What lens is this?

[sub]The brand is Cosina[/sub] [sub] [/sub] [sub]Here is some info from Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosina[/sub]
  2. Here's a bit of behind the scenes of the shoot   http://www.fstopacademy.com/blog/a-portrait-of-stockholm/
  3. I know his patches I simply meant I don't know him as someone I have met. :)
  4. Hmmm interesting responses. Slightly negative I feel. Did you actually watch the video? Did you like the look of any of the shots?   I don't know Nick Driftwood I just stumbled across his videos on Vimeo. From reading a few of the posts under his videos he mentions having 2 x EX1s so I presume he knows a thing or two about filming. My guess is he doesn't just run around shooting everything on 'auto'. I think he posted the video on Creative Control Modes so people can see how the image looks on these settings. The GH3 is 'new' and people are still learning their way around it's settings, or salivating from a distance.   I think some people will watch the video and go 'O that looks nice! I might try that 'auto' setting to see how the camera has set itself up'. They could then make a note of the settings and then set it 'manually' themselves or even 'tweak' the settings to suit their needs. If you watch the video he has shown the settings on each shot.   Sometimes when I used to shoot on unfamiliar video cameras I would allow the camera to set up on Auto and then knock it into Manual and tweak it to how I though it looked best. You might be surpised to learn that top end video cameras can get it pretty much spot on with auto settings. You just have to be aware of the pitfalls.
  5. I just came across Nick Driftwood's video reviews of the GH3 on Vimeo. If you're interested in the GH3 and want to see about settings etc. you may find it of interest.   https://vimeo.com/54682759   Read the comments about the moire.   Regards,   Matt
  6. Andrew I like your video but why are the heads 'squished' ..... only kidding. Really like this film. It's lovely and dreamy with beautiful colours. The music suits it to a T I like the slowmo element a lot. It all works so well. Have you ever seen https://vimeo.com/6344564 I know it's 'nasty' video but the slowmotion is so mesmerising and the music works so so well. Regards, Matt
  7. Vimeo are introducing ways for Creators to make money from their videos. One way is through a tipping service called tipjar and another way is a pay-per-view option. Thought you may find it of interest. Hope this embedded video works! http://player.vimeo.com/video/49684456?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0&color=ffffff" Regards, Matt
  8. I have a Nexus 7 and hunted all over the web to see if there was a way to use it as an external moniter for the GH2 but there doesn't presently seem anyway to do it.
  9. Sometimes when I worked in a TV studio having a guest whose top was causing aliasing by slightly defocusing the shot you could stop it. It was often a toss up between which looked worse a slightly soft shot or an article of clothing aliasing. I presume the test videos shot using a lens like the Voightlander, using a very shallow depth of field, are removing the aliasing from certain objects/materials by being slightly soft in focus.
  10. It's great that you post a topic to stimulate a debate. But in the article you have linked to the losses mentioned by Panasonic are $10 Billion not $10 Million. Getting the GH3 "right" isnt going to save the day. Like many others who visit this site I was so excited to see the release of the GH3 but it's all gone a bit flat now. I hope the full production model sorts out some of the issues people have with the GH3 and it really is a great camera.

You can already preorder the camera! And here are the specs: The Panasonic DMC-GH3 Lumix Body (Black), is a new and highly evolved model from LUMIX, creator of the world’s first digital single lens mirrorless (DSLM) camera. The body has been engineered to incorporate a 16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor, a 4-CPU Venus Engine, and a newly designed low-pass filter. The creative expression made possible by these innovations, render even the finest textures in intricate detail, breaking new ground in photographic realism. The new model also features Contrast AF with a high level of response. And its magnesium alloy frame is tightly sealed to resist splashes and dust, making the DMC-GH3 rugged enough to withstand the rigors of professional use. Features:

16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor
HDR (High Dynamic Range)
Double OLED Display
Splash/Dustproof Design
Full-HD Progressive
Smartphone or Tablet Linking
In addition to supporting a wide range of recording formats, the DMC-GH3 features a special heat-dispersing design for extended high-quality recording. Its specifications match those of many professional cameras, ensuring that it meets the demands of video field work. The LUMIX GH3 was designed from the ground up to provide seamless multi-media performance for both stills and videos. It may well be the world’s first camera to please professional photographers by offering them the best of both. The DMC-GH3 features a 16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor with a level of sensitivity that produces flowing gradation from shadows to highlights. High resolution and a wide dynamic range create truly stunning images that look like you could reach out and touch them. High-sensitivity ISO 12800 (extended: ISO 25600) and extensive noise reduction give you remarkable images even in dim lighting. In the DMC-GH3′s Contrast AF system, the image sensor doubles as the AF sensor to resist any mechanical margin of error. Compared with Phase Difference AF, the focusing is precise even at small F-numbers. A faster sensor and engine also achieve a higher focus detection speed than most traditional DSLR models. The DMC-GH3 gives you 1920 x 1080 60p [NTSC] / 50p [PAL] Full-HD recording. Progressive scanning records every frame, so the amount of data contained is twice that of interlace scanning, and the images have extremely high definition. The Wi-Fi® function lets you use a smartphone* to make settings and press the shutter button remotely, a short distance from the camera. The auto transfer function is handy for automatically backing up photos onto a tablet. This lets you monitor them on the tablet without having to upload them to a PC. You can also start timer interval video recordings from a smartphone. And you can use GPS data to simultaneously record the shooting location onto your images. 13. Hi, I don't think you have ripped them off. If you had taken the money and not delivered a video then that would be my definition of ripping them off. At the end of the day you have delivered a product. And well done it's a lot of hard work involved. However I think the problem you have here is you have perhaps promised the moon and been unable to deliver it in terms of look and style. Please don't be offended just trying to help. So much of filmmaking is subjective. The video is very amateurish for many different reasons. Bands want a calling card and they're not happy with the product. Can you tweak it to suit them. What would they like done. Is 800 a lot of money? Yet again that's subjective. Giving back the money would only end up making them feel justified not liking the product. And you guys would feel pretty worthless for all your hard work. However its clear you are still just starting out so it's a bit of a catch 22. You have a lot to learn yet want to make money. Nothing wrong with that. I think as you are just starting out you should re-edit the video without charging extra. Try using a lot more affects. You need to make it grittier. Try viewing it in black and white or sepia. Try adding other filters to dirty the picture up. It looks far too much like standard video. Try adding more edits perhaps of the band. Just play around more. I know it's time consuming but you might stumble across a look you really like. Get a list of what the band don't like and see if you can tweak the video. Put it down to learning. I used to make music videos and always had 3 things going on i.e. the band shot in two different locations and a story line. I found it more interesting to an audience. I love this quote 'Repetition is the Mother of Skill'. Just keep on doing what you do. You will find your style and look. All the Best, Matt

    NEW GH2 Handle

Hi Frank, I find no stability problems. The handle touches the GH2 so helps restrict movement. I enclose two types of mounting screws. One is for use with a tripod. I'll send you a photo. Send me your address via a message on the forum and we will work out the exact delivery cost. As I say on my website any problems just return the handle. Regards, Matt

    NEW GH2 Handle

Hmmm not as much interest as I would like. Not sure why, maybe people could enlighten me? Is it due to cost, the imminent arrival of the GH3 or something else? I'm going to drop the cost to £69.99 or $99.99 (if you are in the States). Regards, Matt www.lowkeyhandles.com

    NEW GH2 Handle

The first 10 I'm selling for £99 or $149.99 including free shipping. The cost is to recoup some of the outlay and to be able to develop the handle further. If the handle is not right for you I will give a refund. I will use PayPal to request and to return money if needed. So all very simple. All you have to pay for is the return shipping cost. About $33 for the States. Plus for being involved from the start if and as the handle evolves I will supply the first 10 people with 2 more versions at just above cost as a thank you. There's plenty more info on the little website I made www.lowkeyhandles.com Please take a look. You can see the handle, baseplate etc. in more detail. And yes I am looking at doing wood and yes I'm looking at doing a handle with a rubberised finish but it all takes time. You can use the handle with or without the strap. Depends on how secure you want to feel. Regards, Matt www.lowkeyhandles.com

    NEW GH2 Handle

Great idea. Here are some more pics. (Not the best pics, taken with a phone, just wanted to post asap)

    NEW GH2 Handle

Hi, I have made a handle for the GH2 which I would like to make available to other people. Please take a look at my website www.lowkeyhandles.com if you are interested in more info. Thanks
  19. Hi, I want to make and possibly sell an accessory for the GH2 that would include a base plate that extended by about 10mm from the front of the camera. My question is does anybody own lenses or lens adaptors that have such wide diameters they extend below the base of the camera. As the base plate would extend out forward by 10mm flush from the bottom of the camera it would block any lens or adaptor that extended below the bottom of the camera. Does anybody have lenses or adaptors this would cause a problem for? Thanks in advance for any responses.

    GH2 Workflow

Hi, Looking at upgrading my computer to enable editing with the intention of uploading short films to Vimeo etc. Just wondered what computers and software other people were using and the pros and cons. What sort of computer spec are people using. I guess it's a toss up between Mac\PC and FCP\Adobe. Are all the people with Adobe running CS5.5 or will older versions like CS4 do the job? Any additional software people use ie. Magic Bullet Looks and Twixtor etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt
