  1. "I really fucking hate Sweden". Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I love American reviewers. They're the Funniest. Brits are just ancient colonial racists. Almost to the point of being boring. Americans, on the other hand, democratically crib so uniformly. I love their reviews. This review was so clumsy, disorganised and cribby, it was hilarious. Never mind that the product got completely ignored.
  2. "5-axis electronic image stabilization" Sony makes a smartphone sized sensor that does 3-axis electronic stabilisation. I wonder if 5-axis electronic stabilisation is even possible?
  3. Hahaha. It's true, though the time period for the newer models is too short. True. But they are making 6 month old models redundant. That is very curious.
  4. I am not sure what Panasonic is upto. It kills the GX7, GX8 and G7 with the GX85. And now they are rumours of the G80 that will have OBIS and 8-bit 4-2-2 INTERNAL. If it is true, it will make the GX85 redundant. At this rate, in the end, Panasonic will kill all other lines, except the GH. Very inspiring.
  5. Is this your usual tone, or are you suffering from oral leprosy.
  6. I think it may not be as much an issue with the IBIS as it is with Focus. The focus hunting interferes (IMHO) with the smoothness of the IBIS. Maybe with kess focus hunting, things may be more impressive.
  7. Actually at 12.7 or 12.8 the GH4 is better than the 5D Mark iii in terms of Dynamic Range (according to DXO Mark). And many APS-C Cameras. Maybe you only took the Nikons into consideration.
  8. The manual is a mess. Panasonic probably gave it to some Japanese kid to translate it for $10, ans he used Google Translate. There is a video on Vimeo with the eStabilization (with and without), and there is a slight improvement in the already excellent stabilisation. Though it crops in further into the frame, and thus is a curious tradeoff.
  9. Actually Film Grain doesn't have to be very Obvious (for want of a better word). I saw some films (most likely shot on the Alexa and Red Dragon), which looked way too digital, and un-filmlike, without grain. IMHO grain doesn't make the image worse. It makes it better. It makes it seem more alive.
  10. It is very likely that either Panasonic doesn't include IBIS or has an option to switch it off during recordings. The IBIS has 2 main issues: 1. Heat issues (especially in a weather-sealed 4k camera, and one that does 4-2-2 10-bit Internally); and 2. Noise: If the GH5 is to have usable sound from a mic mounted on the camera (via a camera plugged into the camera's mic socket), then the IBIS noise may be an issue (unless some shotgun mic can completely isolate the sound from the camera).
  11. Hahahahahahahaha. See, even the GH4 seriously outsold Panasonic's expected numbers, and thus production had to be seriously ramped up. If Canon makes $100 on the C100 in net profits, then probably Panasonic makes $500 on GH4 (these numbers were obviously Very different, initially). But the GH4 probably sold like 50-100 times as much as he C100. So, in the end the pricing isn't governed by anything except net profits. That is why field monitors cost so much more than Smartphones, despite the kind of features and technology found on each device. At $2500 the GH5 can make a killing for a 4k 4-2-2 device, if it can attract a certain minimum numbers of people, who will primarily use it for stills. The DSLR/DSLM filmmaking community is still a very small proportion of the DSLR/DSLM buyers, and therefore its photography features would be a huge governing factor for its sales figures.
  12. Apparently the GH4 is at its Lowest price ever (though to be fair it is on eBay, has some strange 1 year Limited Warranty, and could also be a Grey Market Export). http://www.43rumors.com/record-low-959-price-panasonic-gh4/ Does it mean the GH5 is Not too Far away? Also, does it also indicate that the improvements on the GH5 will be Seriously Radical? What do you guys think?
  13. Interesting rolling shutter. It looks like Fuji is Convinced they can fight the A6300's (in)famous rolling shutter (since they share apparently the same sensor). Also, I suspect Sony shortchanged them regarding the fabrication of the sensor or some other bits of it (therefore higher voltage for higher framerates in burst modes, or maybe that is a trick that Fuji conjured up?). Also, this particular video looks very videoish. Almost like it was shot on a handycam or something (maybe they should have graded it a little).

Maybe that 1 metre was too much, and therefore the shorter travel distance makes it more sturdy. Also, I noticed that adapter at the bottom, which helps it slide in many different directions (in the same 180 degree trajectory, though).
  15. If the Panasonic GX85 (the US version) can have No Time Limit for IBIS, I see no reason why the GH5 should have one. Also, like someone pointed out, the heating is more of a design flaw, in the Sony cameras, by cramming too much, into too little space. And, then (most likely) not having a heat sink (or an inadequate one). Like the Sony A6300 is smaller and lighter than the GX85, despite having a larger sensor. And, that most likely is the cause of all the overheating.
  16. I am guessing the price would be more in the ballpark of $2500, if it has 4k 4-2-2, and 5-point IBIS (and most likely a lot more tricks up its sleeve). Edit: $2000 not $2500. We shouldn't give Panny any such crazy ideas ;-)

I think it's terrible if their quality control is not too good. And could be worse if they don't have great customer service either.
  18. Ok. My bad. I didn't know that. I assumed the space betweenthe sensor and the mount would have been the problem. Maybe they have super thin NDs, and some versions of focal reducers work (maybe only one version). Will have to check this. But thanks for the information. Seems quite interesting. In that case, Panasonic should get a click-less electronic ND filtwr like that on the Sony FS5 ... ;-)
  19. I noticed that the Video HDR feature on the 5D Mark iv seems like some scam. In regular mode it pushes Dynamic Range in video to that of a smartphone (basically Terrible). And then has an HDR setting to bring it average/ normal levels. From the various Videos and Frame grabs I saw (online), in regular mode video seems to be about 7-8 stops, and in HDR mode maybe 8-9 stops. I dunno if it's funny or ludicrous.
  20. Panasonic is moving closer to sending Canon's 5D Cameras to the grave. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice ...
  21. True. But with a Built-in ND, I am guessing it may be difficult getting a focal reducer in the space as well. It would have absolutely the same issues as the one caused by the link I posted.

I saw this somewhere this morning too. Edelkrone really makes some amazing products. Only if they would price them a little less (30-50% less), they could rid of all the duplicates as well a huge part of the competition.
  23. IMHO high bitrate good 8-bit 4-2-2 may not seem very different from 10-bit 4-2-2. A lot of the pro Canons have it. There is already an adaptor like this that seems like a good idea, and could be used for almost any other 4/3 ILC: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1041731-REG/fotodiox_vzlx_thrtl_eos_nex_pro_vizelx_nd_throttle_adpter.html I meant the Sony K2M version too. The Yagh was a design and engineering disaster.
  24. Some of your wishlist seems like the things they need. I think even if they have 8-bit 4-2-2 internal, at 200-300mbps, it should be sufficient. Also, a Seriously Improved (3 versions actually) of the VLog. And an improved Yagh (with oomp) too is something they need to do. Maybe they can sell the ND Filter Adapter for their own and other M4/3 lenses. It will help deal with reducing minimum focus distance among other things.
  25. That is the biggest thing that Panasonic needs to work on. An APSC beating sensor. Some of their sensor seem to have better dynamic range than their Canon counterparts anyway (according to DXO Mark).
