  1. GH3 offers twice the recording time over G6, so 1 battery in GH3 last like 2 batteries in G6
  2. Thanks for the write up Olly P, looks like the BMPCC still need to have a few more polish before becoming a proper cam.   I can also shoot a day's long video using just 1 battery on GH3, the only time I have to change battery is if I didn't charge it right up on the day before.  Kinda regret getting 3 batteries as 2 batteries is really plenty enough for a GH3.   The only thing need to be unleashed on GH3 is the hack, All-I is seriously compromised with only 72Mbps.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86ND5X8SjSQ   Pretty interesting about the new colour creator feature, it can be applied to video too! Does that mean goodbye to 4X4 coloured filters? :P   Its like colour grading in camera.
  4. The high ISO is definitely an improvement over E-M5 and GX7
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAIF5Q5tPAQ     Best to watch at 1080p for compare, though I wish he posted on Vimeo though
  6. With the recent announcement of Note 3 which can take 4K at 30fps, 1080P at 60fps and 720p at 120fps and Acer S2 with 4K at 24fps, I think it will be the mobile phone that drive 4K to mainstream.   Compare to Canon which can only do 1080P @ 30fps which is really pathetic IMHO
  7. If you have the money to buy brand name stuff, that is good for you   But if you aren't well financed then there is cheaper option, and you can use that extra money to buy other gear instead or just save up for home loans and stuff.
  8. I wonder when Sigma become 12-25mm F1.2 will it have more bokeh than FF+24-70 F2.8?
  9. Well it was from SAR http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr4-nex-ff-camera-to-be-announced-on-september-24-tomorrow-zeiss-lens-specs/
  10. Too bad the cost will be same as RX1 with body only, a lot more expensive than $1500 6D   Btw there is separate mic slot on E-M1, I hope they really tweak the video to Sony quality at least. (hey that what partnership is for right?)     For 24-70mm 5.6 being "much" smaller that will have to be seen, there is a sensor area that need to be covered, no magic can change physical limit
  11. I guess buying lots of external HDD is the only way for RAW
  12. There is upcoming Olympus E-M1 which have PDAF and no low pass filter, should take care of the tracking issue     For wedding shoot this guy done a lot of weddings by just using the E-M5 http://shutterleaf.co.uk/blog/olympus-omd-em5-for-wedding-photography-experience-with-3-micro-four-third-camera-bodies-a-review   This guy uses E-M5 for wedding video https://vimeo.com/69368786       For comparison with GH3, if using RAW the difference is not too much, but on jpeg it is less sharp and more pale than Olympus. AF wise I found GH3 to be slightly more accurate and faster especially in low light (it got -3EV-18 AF range, same as 6D, better than 70D's -0.5EV)   Video wise GH3 is a lot better, currently with Olympus the video quality breaks up if there is fast action or complex scene which result in blockings that ruin the video
  13. Well for RAW I recommand 4TB+ of HDD in RAID, a couple of Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB 64GB cards, i7 4770 + 16GB of ram + 240GB SSD if you want smooth workflow, so for the PC side and memory cards you definitely have to spend US$1500+
  14. Looks like GX7 will have 1 stop advantage over Sony made M43 sensor?   http://www.43rumors.com/barney-skies-about-the-gx7-and-first-full-size-iso-image-samples/#comments
  15. With upcoming EF-M43 Speedbooster with electronic contacts (which you have control on EF lens like Iris and focus and IS?) I think active M43 is the way to go, speedbooster with Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 would be 13-25mm F1.2 , all you canon lens will get nice speed bumps and wider POV   Tolkina 11-16mm F2.8 would be 8-11mm F2.0!
  16. If you look at other model that uses 2 Axis IS the video is so jelly (pentax, Sony Alpha, Oly PEN (exclude E-p5) I guess Pana decide to have shaky footage rather than jelly footage
  17. Since it uses the same 2 Axis IBIS that older PEN has I am not surprised, the 2 Axis does not work on video, that why PEN video (Except E-P5) have jelly effect
  18. Look at this guy's video, he is already using E-M5 for wedding video, mostly handheld. Though he used 1 slider, 1 skater and 1 flying shoot with monopod (that one looks like it shoot on jib) http://vimeo.com/69368786
  19. Yes you need to specify the local length when you put manual lens on the camera in order for IS to work properly
  20. I hope with the onboard IBIS will take advantage of the OIS on the lens to make Hyrbid OIS+ as featured on their camcorder and DC   Don't know if Panasonic will use electronic or mechanical 2 axis during video recording.   BMPCC is for specific user who need greater DR and RAW capability, while GX7 is probably *The* pocket camera for the masses
  21. Now there is GX7 which said to have similar video quality as GH3..
  22. I actually start to think the the hardware in G6 is more capable than GH3, streaming videos and peaking. Even Olympus's peaking mode only work on still image
  23. Thanks for the review, looks like G6 is quite the worthy successor to GH2, I wonder would GH2's used price on ebay will finally going down? But the downside definitely should cause some shooter to concern: -Shorter Battery life (if shooting on gigs or other long duration event) -No HDMI out during recording (for monitor through larger screen) -SD Card slot underneath. (be a problem for rig shooter) -no MOV. (what happens if u want to shoot 25/30fps but only 20Mbps in MP4)
