  1. "Canon Takes 4K Seriously with the $799 M50" Wtf are Nofilmschool smoking https://nofilmschool.com/2018/02/canon-finally-takes-4k-seriously-799-m50
  2. I wasn't too sure about Eterna but Shultz has sold me
  3. Obviously PDAF wins every time but I'm just saying in 1080p Panasonic's AF is quite usable for vlogging and you get the benefit of IBIS, light and varied lenses, better quality 1080p.
  4. Panasonic's AF actually works really well in 1080p - competitive with dpaf. So if it's AF people want, they needn't stick with Canon.
  5. Plenty of vloggers walk around with their cameras and hold stuff up in front of it or turn the camera around to look at points of interest
  6. The camera also has the worst battery life of any camera I've seen https://***URL removed***/reviews/canon-eos-m50 (235 shots compared to 295 on the M6 and 400 on the a6300)
  7. This is possibly the most out of control thread I've ever seen in this forum. I think we should get a thread lock @Andrew Reid and start a new clean thread with just camera info and debate.
  8. We weren't complaining. we were just speculating what compromise would be made. For the record, the Fuji xe3 has 4k with autofocus and no crop and is a smaller camera.
  9. Not sure who this post is aimed at.. I don't think anyone here is expecting anything uncompromised. Thinking about it tho, I will be surprised if there is a crop because it wouldn't be vlogger friendly
  10. Haha I don't know what your objective in this thread is really.. Are you trying to pull everyone to buying an NX1? Since the camera is several years old, I reckon many readers have already considered it and skipped past it (or tried it already). The NX1 is actually 550g without battery (http://www.samsung.com/uk/cameras/nx1-16-50mm-premium-s-lens/). The battery is 80g http://www.samsung.com/au/camera-accessories/nx-battery-bp1900/ which brings the total to 630g, so still less than the Fuji but not 123g less
  11. http://camerasize.com/compact/#698,772,ha,t They're about the same size. GH5 is slightly heavier by 50 grams.
  12. I think you could have grouped some options under one: image quality. DR and noise, if not also colour and resolution. As it is, I can't vote for any one of those things above handling even though I find it to be the most important spec although then again, if I really valued image quality over handling then I would have bought a bmpcc by now..
  13. And you guys complain that a camera doesnt have 10bit..
  14. Thanks. I used a prototype Canon 550d for it.
  15. I actually feel the opposite @Mattias Burling. Since video is becoming more convenient to do and better quality, I have been wanting to do more video recently because of the element of sound and movement in the picture. When done right it gives more of a sense of being there than a picture. And especially if your family or friends are involved, it makes it more personal and historical. In years time you may forget how a person or place sounded, but you will be reminded when you watch the footage again.
  16. Haven't heard about this model before. Seems quite pricey. What drew you to it?
  17. I just cant imagine that this 4k isnt horribly crippled in some way. Looking forward to tests.
  18. Unlikely. It looks more like the the M5, which I believe was $1000. Some nice details to note: On/Off switch is on the right side The camera strap shoulders are fixed like in their DSLR bodies. No more noisy loose things! Overall there seem to be less buttons and dials than the M5 unfortunately
  19. How is this thing still heavier than the D5500 despite being so stripped back
  20. "Frame cutout from 4K movie is possible" The makes it sound like the default 4k has no crop?? I currently am camera-less and this is starting to sound like it ticks a lot of boxes for me. Size, ergos, IQ in video and stills. Just hoping for the 35mm f1.8 to be announced too. Also fingers crossed for $1000 or less.
  21. Nice grade. I'm guessing there were no secondary colour corrections? The telltale orange tones of Panasonic are still there.
  22. Either the 4k is gonna look like 1080 or it will be heavily cropped, or both.
  23. For a stills and video hybrid camera what do you think is it's closest competitor? I believe the only thing close is the Sony a7r iii. When you take into account stills quality, 4k and 1080 quality in good and bad light, features such as log profile, 120fps, phase AF (contrast AF is quite distracting for continuous shooting), ergonomics. The thing that makes a7r iii better imo are some things that Fuji stupidly skipped on such as bigger battery and headphone jack. (Disclaimer: above comments are going by previous experience with the XT2, not with the XH1 itself)
