They are not just competing, they are engaged in a war to kill the competition and they are almost done. They killed 3DR and its solo, they killed the GoPro drone attempt with the Karma (the Mavic was announced only a few days after the Karma in 2016). Now there is only a bunch of Chinese competitors left like Walkera, Yuneec and Autel. All in bad shape, they recently announced layoff. They are also way behind in terms of technology. Once DJI got rid of the competition they will slow down.
Interesting, nothing is impossible with DJI. We'll find out soon.

Good news: the new Panasonic GH5S will be the first stills camera ever to accept Line in.

The price won't be much different than in the US for brand new stuff but the warranty might be a pain to manage later on. Some camera are also only availablre with Japanese menu... You would find better deal in China and Hong Kong. However for used stuff there are a lot of gems and Japanese people are crazy with gears, you can find 40 years old lenses brand new with packaging!
The main stores are Map camera, Yodobashi Camera, and BIC in Shinjuku

It's essential to keep the forum organised though. Completely flat structure might work well for lower traffic sites like Personal-View.com but not here.

So your advice is to continue the ENDLESS threads about how a Alexa is better than a Cellphone on here, and the GH5s just sucks to some, and still ending up nobody, including me post shit for movies or shorts wise. This place lately is becoming All Talk and no Action.

Man somehow this thread went from DJI killer to new DJI announcement participation thread

Having said that I am eagerly await what DJI will come out with! If they can fix the 50/60p quality issue and add 4k60 while being lighter/smaller than mavic I am all in!

A quick video demo of the new prodder in action.
All controls are real time with feedback of the parameters on the LCD screen.
The video shows a recording of the G7 being controlled (and of it being controlled as the changes are live when its recording) but will obviously work with the other Lumix cameras.
    Parameters controlled are :

Profile type (Standard, cinelike D etc)
    Contrast
    Noise Reduction
    Sharpness
    Saturation Hue
and ISO so you can see any effect changes that may or may not occur with your current settings at different ISOs

Now there may be no bugs in the software but there certainly was in the video. A real life bug crawling across the Colour Checker!

I've built prototypes of an iscorama-style single-focus adapter, but its really only suitable for shorter focal lengths in the 35mm to 75mm range.  Also, its a bit large, and the front element moves during focusing, which may cause some issues with matte boxes.  I'm also building a second type better suited for longer focal lengths in the 75 to 200mm range.  I'm still debating whether to modify these for internal focusing, which would be good for heavy-duty cine use, but would make the adapters larger, heavier, and more expensive.  To be honest, I've put the adapter project on hold until I get a few focal lengths in my anamorphic prime series completed.

Was thinking of doing a review of the G9. The G85 was a good bargain. This time, price has shot up.
I like the ergonomics of the body better than the GH5 -
The top-LCD and layout changes make for a more comfortable camera There is no lag when finishing a clip. You hit record and it stops immediately The EVF is massive... However, has anybody else noticed the DRAMATIC pincushion distortion in the viewfinder... It's really not nice. Very distracting.
AF seemed better than the GH5. It was as quick to do a one-time AF-S in movie mode as in stills mode. GH5 is slower to do that. The AF during 4K was not up to Sony or Canon's best, but it was again seemingly better than the GH5 in the brief time I tried it out. Does not come close to A7R III for video AF overall though.
Pic profiles... The lack of Hybrid LOG Gamma is a shame. Sony did not feel the need to pull SLOG or HLG from their flagship stills camera (A7R III)... Panasonic apparently did. But then again, Sony did not include them in the A9 so they are not entirely sane either.
All in all, G9 or GH5? I'd say GH5. Now they are practically the same price, but one is 10bit with HDR and one is 8bit SDR, it's a bit too silly to lose that for the sake of slightly better body handling and AF.
And the BIG viewfinder with that much distortion gives me pause for thought as well. I am all for big viewfinders, but do you really want so much pincushion in EVERY shot?

Very unlikely. One inch sensor would require a larger camera and lens, thus bigger motors and gimbal to handle the load with higher ground clearance and larger vibration dampening system (=higher skids, bigger battery to handle the front heavy CG, etc.). There no free meal. I'm not sure that you can design a compact drone like the Mavic with a one inch sensor.
The Typhoon Plus is interesting, the main point of this drone is redundancy. Thanks to it's 6 motors, the Typhoon can withstand a single propeller, ESC, or motor failure whereas any quadcopter would spin-crash to death in case of prop/motor failure (note: the Inspire 2 has ESC redundancy).
Unfortunately I doubt that Autel and Walkera can shake DJI technological and commercial advantage. Autel is facing DJI lawsuit and they announced drones in the past that failed to materialized (X-Star 3 & Venture II). They are lagging in terms of technology. Their RC link are way behind DJI lightbrige and ocusync digital links. The Typhoon plus is based on a classical PX4 flight controller.
DJI owns the market. The pathetic attempts like the 3DR Solo and the GoPro Karma have been commercial failures. DJI will probably announce a new Phantom or an updated Mavic (higher bitrate, etc.). Perhaps a new Osmo or X7 compatibility.

HLG is 10bit not 8bit. And if you wanted to to 60p then I'd suggest 4k cine-D 8bit rather than 1080 10bit hlg.

That was back at the GH5 release date and the NLE people hadn't got their act into gear. Was fixed after a couple of weeks.
