    hello everyone -
i would like to share some informations with you:
i´ve got an isco pre36 lens. and i always had problems with these "undefined" flairs in case of straight spotlight into the lens.
the isco is based on a 35 mm nikon lens (aps-c sensor). i found a way to eleminate theses "false flairs", like hans punk described it:
i cut out masks with differnt innercircle sizes: from 17-30 mm (see photo) and found out that 21mm inner circle diametre is the perfect compromise between getting rid of the problem and not loosing to much light on the sensor.
here is a little trick: i found out that the old arriflex-lenscap from the bajonett mount (backside of the lens) fits perfectly on the pre 36. i screwed a hole with a diametre of 21 mm in ....here is the result:

Hey Tito! Thanks  This project was the most challenging and a tuff one to estimate. 2 factors that causes it to take so long was for the first time ever I had an SD card fail. I lost my entire first day of footage. I spent the next three months having data recovery attempt to get it back with no luck. The other factor was most of my long shots had dust and specs because it was super run and gun and I was car camping. I looked like Rambo. Soooo I had to buy and learn Mocha Pro to remove spots from footage. Another month gone. My workflow is bananas also. I keep each shot in its native resolution. This is a mix of 8k, 6k and 5k because I was switching between 1.5x and 1.75x 4:3 and 16:9. I finished on a 5k timeline but I can always go back to each clip which is 30 secs or lonnger. There is around 180 shots in this and another 175 shots I did not use or process. Some are reframed and some are completely different shots that I did not use. I learned many valuable lessons on this shot. Make sure you always have a back lens cap on and use an air bower would have saved me over a month of my time

You can get an adapter for the FVD that gives it 72mm threads, and then just use a step ring to connect it to the front of your 40-Compact.

That makes total sense. In a business environment- which I think most of us would like to find ourselves in if we can make it happen- it's not practical to jump through that many hoops for something a lot of clients frankly don't even notice. (unless you've been hired specifically for it) Those square fronts are going to be sick! How long until you think you'll be able to get them?

I heard my name and *poof!*
It's not that I don't like the look of the Hypergonar (that's of my most eye-pleasing tests), but all the hassle that comes from bigger setups. Not just from Hypergonars, but the whole big projection scope lot.
I'm a weakling - aka I don't do too well carrying a lot of weight - and I don't like how long the setups get. Attached is a photo I took of the setup for that video. This is the Contax 135/2.8 behind the Hypergonar, and the FVD is at the front of the system for single focus. I don't realistically see myself shooting something with that. I fear it'd snap at the mount, or be impossible to balance on a tripod/shoulder rig.
Then I don't like how narrow the FOV gets, forcing you to telephoto taking lenses.
If not properly rigged and supported, you end up getting some angle on the lens itself, shifting your focus plane and rendering weird out-of-focus areas that shouldn't exist.\
I also get what @Julien416 is saying about me being bothered by projection scopes. I tested a lot of them. For three years every week almost. So we built this weird relationship in which their flaws started to really get on my nerves. There are a few exceptions and surprises out there, but the hassle just makes it unbearable for me. On top of that, I'm on the cusp of getting a set of LOMO squarefronts, which changes the game completely for me.
I shoot a lot of low-budget indie stuff in which the shooting itself is ALWAYS in a rush, so adding an element that's time consuming and not everyone can understand gets immediately pushed aside (which is why most of what I shoot is NOT anamorphic and I want to change that).

Tito Ferradans reacted to Timotheus in SLR Magic Rangefinder HACK using donor glass
(repost from the Anamorphic Shooters group on FB, but I thought it would be interesting for here as well ☺️)
    - SLR Magic Rangefinder hack -
I was getting a bit tired of the blue blobbin' and bleeding flares of the SLR Magic Rangefinder. With the modified Century Optics wide-angle adapters being used for single focus rehousings (by POOLi™) I started thinking of using similar glass as replacement into the otherwise fine Rangefinder helicoid. One 0.82x wide-angle adapter seemed very close in dimensions: the Fujinon WCV-82SC, also sold as RCV-82SC, and also sold under the JVC brand. Note the 82mm front thread, which is the same as the RF.
Found one cheap, disassembled it and sure enough, the two elements are very close in size to those found in the RF.
Rear element was easily replaced because it fits just fine, using the retainer ring on the back of the RF. But be very sure to put it in the right direction, very important! Front element was a bit more tricky as it is somewhat thinner than the RF front element, ending up 'too deep' in the helicoid. Now it focused way past infinity and not close. So I used some step rings to lay the front element on and bring it more forward. I then used the original retainer ring from the WA adapter to fix the front element in the helicoid. Tadaa...a new single focus in an old housing. Pro's:
    - wider shots possible
    - no more blue bleeding flares
    - close focus is a bit better also, I measured around 90cm, compared to listed MFD of the Rangefinder of 110cm.
    Cons:
    - somewhat more distortion at the edges and more CA
    - less sharp than RF in corners, but when using 2x anamorphics this is somewhat mitigated as the sharp center gets stretched out.
    - requires some fiddling with step rings behind the front element as spacer to calibrate focus range.
    Cheers, Tim
P.S. You can find some (boring) test shots in the Facebook post.

Thanks! I did not do anything in post to minimize breathing. The Hard core DNA is for 16mm and 35mm projection scopes and the ProtoDNA is for us weirdo's who love shooting with 8mm anamorphic scopes.

I sold my Kowas and my Rectiluxes a while ago, and just recently got a GH5, so my timing is all wrong. hahaha.
There are older versions of the Helios that have 13 blades, that's gotta be smoother.

You can see the hexagonal bokeh from the Contax in my early tests using the 3FF-W. Not the loveliest shape, I'll admit.

It's rare for an adapter to surprise me, and the Anamorph-X 1.33x Pro from Letus achieved that. It allows you to go super wide and it holds up image quality like very few other adapters out there.
Flares could be improved, but as these are still being made, we can just email Letus a bunch and get things changed - which is another great advantage of this lens over vintage adapters.
What do you think of the footage and the results?
