r1mx kind of olpf integrated on prosumer cams will be big features. how many prosumer or hybrid cams have good enough olpf? how many do they have something like olpf?

I can color grade GoPro 12 footage to surreal colors, and impress many viewers. but still it is no r1mx, f3, 5d3ml. experienced viewers can tell the differences.

if someone say the latest prosumer video cameras are better than r1mx, epic-x mysteries-x, 5d3ml, f3, I really doubt his judgement, no matter what kind of achievements he has. you can say the latest prosumer cameras are sharper, more dp, more convenient, but are they really better in the whole image quality? I seriously doubt so. for the latest top cinema cameras like Alexa35, that is another story. but prosumer cams? hybrids?

if you talk to some experienced dps like David Fischer, if he has to choose two cameras, either c70 or r1mx, will he choose c70? I have to shake my head, when people blah blah showing their ignorance and try to shut up real knowledgeable people, even by attacking them personally. yeh, you don't agree with us 24pers, you are from Egypt, you are a shoddy md, or double mds?! if you are in our camp, you are a good guy, worthy padding on the shoulder. politics is every where, even on camera forums. lol.

it is funny that people claim that they are abreast of the curve, yet they don't even have extensive first hand experience on the latest ml firmware, mlv app, and the whole workflow. a lot of issues complained here have been solved during the past 10 years. now 5d3ml 14 bit 5.7k anamorphic 1x3 and 3.5k 1x1 crop modes are very robust. if you use 14 bit, you don't see pink color or banding even after heavy cc. I just sigh and walk away when I see people arguing about something about ml that they don't even have hands on experience and don't even update themselves with the latest tricks. if you point out, they will show their "knowledge" and look "down" at you. lol.

people are funny that they can define "cinematic" or "filmic" by trend. r1mx's olpf was tuned to mimic the film which was the standard in Hollywood at the time, and now reviving again. so r1mx is much more suitable for cinema projects than the latest breed. for the resolution, r1mx 4.5k 24p ar 2.4 is enough for commercial theaters. if you want to challenge the r1mx's filmic character, you are challenging a whole generation of experienced dps, including David Fischer.

The image has aged well but not the feature set. It's lacking AF, IBIS, 4K, HFR, and a good battery or audio. The Olympus E-M1 II is 400 quid and a good alternative.

Yep, I know - I have the OG LX100 and looking for a reasonable priced LX100 for years... But after seeing that Leica really ported their interface to the camera, I've raised some doubts - because the Leica interface works better with that new buttom layout (the camera have fewer buttons than the LX100, which already could have 1 or 2 more...), which make it harder to work with Pansonic menus. Somebody mentioned that the EVF is new, a OLED one now - a good move, becasue almost everyone hated that field sequential one. But no confirmation until now. The “new” Leica camera, internally at least, is their version of the Panasonic LX100ii. It is wearing a different jacket so is far more like a mini Q than an LX100ii and it has the very elegant Leica interface and the RAWs are DNG. Those differences make it a very nice little camera to be fair but the price…. Well, obviously.

Just so you understand the l-rumors/m43rumors guy's shenanigans. He receives a proper photo and full specs of a camera, even getting a chance to play with it; so this what the next week's posts are: Day 1- "hey guys I've got word of new camera for l mount or M43". (speculation starts) Day 2- "It sounds like it might be a new l-mount camera, but I'll have confirmation tomorrow." (speculation continues) Day 3- "Here's a photo (it's blurry) of the new camera." (Of course, no one in the camera business knows how to make a proper photo, but "sells" the idea it was a paparazzi-style shot, fueling even more speculation) Day 4- "Here are some specs, but I don't have time to write everything after such a long day of "understanding" the specs. (notably leaving out important ones)" (more speculation on specs) Day 5- "Sorry, didn't have time to release more specs, but I had a chance to play with the camera". (more speculation on specs) Day 6- "I was able to get a few more photos" (more speculation on specs) Day 7- "Here are the specs. What do you guy think?" (specs are suitable or not) Of course, between each post, you've got several ads. I might even be forgetting a few days. I kid you not; this was the S9 launch. Kinda tempted to get a Deity SMic3 myself (or a secondhand Deity SMic2), as I'd rather not put a pricey Sanken CS1e on a camera as a scratch mic when I'm on someone's shoots.

4K is 4x the size of 2K so it makes sense that 4K ProRes would be 3x (or more) the size of 2K ProRes. 🙂

True, it's bad enough for Panasonic being spread thinly supporting two mounts, but to release a similar camera for both mounts at (almost) the same time would be kinda bonkers insane. Makes more sense for "a GX9 mk2" to come out a year or more after the S9 Instead they should release the opposite of a S9! Such as a GH7????? Or a LX100 / LX15 update, which is also "the opposite" to the S9, but in the other direction.
