Emanuel reacted to BrorSvensson in Sony Will Announce the A6500
They tried that with the a7 and a7r, im sure they looked at the numbers from that and decided that what they are doing now is more profitable.

G7 / G70 (Germany) and the GX85 / GX80 (outside US) / GX7 Mark II (Japan) are the best bang for the buck out there, nowadays and ever, so far...
Albert, BTW, left his NX1 for a G7 ;-)

So apart from the overheating, the lack of 42 mp still files, and possibly a more user-friendly (though bulkier) form factor, the gap between the A6xxx series and A7Rii has narrowed considerably. For manual shooters, a focal reducer can get you the full frame look, and the 6K -> 4K S35 video mode on both bodies is probably very similar.
For those who can't afford an A7Rii, or the expensive full frame G lenses that add several thousand onto your investment, this could be an option to get comparable results.

Yet another NX1 thread hijack. How many more new camera threads are going to get the same treatment?
SMH.
It uses the new LSI, which they claimed big improvements with the A99II. This should see improvement, but how much is anybody's guess at this point.

I WANT to have an APS-C camera like the A6500. But without comparing it to anything else... and without actual more hands-on experiences... you might as well lock up this thread, because there wouldn't be much to discuss except 'I feel cheated, I just bought the A6300!'?
I'm not a Panasonic/M43 fanboy. I'm a camera fanboy. I use whatever works best.
-- neways, I'll just add another video:

Emanuel reacted to John Brawley in Dont forget Olympus (em1ii)
I'm not really sure where this shared LSI stuff comes from. Even if it's true they are different sensors and totally different technology approaches.
Olympus really are leaps ahead in the way they do IBIS. There are fundamental differences even between the em5 and the em1 for example.
Im fairly certain the HDMI output on the 1 will be 8 bit :-) (though I've been wrong before)

Take a look on this cinematic outcome... To whom comes from film realm, such called 'softness' (when not missing focus) is a bless :-)
PS:
Thanks for the compliments on 'I Cento Passi' (dal cuore : ) Speaking of missing links... our memory is, though, full of team work worries, past today. Such as two weeks of shooting to be repeated only because of a DAT tape lost and recording sound irremediably missing, respectively; missing parts to still be credited; €300 to remain as credit card limit in the main method of payment for (shooting) expenses such as mere flight tickets (main cast); the female lead character to be completely erased from the script made with so much love fulfilled by many only a few months before in order to cut off the budget and tighten up efforts or there wouldn't be feature film to show up in the end + the whole participation of a co-production team and checks to sign at one time and follow accordingly, go figure...
Finally, all this became multiple awarded in Venice since a decade and a half ago, oh well, crazy craft this industry is *Phew*

If you want to be legal 100% you have to take a course, pass an exam, get a license, pay an insurance, etc. DJI Phantoms are sold everywhere and nearly nobody do all those things to be legit. So the problem is if they catch you, I would prefer to be catched with a Mavic, than one of the others. Living in Italy forces you think how to force the law, amico!!!!! ;-DD

Emanuel reacted to TheRenaissanceMan in GX80/GX85 settings
Borrowing a friend's! Haven't done a ton with it yet, just testing for an upcoming narrative. Loving what I'm seeing so far!
Mostly using Natural, as that's what worked best on my GH3, but I may give Standard a whirl. I'm finding I can pull a lot back from the highlights and shadows in Resolve; holds up like a champ in the grade. Highlights roll off nicely, and dropping the mids a bit gives you a beautiful tone curve with very little effort.
However, even at ISO 1600, there's a fair bit of fine grain (not ugly, but present), and any details below 30 IRE or so get fairly muddy. Definitely more of a S16 look. I dig it, but not an aesthetic that works for everything. I'd peg DR in good light at around 11 stops, but I'd need to test in more controlled circumstances to say for sure.
Using the right glass matters a lot. My Lumix glass feels VERY sterile and the colors aren't to my liking, but my SLR Magics, Leica Rs, and Minoltas bring out the best in that sensor. Haven't tried my Canon FDs yet; might throw them on there with the Speed Booster tomorrow. Ditto my Olympuses, though they render too clinically on Panasonic bodies in my experience. (Yes, I have waaaaaaay too much glass.)
Usability is great. The screen is sharp, battery life impressive, menus intuitive, grip comfortable, and overall just a pleasure to handle. I only wish the card slot were on the side, but something has to give at this price point.
Hoping to get out and shoot more tomorrow afternoon!

It's right on the borderline of being terrific. Another update in 6 months and it will be there. A drone that doesn't take the whole back seat. More than enough to tell some cool stories.

Too soft, here and there. Enough balance in some others. That's the business of the shooter. To balance the elements.
Mushy outcome both from low bitrate codec and youtube encoding don't help, not even to evaluate either, the miracles a good colorist can achieve from.

Thanks for your post. Interesting soft 4K, sharp enough for cinematic inserts to be used if justified. I am sure it'll happen to be in the middle of a few professional productions worldwide. My beef with GoPro is also the sharp edges.

Emanuel reacted to IronFilm in TERRA 6K Footage
It is generally more just hobbyists who have the time and interest to make video tests to share online with others like themselves.
Plus Kinefinity is focused on first meeting local demand, will take longer before many people in the western world get and use their newest cameras.
Yeah if you need a camera ASAP then get an URSA Mini 4.6K / Sony FS5, otherwise be patient and see what happens with the Kinefinity Terra 5K

Looks like many are setting focus onto themselves when it's close to the ground and not changing to infinity.
