I don't quite understand, but I have the impression that it's impossible to shoot in log without baking the display LUT? Strange, less interesting.

  4. I don't quite understand, but I have the impression that it's impossible to shoot in log without baking the display LUT? Less interesting. I think Sony allows it.
  5. That's what I always say to my people… This camera is a gem. Lets you use unique glass that’s nearly impossible to mount on anything else unless another MFT format device but what cam? ; ) This is what cinema is made of — and still made with ;- )
  6. Kern Pizar 26mm 1.9, Cosmicar 12.5mm 1.9 (some shots are punched in to crop out the vignetting).
  7. Love this camera! : ) Right now, I have a crew to start working with my arsenal based on 4x units... What C mount lenses used there?
  8. I actually came back here after I don't know how long to figure out what camera to get. I've loved my Panasonic S5, until the LCD broke. The frame is now off-center and stuck in selfie mode. Very weird, especially since I babied this camera. And it's past the 6 month warranty from mbp. I bought a nice new external monitor, bit I hate rigging it up. I was thinking of selling it and putting the (probably) meager amount I'd get for it on ebay, now that it's faulty, to another S5, but now I'm afraid any copy I get can break down on me like that. So I'm trying to figure out what to get instead. Recently I finally upgraded to Resolve studio and I've been remastering old projects in 4K. I'm surprised how good I can make old footage look. I have shorts shot on the GH1, Nikon D5100, and the Sony a6300, which I can make look really good in spite of the "old, bad" Sony color science. Even the short on the D5100 looks great. I've already thought for a while that we've had great image quality for a long time now, and the advancements in software have extended the life of these old cameras. All I really want is something compact, with good 1080p that doesn't have horrible artifacts or chroma noise, uncompressed internal audio with good preamps, enough dynamic range that highlights don't blow out so easily (I can live with dark blacks and even kinda prefer it) and long battery life and is easy to use without rigging it up. Oh, and doesn't overheat. I've been trying for a while to pare down my gear and see how far I can go with minimal equipment, which can be burdensome. I totally get why my favorite director, the late David Lynch (RIP) loved shooting with the Sony PD150. He knew it looked like shit but he loved the creative possibilities it gave him. He could shoot stripped down without a crew and cumbersome equipment to slow him down. He called the PD150 his "ugly, beautiful little thing". It's why I loved shooting with camcorder and the GH1 int he first place. I want to try and de-program myself from the cult of pixel-peeping and dynamic range charts and just embrace the "ugly". Any recommendations? I liked the G7 a lot when i had it. Here are some old short (and sample footage) remastered: "Ballad of Crazy Pete" was shot with a hacked GH1 (100mbps hack although it never yielded bitrates that high, some shots in that short are as low as 10mbps) "Crappy Halloween" was shot with the Nikon D5100 (or was it the 5200?). I don't think I used nay flat or special picture profile. I'm still remastering Chicken but here's a grading test I did with resolve. Shot on the a6300. 8bit Slog 2 with the "old, bad" Sony color science. All of these have film grain applied. Without it the remastered images were pretty clean after light NR (not all shots needed it). Just for fun here's an old G7 test video from like 2017. Shot in 4K, but I don't have the raw footage anymore so this is just the original 1080p export scaled to 4K in Adobe Media Encoder. Another thing to note, I recently did a paid video gig with an old Canon HF100 consumer camcorder. I bought it for like $60 just for fun "vibes" and the client, who is a young woman in her early 20s, got really excited when I said I could shoot with an old camcorder, and requested I shoot with it. So times you don't need the latest and greatest.

  10. We live all in a weird world today but blame Marvel! LOL ; ) EAG :- )
  11. We have today a new sub-forum expressly open by our webmaster in order to include this niche as many others of similar kind. Have you already noticed it? https://www.eoshd.com/comments/forum/38-gimbal-dji-drone-action-cameras/ I believe once up now by Andrew, it would be nice to have a few selection of these threads moved to there instead? If not for anything else, it might help to establish a new trend and become people here used to visit the sub-forum too, increase the visibility and diversify the offer for valuable information on topic.
  12. Just as an add-on to the topic: Feiyutech realsed a new Scorp Mini, with stronger motors (good) a detachable wireless back handle (kinda good - the remote function is interesting, but I have concerns about robustness) and an updated tracking model (better, but not as good as DJI's). Performance look almost on par with the RS4 Mini, but much cheaper.
  13. We’ve been using AI intensively lately in all aspects of business and this industry too, and I’m still amazed at how much it contributes to putting food on the table for all of us. This isn’t about violating copyright, but rather about using AI with goodwill — it serves people and helps generate income for our families and coworkers. A dream made real. Fits creation. It doesn’t serve (at least to me) to replace anyone or anything (far from it!). I don’t need to see much to get that. On the contrary, we now have an army at our service ; ) When in good hands, there’s really not much doubt about this new kid on the block. I guess no producer is refusing these precious hands and brains. I confess, I love tools! And no less, what people can do with them! ;- ) - EAG
  14. Not to bring religion into it, but Jesus wept. The column highlighted is in the classic Ionic style. They need to stop teaching the classics at places such as Oxford, Cambridge or in architecture. And knock down what remains of Ancient Greece.
  15. I think you might need to seek professional help before you go shoot up a pizza restaurant (which doesn't even have a basement). The AltCine people took their camera out and saw a neat-looking building and filmed it. To demonstrate detail, they zoomed in on a thing that has diagonal and curved lines that show aliasing. Please don't turn a camera discussion site into some bullshit about freemason conspiracy theories.
  16. you should probably get in touch with the police about your concerns. I'm sure they are competent enough to get it sorted. I have no idea where that building is, but if i had of walked past it, i would have taken exactly the same photo because of the symmetry. I'd guess its close to where he works or on the way home perhaps. Heck i have even been known to drive a couple hours to photograph wheat silo's on sunset. We know diddly squat about its past, who owns it now or before and you want to break out the pitchfork and torches. my front door so you don't add me to the conspiracy list.
  17. Took the gimbal and e-m1 to a local lookout today. didn't get to the lookout part, as there's some huge rocks and a cave atmosphere thing happening at the base. The camera gimbal combination gets heavy pretty quick. Not surprising considering my fitness level. I have grabbed some stills from todays foray Its a couple hours later now and my shoulders feel like falling off. I may have to start doing bicep curls with gimbal and camera. I had the 17mm takumar fish eye on the e-m1. Also set it f8 out in the sun and set the focus to 4m or so in front of me. Bit annoying there are no filter threads, as i would have put a vari nd on it however back then it would have been a fish eye on full frame and its understandable that filter threads probably weren't considered, although with the m43 crop, the look is not nearly so wide however. Its quite narrow in places not much wider than shoulder width but opens up about 15 meters in. Its also a trip hazard trying to go though with a gimbal in hand. Rocks and tree roots all over the place. I did do a vortex shot looking upward. Actually i tried a few things, learnt a few things. I will go back with the 24mm sirui to see what sort of difference it makes and i'm kinda looking forward to seeing the comparison. I do notice a bit of side to side movement when walking but it doesn't bother me overly much as i figure some movement is natural when walking along a trail. Sure pans and tilts should be smooth however i am curious as to other peoples expectations are? I also think i need to change the motor speeds as it pans and tilts much quicker than i would like
  18. Thought I better flag this video up since there are some serious concerns here. I'm not sure what ALTCINE are up to: The video emphasizes certain symbols which are known to be associated with the organized ritual-abuse of childen, as reported by a Guardian Award-winning, Times / Telegraph journalist in this article here: https://vo.lc/School-Of-Fools-Aldenham.html I have taken screen-grabs of the symbols from the ALTCINE video posted above. I have highlighted the relevant symbols in green boxes: Ostensibly as a demonstration of the camera, the video then zooms into the symbol above the door, which contains one of the main symbols used by these cults: Additionally: The abacus on the capital of both columns either side of the door, precisely match the symbols used by the cult operating the Aldenham School Library (and at many other locations) where children were abused in rituals. The library can be seen in many photographs, here. I have included one below, for comparison: The symbol above the door in the ALTCINE video matches other symbols found at the same location, and many other locations of abuse, described in detail here and here. In summary, there's no gentle way to put this: For some reason the ALTCINE video is full of occult pedophile-symbolism. The Power Of Symbols Naturally, there may be some explanation for this: The makers of the video are unaware of the occult (hidden) purpose of the building in their video. However, the problem we have is that pedophiles actively use these symbols to demark territory, and to signal to each other that their behavior is socially acceptable; sometimes by including the symbols in videos and movies. These symbols are also designed to trigger an unconscious fear response in those who were abused in conjunction with these symbols, as children. Basic associative-conditioning. This may be very hard for some of us to accept, but there are those who walk among us who take immense pride in their abuse of children, and flaunt their 'power' in the architecture of buildings, and the media they create that includes these symbols. Let's hope ALTCINE made a serious mistake here. But to me, it looks intentional.
  19. No, not were, oh gosh, they still are: https://vimeo.com/channels/staffpicks Here's one (perfectly random), just added 10 days or a week ago: Use a VPN or proxy tool as add-on to your browser... Looks like they serve not only to China! As easy as the need for a cup of water! : ) Andrew is right, they look like to play pranks on us but there should be some sorta legal background to their idea of blocking it in certain regions such as EU, I'm afraid. We may become a Soviet Union, full of regulations like Pink Floyd's two lost souls in a fishbowl or such as the 1:30 rule for leverage on financial markets to only mention in specific a single example versus the world outside 'the West'... : X Go figure, U.S. is not better now with China playing the part of the free market's best friends... We live all in a comedy, no many doubts out here. For some reason Brexit happened... ; ) Later on, don't blame the messenger! ;- ) I wonder if Putin would ever have invaded Ukraine in the way he did three years ago... We should never show our weaknesses. Not underrate who don't like or compete with us. Rule number one and rule number two :- ) - EAG
  20. I already do it daily, just not here... ; ) Well, I think it's natural Andrew has a scope for his forum on his favourite tools. Nothing against, I actually share his love as I'm sure everyone here do. The fact we have now a sub-forum especially dedicated to these other tools only bring those people there really interested to look for information on them, so I believe such approach ends helpful. So far, a new thread I started here 24 hours ago has only about 1/6 of the views compared to one in the main section. It really narrows down the audience to those specifically interested in these tools, which is kind of a bonus. Yet regarding your comment about energy drinks, I suggest it’s better to finish with water instead ;- )

  22. New details dropping today: https://petapixel.com/2025/06/04/gfx-eterna-sensor-formats-film-simulations-and-more-revealed/ - Will include OLPF - Adds readout modes including 3840x2880 full sensor open gate (up to48fps), additional anamorphic ff modes, and super35 modes up to 6k. PP also lists the 5.8k 2.39:1 full sensor width mode as new, but that exists on the GFX 100 II already. - Codecs seem to match GFX 100 II - Supports 3D LUT - Film simulations which seem mostly to match GFX 100 II - Custom frame guides - Remote control of multiple cameras - Bluetooth LE support for some accessories - Monitor will be a 5 inch 16:9 panel with 6.22 million dots and a max brightness of 2000 nits, onboard display is a 3 inch 3:2 panel with 1.04 million dots and 700 nit max brightness For me, it's not differentiating very strongly from the GFX 100 II yet. Maybe the next tranche of information will distinguish it more. Otherwise, it's hard to see why I wouldn't just put a cage on my GFX 100 II, put in a dummy battery, and get 90% of the same camera - and a super portable stills camera otherwise. OLPF could be nice for video, sure, but almost definitely not nice enough to make up the difference in cost. I can say with some certainty that Super 35 modes are not the thing that would sell a GF Eterna cinema camera to me. 🤣
  23. Means I can also leave my diffusion filters at home 😄 I don't think its that bad actually.
  24. Sure, but still you need to watch 1000 videos before you find one decent video. It works great for informational video's, but actual commercials, brand videos that are inspirational seems hard to find. The ratio on skilled crew on vimeo looks way higher. In vimeo for example "the staff picks" were great.
  25. It's a shame about Vimeo, they have been an absolute clown show. But I think YouTube does the job well. The way to use it is to get premium, to nuke all the ads. Much better then.
  26. Hi, Now that vimeo is not allowing any searches in europe. I was wondering If I should create a website, that allows people to post their vimeo/youtube links on it or share links from other creators that are inspirational or just are amazing work. Where viewers can search, comment, like it trough this website. As it is hard to find good stuff on youtube for inspiration, and now without vpn impossible on vimeo. Is there interest in this type of website? Let me know, if there is enough interest I will build one. As it will only work if enough creators start sharing work on this site. Cheers!
  27. Got to love a bit of diffraction 🙈
