a disappointing lens lineup. As far as the camera- no weather sealing, no ibis, and no variangle screen.
  14. How do some of you people upvote tugela for going on the attack and needlessly acting like a passive-aggressive dickhead to the op? Depressing. Do you regularly go up to strangers and insult them tugela?
  15. I'd get the A7s new, with warranty. Not sure if you're seeing similar prices in the UK: http://photorumors.com/2015/10/22/deal-of-the-day-sony-alpha-a7s-camera-now-850-off-us-warranty/#comments Also, if it was me I'd just keep shooting with the 5Diii and not bother with the A7s. Seems like a lot of Canon people end up very dissatisfied when they switch. I guess it goes the other way as well but, make sure you prefer the A7s and it's worth the money. With Magic Lantern the 5Diii is capable of gorgeous footage.
  16. Thanks. I recall reading reading that autofocus worked on the LA7200 and can't see why it wouldn't work on these focus through lenses.
  17. I haven't seen anything with the 2x and those cameras. That is a big and heavy lens. I'd think you'd definitely need some kind of support. Would love to see what it could do though. That slow mo in 2x anamorphic would be cool. You probably won't be able to use the wider angles without getting some vignetting. You know, the VM lens by the anamorphic shop might work with it. It would be way cheaper and is 1.5x. It's designed to work with smaller sensor cameras like the RX100. Not too many vids of it out there but there's one on vimeo a guy took of Budapest with the BMPCC that looks pretty good. I think it's only around a couple hundred bucks.
  18. I think it pairs much better with the RX10. But 1.33 just doesn't give near enough of the anamorphic look imo.
  19. Does autofocus with the taking lens work on focus through lenses?
  20. In general, how many megapixels can these vintage anamorphic lenses resolve and how does that compare to say a Canon or Nikon lens from the 70s or 80s?
  21. I heard an interview with the producer of the film Tangerine who said this lens was key to them using the iphone.
