sanveer reacted to Gpanazio in Good monitor with good color for less than $500
That functionality would definitely help me to convince my wife that we need to buy it.
I liked the Lilliput, It seems very nice. Thanks!
If someone release a Smartphone or tablet with HDMI input, will be the end of field monitors. Imagine the ton of possibilities with apps and wifi transmissions.
I'll take a look. Thanks!

It is always great to be able to understand all the testing methodology and have the relative comparisons between cameras.

Quick play shows this to be a winner.
Works good on my GH4.
Even the 50/1.0L autofocuses.
Can hardly wait to test the 200/1.8L.
Accuracy seems good too.

sanveer reacted to jhnkng in iPad Pro & Apple Pencil/Stylus Discussion ?
I've bought the original Surface Pro and the Surface Pro 3, and I have sold both of them. I've love the idea of working with images on a tablet via a stylus, but as of right now, the software isn't there yet. Neither Lightroom nor Photoshop worked very well with a stylus, because the UI wasn't anywhere near usable. Lightroom was getting there with the touch UI for Windows machines with a touch screen, but it wasn't very intuitive, and the Surface Pro 3 wasn't quite fast enough to handle 24 and 36 megapixel files -- the machine would stutter and lag, and that just exacerbated the problems.
I was really, really interested in the Surface Book, until I found out the price. I'm super super keen to try the iPad Pro with the Astropad app -- I think that might be the best bet yet for what we both seem to want to do. Ultimately what I really want -- and reading all the reviews, what all the reviewers want too -- is pro apps on the iPad Pro. I also want to be able to plug in a hard drive into the damn thing to copy files into the iPad as quickly as possible!

Zack, in recorded history ONLY 1 guy recorded a Rock Concert with an On-Board Camera light. He was lynched by the band and the crowd, and nobody knows what they did to the camera. Hehehe

Hahaha ... Panasonic could make a short film on this. It's like that scene from Superman (the Christopher Reeves one), where the guy selling the Leaning Tower of Pisa breaks his pieces, when he realises that Superman has brought the tower back to its leaning position, after straightening it before:

You're right. It does perform like a webcam more than a proper phone camera.
Also, if the blackness of the material is significantly proportionate to its light (and presumably heat -- cooling must be a pain) collecting abilities, I'd be interested to see what they'd make of the blackest man-made material, carbon-nanotube that absorbs 99 percent of light.

sanveer reacted to AaronChicago in Where is the V Log love?
I never said it was overrated, or terrible exposure issues. I actually really loved everything about it except the macroblocking. But that was when I was testing it with internal + Varicam LUT. Those 2 are not the greatest combo.
I totally get that point of view. In fact that was me a few months ago. I love just having something ready to pick up and record. After testing V Log with 10 bit recorder though I loved the image so much that I can now justify using an Assassin alongside as an A cam option. It can easily cut into Epic or BMCC footage.

sanveer reacted to Alex Pasquini in No Limits - A Short Film
Hi all, so in the same vein as a previous post in this forum. Here's another video for the Sony No Limits competition! Be awesome if you guy could give this a watch... And a like if you like it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brvi7Zv-F2o&feature=youtu.be
In exchange for your time and patience for my blatant self promotion I am more than happy to answer any and all questions you have of my experience shooting footage with the A7rii. I use it as my main camera for all my work. I still have a Canon 5dmkiii as backup but that'll soon be replaced with an a7sII when funds allow!
To give you a little breakdown of this particular film, main lenses and equipment used:
Sony A7rii ( 4k Slog-2 ) Sony FE 55mm 1.8 Sonnar Sony FE 28mm f2 Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 IS Canon 70-200m 2.8 ii IS Sigma ART 35mm 1.4 Metabones IV Adaptor DJI Ronin-M Backache Atomos Ninja Assassin It was shot, edited, graded by myself. More info on a blog post: http://www.alexpasquini.com/blog/2015/10/30/no-limits-a-short-film-for-the-sony-fs5-competition
Again, apologies for the blatant self promotion but as said i'm more than happy to share any experience if anyone is interested, cheers!

sanveer got a reaction from Ed_David in Quantum Film Camera, 1st Short
TBO I was a little skeptical after the initial posts. But after getting Sony onboard, this means this isn't another exaggerated claim like the many others out there. Also, the creating of this on a mass scale, with improving all present shortcomings (focus, perhaps?), may be tweaked.
We should hopefully see some of these soon. They have already used this in a working prototype(s) on which they shot this film. So that should have speeden things up.

Yea they beat Samsung and Fujifilm/Panasonic that seem to have these tech as well. Let's see if these guys are the next Oculus Rift - out of nowhere and revolutionizing things. Teaming up with Sony is huge so it's not another digital bolex or Red One camera that has years of growing pains. Thank you Internet.

Global shutter - and seems like they are teaming up with sony to introduce this tech in a lot of cinema cameras.
This seems like the future. I have always hated CMOS and finally a CCD successor that seems to have better dynamic range. Looks like a really clean image .
Super excited - hope the sensor is better and it's not just the grade and using some kind of highlight diffusion to make it feel so nice!

Intentionally back focused for 60's level of sharpness. Interesting. I hope these colors are just from a filter not the result of a sensor.

Some strange colours occasionally, but to be expected at this stage.... Amazing to think that this tech could soon be in mobile phones, let alone film cameras!

sanveer got a reaction from kaylee in IS THIS ALIENS?
Newer civilisations know very little about Very Little, including about the universe. Copernicus discovered that the earth orbits the sun in the 16th century.
Eastern Scholars noted eclipses, astroids, comet movements etc etc many thousands of yeats before the west.
Having said that, it's in mankind's best interest not to try and look for life on other planets or even in other galaxies.
We're not too far away from the end of human life on earth. So, wth, maybe they should go ahead.

sanveer got a reaction from IronFilm in B&H Photo - largest seller of camera gear in USA exploits workers
People who are sympathising with the AL-Jazeers stories have obviously not been reading about labour conditions all over the world, and at most other stores. Apple Stores all over China have pathetic working conditions, and a lot of meat stores, electronics, online retailers, and super-stores in the US have terrible working conditions. Unlike Bangladesh where entire building are crumbling, all over the world, working conditions of the labour class isn't excellent. I cannot say with precision, but, I guess except Japan and a few Scandinavian countries, everywhere else, workers are treated like rodents. Why just stores, wasn't it recently that workers complained about the working conditions on Alfonso Cuarón's next film (I hope it was his film, that was in question), where extreme working conditions, with lousy food and extremely long work hours were making many crew members go literally berserk.
This is in no way stating that, if it exists thus at B&H, it is justified, and fine because everyone else is doing it.
I believe Al Jazeera should first outline working conditions in atleast 30 super stores, and atleast 20 other online electronics retailers, to be able to lend some level of credibility to their story. Otherwise it looks like some low quality political propaganda.

Yeah. Most online sites have either serious trolling, or serious bullying, or are overly moderated by some old school idiots.
