    -Canon has DPAF

Interesting to see how it all pans out. I feel that if an amazing camera like the VaricamLT struggles to gain traction at ~half the price(ish) (assuming the suggested $30k of the C700 is correct), Canon may struggle. But then, perhaps the DPAF is enough to sway some (VLT has EF mount, but no AF).

    Do cinematographers care about AF?

The DPAF is smart enough to replace Focus Pullers and start  a innovation?

Specially the DPAF base on DSLR lens instead of cinema lens and it may cause noise issues when using non-STM lens

STILL the same camera which is very sad but you are being too harsh on the original

Handle never rotates accidentally and I've shot a LOT with it so should know

Easy to break plastic lens? Nah, it's very robust as is the whole camera

The zoom does fall out on a drone and the gap between handle and body IS to narrow for sure, that I agree with you on.

Very common to have mic on top of the camera

Look at the positives... superb stabilisation, superb 1080p, best codec on the market for the price, it is like a mini C300 Mark II, ergonomics can be very satisfying

Something that priced more than $2000 is still plastic body ?

Even a  $500 mirrorless is metal body

I don't know that superb stabilisation

Is it better than the 5-axis ?

  3. STILL that stupid rotating handle without a lock?

STILL that easy-to-break plastic lens without constant aperture?

STILL that loose zoom lens which will slide back when being put upside down?

STILL that narrow gap between the handle and body?

STILL that  top microphone which  capture the rain drops and your spit instead of the sound in front of you ?

    Sorry,I just can't help laughing about it~

Nikon are slowly getting there... D5/D500 both released this year have 4K / Flat profile. D750 also introduced zebras. All that's really missing is peaking and stronger codec options.. the DR though is impressive for 8-bit DSLR..

Well, you do have the choice to output 4K video to external recorders on nikon cameras to bypass the weak codec ,but you can not  do the same thing on 5DIV for sure, not to mention the  4K monitoring.

Now if tomorrow Nikon releases a D820 with same specs as A7RII (FF 4k + S35K full read out, decent AF, 42mpx,...) except it obviously gets Nikon ergonomics, Nikon lenses, Nikon sensor processing (colours and better DR) then it is an instant buy for me.

Sadly it won't be happen, because sony never gives nikon those PDAF sensor, did you see the D5XXX and D3XXX series were updated many times but no single one of they  using PDAF sensors, considing sony have been using  PDAF sensors sine 2013 (like NEX5R\A6000),not even D750 gets the chance to using one,I am guessing this should be a market protection

You where talking about processors, where are those facts? Roumered specs won't do, I want the facts you have.

A7rii... No thanks, had both the a7sii and a6300. Had to return one and sell the other. Their codecs aren't up to standards in 2016. And that's just one of the many problems they have imo.

    Hey,Mattias

You can use a external  recorder on A7 series、GH4 or nikon 4K DSLRs for other codec, but I bet the 5D4 just like the 1DXII  which won't provide you 4K output ,and ML can do nothing about it

If you don't like XAVC ,there are H265 or RAW, so many better choices  than that ancient MJPEG codec

    Just now, Jesse Korgemaa said:

Also mentioning h265 isn't super relevant, because the only camera to support it was Samsung's NX1 and well... looked what happened to that camera. I'd rather buy into a system that I know was going to be around for years, than hop on some new tech trend and have the system get cancelled.

    well,good luck with that

Please link to the facts you have.

What link do I need to post ? The specifications is right there ,one using codec from the 90s, the  others using newly developed codec,H265 for example

If that is not enough, check out  the A7RII which shoot 4K without any crop and can do supersampling for 4K ,and A7RII achieve it with no need of a fan and a bigger body

The reason for the weird codec is that their processors can't handle 4K encoding in hardware without a fan. So they have to compromise to be able to include 4K.

The basic problem for Canon is that their processors are technologically way behind compared to what is used in Panasonic/Sony/Samsung cameras. That is the main reason for the laggardly adoption of 4K.

Finally see someone telling the fact

I am recomand every canon fan just buy a C300M2 or XC10 instead ,that is all canon will want you to do,please stop saying specifications is not everything

LOOK!Canon just decided using MJPEG for their flapships  for the next 4 years。

A product that brings you the memories of the 1990s!SO COOL!!!

Dual pixel AF and Canon's native lens selection makes this a very interesting camera for me - and I'm pretty heavily invested in the A7rII and lots of Sony glass.

Non-STM lens may generate mechanical noise, specially IS lens

All Sony  E lens  are silent step motor lens, some with powerzoom, more useful than canon lens if you thinking using AF for serious work

I don't disagree with any of these comments. In fact, what you say is obvious on its face. My point was and still is whatever they are thinking it's not about making money. I think that is a serious mistake. It seems there's a HUGE part of the market they are totally snubbing.

There are many who would be completely satisfied with the status quo of a model...most even. But for those, for instance, would like some added features for the C100 Mk II, but simply could never dream of owning a C300 mk II--and such people are likely to jump to Sony for want of a few simple features.

I know what they've been thinking. In the light of their sales  trajectory the past years what I wonder is why they keep thinking it.

Dude, you can get a Fuji X-T2 instead! Dpreview has posted the 1dxII review ,the sharpness is low and skintone is terrible!

    Check it out by youself~ https://***URL removed***/reviews/canon-eos-1d-x-mark-ii/13

Nikon is a different story IMO.

Nikon does give users some useful tools like flat profile、zebras and smooth aperture control ect

More importantly, unlike the poor canon 1DXII,Nikon use H264 codec for their 4K cameras, and 4K HDMI output is also available too ~

  10. 4k is a choice for  people with the need of high resolution, also for the development of 4K TVs and big screen broadcast,as the pixels  on camera growing ,there is not reasons for us to remain on the 2M  pixels  HD  video

Not to mention most DSLRs today still provide false 1080P with line-skipping

But I think 4K is still on the way for many people, what matter for us now is better sampling 、log and higher bit for color~

RAW is not the future too,we need better codec,NOT MJPEG !
