I feel for you man.  I'm all for criticising people where criticism is due.  It's nonsense and blowing things out of proportion that irritate me.  I think its interesting that you have basically regurgitated the whole CNN media narrative, proven by the fact that you have actually missed the one element that Trump should be criticised on more than any other: The fact that he supports waterboarding and 'stronger than waterboarding'.  Of course the media stopped talking about that because it wasn't juicy enough to put in their headlines.  The fact that he said that and you are whinging about what he said about his daughter:  That tells me what I need to know.

Talk about cherry-picking my words and taking them out of context - I was talking about how there is a sense of awakening in the air regarding the mainstream Western media losing its power and influence.

The only issue I would take in how you phrase things is using the word "Western" or "US led".  There is no more a coherent western position than there is a coherent Syrian position.  By saying western it sounds to some that you are against 'western' liberalist values such as free speech etc, which I am sure is not the case.   If you were to say "Globalist corporatist factions of the western establishment" or something along those lines, it would help avoid this misconception.
The fact is that these factions are only getting away with this because the corporatist media are brain washing everyone.  They exploit the fact that people understandably have suspision of dictatorial governments, but if the media were honest that western agencies where arming and militarily supporting wahabist islamists (the word extremist is obviously superfluous), and were honest about what these people represent, then more people in western countries would be opposed to it.

I have seen a handful of reports about what ISIS has done in regards to my people. What I wish to uncover and show is how the more "moderate rebels", as Western media phrases it, have also done the exact same things to us that ISIS have. That is what I was getting at.

Though I disagree with some parts of the article, i.e. "U.S.-led Western coalition trying to restore stability with an as-yet-unidentified new regime" (that's a nice way of saying "we're trying to overthrow a government and replace it with a government that is favourable to us"), I am glad to see my people's plight get exposure, regardless.

It's a shame that Western journalism, especially in the USA, has turned to complete and utter s**t.

The mainstream media isn't really the "Fourth Estate" anymore, nor does it hold or adhere to the "muck racking" ideals that the Fourth Estate was built upon. Rather, it has mutated into nothing more than a public-relations firm - regurgitating and glamouring-up State Department press-releases and political speeches.

I remember when I began my Media Degree at University here in Sydney, the first lecture I attended, the lecturer's opening words were; "The modern mainstream media...is a lie. The Fourth Estate is dead."

It's funny how Australia gave the world that wretched bastard, Rupert Murdoch, however, has also given the world Julian Assange and John Pilger - two great inspirations to me personally - and the future of independent media - how the Fourth Estate was originally intended and meant to be.

I hope to be travelling back to Syria soon to make a documentary about my village/region (Syria's Christians), and how they suffered at the hands of Western-backed "rebels" - something that is never reported on in the West.

You really should separate your business and your politics.  It is a very foolish business decision to actively alienate up to half your audience/client base.  Especially when you are mistaken, your judgement will be questioned.  For the record, Britain is still in the EU, so no present economic situation can possibly be blamed on Britain having left the EU, because it hasn't happened yet.

I think I mostly agree.  A well mannered discussion about a particular issue of government policy isn't of any harm.  Its when people start spewing highly opinionated views on partisan politics like elections and referendums that things get messy.  Particularly if the views are demeaning and incendiary like the cartoon in the opening post.
Like many people I think that if I spent an hour talking face to face with any reasonable person that I could convince them that any opinion I have on politics is well reasoned and well thought out.  But it is clearly impossible to do this with everybody, so I have to accept that there are millions of people whose opinions are different to mine and whose opinions I cannot change.  The most prudent way of avoiding conflict with such people is to refrain from talking about such things in situations where they aren't relevant.
Unfortunately but perhaps fittingly it seems to be the less thoughtful and the less prudent that are the most vocal.  The issue is that when people feel the discussion from such people begin to snowball into a back patting session they feel more compelled to reveal their hand.
People are free to do what they want of course, but I'd rather leave that stuff for youtube comments.

    I am Syrian.

    I am Antiochian Orthodox Christian.

I come from a place in Syria called Wadi al Nasara (known in English as the "Valley of the Christians").

I come from a village called "Safita" - about two-hours north of Damascus. I currently reside in Sydney Australia. 99% of my family remains in Syria.

If you are not Syrian, if you have not lived in Syria, if you don't have all your family and friends in Syria, please do not pretend to know about Syria, or talk on behalf of Syria.

I have lost many family and friends in the past few years. All at the hands of the US and NATO's so-called "moderate rebels". The youngest was two-years old - killed, along with her mother, whom was attempting to rock her to sleep, by a "moderate rebel" sniper. Why? Because she was unfortunate enough to be punished and killed for no other reason other than for being born a Syrian Christian.

The Western-backed "democracy loving rebels" destroyed our towns. They desecrated and burnt our churches. They beheaded our priests (two from the village next to mine).

I am doing my absolute best to control myself as I write this. I keep telling myself to back-track. Delete the post entirely. In all serious, what is it going to change? What is going to happen other than having myself, my background, my history, exposed? It will most likely be in vain - most people have been manipulated by Western media for years. My hope is that perhaps one mind could be changed. If that. Regardless, I am absolutely fed up with this diatribe and propaganda that is purported and spurred on by Western exceptionalism at the behest of US/NATO hegemony.

Obama. Clinton. Merkel. Erdogan. All these NATO war-mongers, and their partners in the Gulf, namely Saudi Arabia and Qatar, have armed, trained, and funded these Salafi and Wahhabi proxies militias against us. I blame them personally for this. I blame them for all the family and friends that I have lost.

What's worse, Western media would have you believe that was is happening in Syria is all in the name of "democracy" - that it was some "popular uprising" - when anyone that is Syrian, or has lived in Syria, especially during the war, knows that that is complete rubbish. Regardless, the idea that the West wants democracy anywhere is a joke. Only political romantics that do not understand geo-politics, Western hegemony and realpolitik fall for this.

The West wants democracy in Syria, huh? Even though they partner, arm and train the two most undermocratic governments and armies on Earth - Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Give me a f**king break.
I don't care for Trump. I don't like Trump. I don't have hope for his administration. Personally, I supported Jill Stien. Regardless, anyone that thinks Clinton would have been any better is deluded and ill-educated on her neo-con and neo-liberal history and agenda.

You know what - I'll tell you the real "cruel irony" - the one BBC, CNN, and the rest of the faux news wont tell you - that people who support LGBT rights and women's rights, the people that are against crony capitalism and corruption, the people that are against war, are the same people supporting and protesting for Hillary Clinton - a woman funded by Saudi Arabia and Wall St cronies - whom are the absolute antithesis of everything those people stand for - that is the f**king cruel irony.

And this whole anti-Russian sentiment has reached ridiculous proportions. You know, I got off the phone with my Dad in Syria the other day. He said to me; "If Russia dies, we all die."
If you were a Syrian Christian, or a Syrian that supports secularism, you would know what that means without even needing explanation.

Russia is the only reason Syria hasn't fallen to the proxy armies and militias of NATO and Saudi Arabia. If if wasn't for Russia, there wouldn't be a single Syrian Christian/secular Syrian, left alive.

People want to keep playing this anti-Russia card, fine. Keep believing the same bulls**t media and governments that sold you the Iraq WMD lie. Or the photo-op phony NGO groups like "White Helmets", et al.

    Real Syrians know the truth.

Its funny you put 'color' in capitals. What about a monocrome bitmap image?   You do know that there are different types of resolution than display or image resolution right?
Take this list from wikipedia.  I know it cant match your six exlamation marks, but it's at least a start:
Display resolution, the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed on a display device Graphic display resolutions, a list of particular display resolutions Resolution (audio), a measure of digital audio quality Temporal resolution, the sampling frequency of a digital audio device Optical resolution, the capability of an optical system to distinguish, find, or record details Angular resolution, the capability of an optical or other sensor to discern small objects Spectral resolution, the capability of an optical system to distinguish different frequencies Sensor resolution, the smallest change a sensor can detect in the quantity that it is measuring Resolution (electron density), the quality of an X-ray crystallography or cryo-electron microscopy data set Resolution of a spectrometer, the ability to distinguish two close-lying energies (or wavelengths, or frequencies, or masses) Resolution (mass spectrometry), the ability to distinguish peaks in a mass spectrum Image resolution, a measure of the amount of detail in an image Printing resolution, the number of individual dots a printer can produce within a unit of distance (e.g., dots per inch) In number storage, the resolution is the reciprocal of the unit in the last place What we are arguing here is merely a question of nomenclature.  We can call it anything, Its still a discrete concept from dynamic range.  If 'dynamic range' is acceptable to denote the maximum range of light intensity recordable, then then number of discrete values with which we can sample this range would clearly be described as a resolution.  And if the word dynamic is good for one, why not the other.

I respectfuly disagree.  Resolution and sharpness are not the same thing.  As for dynamic range, the codec defines the dynamic resolution (how many steps) but it has nothing to do with the dynamic range.  An image with a 4 stop range and an image with a 15 stop range could both be recorded in the same 8 bit codec.  Having said that, Its great that people are using the NX1 and finding it to their needs.  It just isn't the be all and end all, otherwise people wouldn't still be looking at new cameras.

In real terms though, you knew what you were buying when you bought it and you thought it was worth the money. It's the same camera that can do exactly the same thing whether or not a newer camera comes out. You aren't in anyway disadvantaged any more than if they hadn't brought it out.  What you are asking is that sony innovate less in order to moddycoddle your irrational sense of camera inadequacy.    Maybe they did have it ready when the 6300 came out, in which case its fair to say you wished it was released then, but maybe they threw it together after they'd taken a look at the competition.  It that is the case, how would it disadvantage anyone releasing it as soon as its ready.

Its an instagram pseudo film grade with milk blacks, but apart from that the image looks ok.  Just a few nondescript test shots edited to an indi soundtrack.
This cameras main problem is the lack of lens options.  No wide aperture options, no wide angle option, no telephoto option.  But for the people for whom the money is nothing, it will be a convenient tool.
If this came with a selection of stabilised lenses designed for the format it would be fantastic.

Just saw some more photos of the A6500. Why do they continue not offering a front dial? Having two dials readily accessible seems like a "must" in ergonomics, especially when it costs 1700 Euros... or maybe they'll put that in the A6700 that's due in a few months. If I had all that cash to blow on a camera like this, it would be a deal-breaker for me.

Not when the GH5 is about to come out with its superior specs. It makes perfect sense to get some more sales in while they can.  Its essentially the same camera as the 6300 with upgrades which explains how they managed it so quickly.  The added ibis makes people think twice about getting the G85 and GX85 too.  The price pushes it too close to full frame for my comfort though.

Most of you here make your living with this tech, so for you it is only a tool. You buy a new one, when you current one does cut it for the job. AFAIK none of you even bought or kept the A6300, so why the outrage? Frequent releases are always better. The best strategy would be to simply release new models each year around the same time like smartphone flagships, so you would know when to hold off the purchase before new tech is announced.

Ok couldn't help but post my grade too... I'm not trying to start a competition and certainly open to criticism myself but some of the grades posted of this so far might not be showing it in the best light (except the grade from @Geoff CB which is gorgeous - I'm not that good!).

As a GH4 user this was just a dream to grade in Premiere Pro CC with Lumetri colour, I loaded a LUT called  AlexaV3_K1S1_LogC2Video_DCIP3_EE and then did some simple tweaking to highlights, shadows, contrast, saturation and minor adjustment to curves. I really pushed the saturation which might be too much for some peoples liking and usually mine too but it helped to naturally warm up the image a bit with some of the more subtle warmth in the skin tones that was otherwise hidden.

After grading GH4 footage for years this is going to ruin me forever! I might be upgrading to a Terra instead o a GH5! (though having both as some have mentioned would be quite complimentary for different uses). The background wall is naturally quite purple so if I were to go further I would be trying to reduce that as it gives the overall picture and foreground a magenta feel by association even though it's not.
