Now, why Samsung did not enable this in the menu I have no idea... It's fully working in full resolution JPEGs and SRW files.
I have not time to test whether image quality suffers, but it looks OK to me
Could someone check if it works with NX1 as well?

That would be great! But everyone here would probably appreciate if you would have more than 100 years :-D  (say 150Mbps would be nice).  But I understand, that was just an example.... 

My plan is to see if I can replace Pro bitrate from 80 Mbps with something else, say 47 Mbps (my age  :)) for example, without otherwise touching the menu system or firmware internals.

Quite a few things and some of them downright dangerous.
I think I will let others post / discuss them [they are visible to anyone with a camera, no skill required to get to them], for the moment I prefer to concentrate on the word "bitrate" rather than on "screenshot" - if you get my drift :-)

I sent them email that SDK they provided is not for camera itself but just for remote control. I have asked them about NX1 SDK again but I really do no believe that they have it or they will provide it... but better than nothing.

WOW, I have just received email from SAMSUNG to download link to NX1 SDK!
(well I am quite scared to upload it somewhere, but I think I will do it). I will try to download it in the evening and let you know.
Chant, is it the one you have? Do you think it will be useful? I am not any IT expert, so I really do not know...

I was thinking about more reputable sources like ESOHD
Actually it would be nice for it to go up on some sites like gizmodo or techradar. Places where people tend to be hackers/programmers first with a passion for film oppose to here where I feel like most people are cinematographers who have a passion for tech second.
Agreed I might have got a liltle excited to say it is easy to "hack". But the fact it will run Linux scripts from the SD card for things like focus stacking is really easy.

Good idea, the angle could be:
Samsung abandons their loyal nx1 customers, but a community tries to keep the future of the camera alive.

Here is a quick video showing the NX1 and NX500 SD Card Hack for Focus Buttons.
This program allows you to record up to 6 focal points, these are stored on the SD card and will work after a camera restart.
This works for photography, especially good for storing infinity focal point to re-use when it is dark for Astro Photography.
Works in video allows you to do focus pulling from one focal point to another.
