I've just finished filming a short film.  We used 5D Raw, A7s + speed booster, GH4 + speed booster, and the XC10.  The best looking and "organic moving" footage in my opinion came from the 5D Raw and the xc10 in 4k.  The a7s was the 3rd best and the gh4 was the sharpest "out of camera".  We could have comfortably shot the whole thing on the XC10.

Unsharpened ungraded CLOG frame grabs. Having a 1 inch sensor is no hindrance for a shooter like me...i own multiple cameras and i light my shoots.  I'm invested in canon gear, it uses the same batteries as the 5D3, has good battery run time, doesn't overheat and captures excellent video quality that compliments 5D Raw. I don't have to carry around a 25lb camera bag with various lenses and accessories to be able to shoot dynamically with the xc10.  The only accessory I carry is a variable nd filter.  I like to minize rigging as much as possible and I don't want an xlr input on this form factor, a rode videomic pro is good enough.  The only thing i would like is a constant f/2.8 and true DPAF.  I wouldn't even bother with a C100-300 if it had those 2 features.

Ordered. These picture profiles look fantastic.  Im running a CLOG comparison between the 5D3 h264, XC10 clog HD and 4K.  Later on I'll run it against 5D3 Raw and the C100MK2
    UPDATE:
wow...these clog profiles are really good! The CLOG profile is pretty spot on by my estimation.  The first 4 images are of 5D3 h264 f/5.6 @ 3200 ISO, the next 2 are XC10 HD and the next 3 are XC10 4K...both set to f/4.0@ 2000ISO.  I have a wedding shoot this weekend and I'm definitely going to shoot with the CLOG profile over the neutral profile on the 5D3.

Short test of the new C-log profile in differentes situations of light and contrast. Graded only with Filmconvert using c300 log profile.
This was a very first attempt and was a real production for a wedding video but I push Iso to 3200 without problem and even in 12.800 noise is better than prolost profile. Being a log profile skintones work great.

Not that I mind, just saying. I actually don't get the big deal about minuscule crop factors. An extra .14x crop factor just means you have to take .14 steps back... Problem solved.

I think the point really is this... It is what it is. These are the specs Canon has decided on. Now it's up to us to decide if we want to buy one, or go a different route. You gotta love the free market.
I, personally, would take this over an equivalently priced Sony any day of the week. The codec may be outdated but it's stable, has beautiful motion cadence, and requires less processing power. Sure you need more storage, but storage is cheap nowadays, so no biggie.
I own a Canon XC10 and a Panasonic GX85. I love them both for different reasons and they both have a place in my tool box.

I've gotten that weird ghosting before, but I haven't noticed it since I've updated to the newest firmware, though I haven't been shooting a lot of 4k lately. I do notice weird black dots over the image that looks like dirt. I think it shows up at higher iso's but haven't spent the time to test it yet. Here are a few still frame c-log shots. These are all ungraded straight out of the camera, just exported via resolve.

Yes it's that smooth.  Not that i can tell, but if you use it in 4K it definitely uses more power and the exhaust vent is on more...but it's nothing noticeable.  Below is not my video but some good examples of hand held work.

I import into resolve, grade and export out as prores.

Also 4K only records to the Cfast card and HD records to the SD card only.  The build quality of the XC10 is great.  The view finder works well in bright shooting environments and for RunnGun in good lighting it is my favorite camera to shoot with. The 5 axis + lens stabilization + clog + light weight + viewfinder + autofocus + 4k make it very fun to shoot with.  Low light interiors not so much...you will need to light but was recently improved via firmware update. I did just picke up a C100 MK2 to handle more challenging lighting situations, but any other time i i'll prefer to reach for the XC10.  CLOG is great too.  It seems soft when you look at it but load it into resolve and it sharpens/grades surprisingly well.  I'm betting the 4k high bitrate grades better than the CLOG for the C100.  If I get some time this weekend i'll do a comparison shoot with both.

Kept my word and returned to the XC10.  I love it.  The first time I had it i didn't play with the setting enough to learn how to shoot with it properly.  It is an awesome little camera that is very underrated. Here are some stills created from its 4k clips.

They have been using it for quite some time with great results. Definetelly shows a segment where the camera is great.
This is mainly a "film maker" forum. But we sometimes seem to forget that not everyone of Panasony and Canikons customers are.
Some are videomakers like Jared and some are still photographers, again like Jarred.
Thats why I sometimes have an issue with the "only an idiot would..", "thats crap because..." and "why does Canon..." type of attitude on every single product that doesnt also serve as a perfect tool for shooting a narrative movie.

I used the 5DMKiii for a whole day's shoot and it did not skip a beat for us.
    https://vimeo.com/122567314

I have also used the BMPCC a couple of times and whenever I have the choice, I would go for the 5Dmkiii 99% of the time.
The audio is much better on the Canon and the FF look is much more appealing to me.
Plus I prefer the overal image and colour from the 5D over the BMPCC.

I'll try to upload some 5Dmkiii DNG sequences for you in that other thread tonight.
