Hahaha. Sorry TYPO. I Edited that. The predictive text function is weird on my phone. Earlier everything was about sex, and now, luckily its some random word. -

'High-sensitivity', 'low power consumption' and 'variable-speed shutter function', seem to be the the take away here. So I guess we should expect much better low light, lots of new functions necessary in low power consumption devices like smartphones, some manner of HDR for photo (and video?) like on smartphones. Interesting. Though it doesn't seem to have 14-bit RAW photo, which I was hoping M43 moves towards. -
Panasonic not making imaging sensors doesn't mean much. Their imaging sensors weren't exactly path breaking and not even sufficient for their own ILCs (probably both in quality and in production numbers). The same can probably be said for their other semi conductor innovations. It's a good idea that they are cutting their losses. They should focus on developing their M43 and L-mount better, with better network and after sales and listen to customers. IMHO, the GH5 and Pansonic's M43 cameras could have done a lot better (in terms of sales), if it targetted indie filmmakers and film students more specifically, since video prowess has always being their forté.

In the imaging sensor division, Samsung is eating into Sony's marketshare. And also probably gaining market share from other players. That's why Sony is suddenly over enthusiastic in announcing a sensor that may not even be available until next year (the IMX686). I am guessing that Panasonic probably left out the patent (of the organic sensor) in the sale of its semiconductor business (I am only guessing), since that seems like the only thing they really innovated on, in the last 5-10 years. Processors and SoCs are available at very low prices by hundreds of companies, and they can be used for anything from Washing Machines to Drone. And one doesn't have to waste millions on entire departments for it. Samsung shut down its Mongoose Custom Core division a few weeks ago, since those cores were slowing down it's own SoCs, and wasting $Billions in R&D. The fact that an agreement beteren Synopsys, Arm, and Samsung Foundry was signed for accelating the next generation(s) of ARM based processors, probably means that Samsung realised that the Mongoose R&D was a monumental waste of money and no real gains were being made, by having it in existence. Similarly, Panasonic also needs about 1$Billion in losses to make good, and getting rid of all loss making divisions is a good idea.

https://siliconangle.com/2019/11/28/panasonic-sells-loss-making-chip-business-nuvoton-250m-deal/ "Panasonic Corp. today said that it has inked a $250 million deal to sell its semiconductor business to Nuvoton Technology Corp., a Taiwanese chipmaker that supplies silicon for Dell Technologies Inc. and other major tech firms. The transaction has several components. Panasonic is offloading its Panasonic Semiconductor Solutions group, the unit’s intellectual property and its 49% stake in a joint venture that operates three Japanese chip fabrication facilities. Nuvoton is also buying out the stake of the joint venture’s other owner, Israel-based Tower Semiconductor Ltd., for an undisclosed sum not included in the deal’s $250 million price tag. Panasonic Semiconductor Solutions is best known as a maker of power management chips. Its products are used to control the flow of electricity inside mobile devices, electric cars and other systems. The unit also offers a variety of other integrated circuits including image sensors for cameras, though some of those secondary product lines were sold off in a separate deal earlier this year. " Basically Panasonic is selling the last of its semi conductor business and the JV with TowerJazz is history. It was hardly successful anyway, and their market share was tiny, at best. Plus the mythical organic sensor took way too long to make, and even now it's full potential is a mystery. It was too long in the pipeline. Panasonic could just do better by just designing sensors and fabricating them from Sony.

I am not American, and I think Trump says the strangest things. But, he is arguably the most successful US president of all time. I may not be a Trump fan, but I prefer him over both the Clintons, Obama and many others. Obama getting the Nobel for farting in his dreams was way more shady than anything else. EVER. The US has been heading for a financial collapse for the last few years (since the Dollar Store and Wallmark rise). Now China is literally taking away millions of US jobs and Fortune 500 is inundated with Chinese Companies. Apple would have been relegated to 4th or 5th position in smartphone sales, if the US wasnt doing all the shady stuff it is (to be fair, US Trade and IP Laws have been anything but fair since they were created). Also TikTok and other chinese tech startups are going to be displacing Twitter and Facebook (even though it doesn't do similar things to either) very soon. That's why Google is planning a TikTok ban soon (if it hadn't already). Europe and the US are heading for both economic and cultural collapse. The only question, I guess, is how quickly.

I don't know whether it is a sign of IP Institutions and Courts being fallible or corrupt in the United States. Sad, either ways. They're no better than China or even a banana republic.

@Emanuele was clearly trolling on this post. Like insanely. Incessantly. Mindlessly. Annoyingly. Suddenly I am wondering whether i should also keep away from eoshd.com altogether or just use it much lesser.

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera

Maybe you could share footage to show what you're trying to articulate. -

The Netflix Certification, and this, should push sales atleast 5 fold, if not more. https://***URL not allowed***/panasonic-s1h-lab-test-dynamic-range-and-rolling-shutter-results/ Class leading dynamic range. Or way beyond any other ILC hybrid out there. -
I may disagree with your exalted praise of Red and the shocking personal actions and stories about Jim. But this film trailer you shared, is so hilarious and well written. I would love to see the full film. Is it online somewhere (VoD, youtube etc)?.

I could be wrong, but the dynamic range difference between the GH5 and S1 doesn't seem that much actually. The S1 and S1H have great highlight rolloff though. I wish someone would do a credible dynamic range test of the 2. I agree. The GH6 should have atleast 1-1.5 more stops of dynamic range. That will make it a seriously formidable cinema camera. And they could add a Compressed RAW for another $299. It will have way lesser rolling shutter and overheating issues than a full frame camera. -

I hope Panasonic releases the next GH camera, worthy of this Netflix list. -
I don't think Jim has any health issue. He probably shared some of Lance Amstrong's strong portion. And it has made them both happy high.

Hopefully the RAW patent will be a lost suit, and RED will miraculously turn honest, and work towards a wider reach for its products. RED could never have succeeded with Hydrogen because it attempted to beat Apple and Samsung at a game they themselves are losing. Also to assume that last generation smartphone sensors and processors can equal or beat much larger cameras was ludicrous to begin with. Smartphone Sensors and Computational Photography will improve substantially in 2020. Also I am guessing if RED loses the compressed RAW suit, the chances of smartphones moving from the present 10-bit 422 to compressed RAW is also pretty high.

"... greater image quality, at even higher ISOs, with the ability to capture stills in 10-bit using the HEIF (High Efficiency Image File) file format. HEIF produces wider dynamic range and greater color representation compared to JPEG. The power of 4K resolution brings stories to life – shoot 4K videos including 4K60p with 10-bit 4:2:2 Canon Log internal recording." Finally 4-2-2 10-bit and at 4k60p. And improved lowlight. No mention of 6k though. And newsshooter.com says that Canon mentioned internal RAW (though knowing Canon, one should probably take that with a pinch of salt). No mention of 6k.

Interesting. The story could be a little stronger, maybe with references of her fears as a new mother, of what kind of fearand why, before the ghost makes an appearence.

The iPhone has seriously exaggerated colours and which are quite off, as well. I don't even consider their photos acceptable. Other low light cameras don't have this problem. The portrait mode is fine by smartphone standards. The problem is when you see the photos on a larger screen (larger than a smartphone size), the quality suddenly looks rubbish and the colours seem very disappointing. The same applies for video. Everything looks like 480p or worse.

Smartphones in the last 3 years or so have improved tremendously in dynamic range, colour accuracy and lowlight (and extremely easy to use and quick to snap away). The last and final frontier is detail and actual resolution. Once smartphones resolve as much as 20MP M43 cameras, I doubt whether we could need anything else to complain. They will also, then, replace much larger sensor cameras.

IMHO, a University degree is ONLY sensible for certain kinds of jobs, like a lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister), investment banker, engineer etc. And TBO, the degree does nothing even in those jobs, but employers are as stupid as employees and judge you solely on your university degree and your internship jobs (neither of which are truly proof of anything). For filmmakers, while the information and hands on is decent in university education, the price of the education could help you produce a few low budget Indies of your own. And you could learn almost every from YouTube and online resources (many of them free or at very low costs). Plus, it always helps to meet and collaborate with filmmakers on free gigs like short films, and gradually start moving up the ladder to larger ones and paid gigs. Also, since filmmaking is a group effort it is super important to have the right team. Most filmmaking education is way too expensive (as is every college education, to be fair).
