You basically record a 'safety track' as backup of the same recording, at about 10dB lower that the main one. So if there is some popping as a consequence of a surge in sound by a talent or anything else, you have a backup, at a lower dB. It can be done with almost all dual sound recorders (whether separate channels, or mono). Like with the Shure LensHopper VP83f. You can record the 2nd sound (the one on the MicroSD Card) at 10dB lower, to have as a Safety Track. It is there on most sound recorders, that have more than one channel, or record into more that one place (camera and recorder etc).

I saw a couple of his Horror Shorts and he is quite talented. He even did the Foley and other bits himself. Very creative indeed. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this.b Thanks for the link.

Wow. Pretty Neat. Just goes to show that it's always more about the talent, than the equipment in whose hands they rest.

More than the GH5, the reason the GX85 did not have Cinelike V and D was to protect the G7 (which had those and a mic in) and the GX8. The GH5 would have (I am assuming) far better than merely better battery life and just a VLog. They have tweaked the Vlog seriously on the DX200, so that may be on the GH5, and maybe have a 5k photo mode (or a 6k, if it doesn't have the GX85's sensor). While I doubt it will have (dual pixel) PDAF, it could have faster (and more accurate continuous autofocus in) photo burst speeds.

I must disagree with you. Panasonic added Many Features in Firmware even with the GH4. Anamorphic and VLog came After users began petitioning Panasonic. Maybe users should follow Matt Frazer and other Panasonic executives (and Directors) on Twitter or tell him during Trade Shows/ Electronic Shows (as well).

I am Not Sure something "too tiny" will be adequate for daytime. Especially with the Sun in pockets beteeen trees and all. The Aputure, M9 won't really have enough throw. It is ok for something within a foot at best. Like practicals in a restaurant shot type of lighting, and not for lighting faces. Use a daylight balanced Strong LED with something to soften the glare. Shotgun outside could be suicidal. Especially in crowded environments. Too many people watching, too much of ambient noise, a Very Attention grabbing piece of equipment, (maybe) not enough background noise isolation, and the whole thing sounds like a disaster just waiting to happen. Lapel Mics with the Rode InvisiLav sounds like a great idea (within clothing, and little closer than you would usually place them). Do a sound test (technical recee)before you do the final shoot.

Yeah I guess. Andy has the most hands-on experience with the G7, under various lighting and shooting conditions. So, I guess, it's good for everyone to learn. My saying that was merely like soliloquy. And, I agree with that bit about recording sound in the field instead of ADR (lapel mics on the talent's chest, inside clothing could be a great idea). You can still get reasonably good sound (though a little cleaning might be required to prevent it sounding like a documentary, due to some background noise the mic with pickup).

I watched it on QHD Smartphone. There was fixed pattern noise in the background on the GH4, but it wasn't as much, as the difference between the G7 and the GH4. That was huge. Maybe I need to watch this on a Bigger Screen.

This is Extremely Disappointing. I have been a secret fan of Ebrahim Saadawi senior, and I have really liked most of his posts. Now if the grandson (with the same name) is Scamming People everywhere, I am in No Doubt that the Grandfather and Many other Members of the Family, are in the Know. If Ebrahim Saadawi Senior has any sense of morality, he should have his grandson Return the Money and Apologise. If Not, it would Appear, they are Both, Hand in Glove. This appears almost like and International Phishing Scam.

There are 2 parts to the issue: 1. Your ability to tell a story. 2. Your ability to tell a story in the Screenplay Format. While the 1st bit will depend on many aspects of your personality and how you tell stories (,jokes, narrate incidents and other things) in general, the 2nd bit is more for how you play to the galeries (the film fraternity actually). Curiously the majority of people that want to see, read or hear your story won't have any freaking idea what a good or great story is, but they wanna hear it in the structure that is stereopically of a story. And, the narration style can be changed in Edit, if it is structured reasonably clearly (ala Momento). To be honest, it does refine a story a little. The rest is your own talent. And mostly what you're born with. For where to find stories to tell and how to tell them ... newspapers and people around you are the biggest source of fresh and good information. Read newspaper stories and re-narrate them differently, and create chracters out of people you meet every day. Especially the ones with unique and unusual personalities (ones with OCDs, extremely slow reaction, over-curious people etc). Also study all the formats for Loglines, Synopsis and (Shooting) Screenplays. Those help everyone else on the team too.

What sensor does duty in the GX85 is a Dirty Little Secret, NOBODY in Panasonic wants to talk about.

I saw this video a few hours ago. I did not notice as great a difference as I was expecting (ala G7). But, the Crop factor on the GH4 is way too much.
