You mean the movies and not RLM, right? Because RLM are both wonderful and sort of neighbors (I'm in Minneapolis, they're just a few hours away in Milwaukee and we Midwesterners need to stick together). Anyway, I wish it were just a US problem - but the non-US market also hasn't been too kind to a lot of non-blockbuster/Marvel movies.

David Lynch auction including Sony / Pentax / Canon cameras

You're right, and there is one called "I'm back" or something like that. It sells a bunch of units every time it goes viral again, for some reason. It has a film canister form factor and a 21 megapixel micro 4/3 sensor and costs about $500. There's also one that replaces the entire camera back and has a 1/2.3 inch 16 megapixel sensor and costs $600. If I remember right, both need a winder thingie to be attached to the bottom of the camera and they don't really have any good way of knowing when you push down the button. There's also a medium format back which costs about $550 and also uses a 1/2.3 inch 16 megapixel sensor. So you can turn your big medium format which used to make a big film negative into a big medium format camera which uses an action camera sensor. 𤣠Anyway. For people who really want to use their old Nikon F3, but... worse and digital, those guys kind of have the market locked down. And if you really want your digital G2, I bet the film canister thingie would work! š - Today

I think that is quite a true statement. Of course it depends on your needs, how invested you are in a system, how many lenses etc and despite my intention (as things stand) to switch to Sony or hopefully Nikon next year, I would be doing this despite Lumix having what I think are the best current cameras for my needs. But itās that term āneedsā/wants that would allow me to sacrifice some outright video spec for the bigger picture which for me, having done my maths, is a body less than I currently using and whopping 4 less lenses. Less lens swappingā¦in fact virtually zero lens swapping, cross body alignment with batteries etc and just a lot less faff than the 3 systems I am currently using! But as to just getting the job done, for my needs, based on purely video spec and real world results, nothing else I would rather be using in 2025. 2026 though⦠Well that one is up to you Nikon. You know what you have to do which is not drop the ball on the ZR and deliver where your rivals in 2025 have so far fallen short⦠Sony with the FX2 and itās š©LCD and Lumix with the continuation, albeit updated S5 body style because Iād prefer something āFX30ishā and I say FX30ish because that actually does have a good LCD. Iāll add to that list Nikon Z6iii for the also boring body style. Canon š„±

Now I know! So there was the Lunar one that everyone laughed at and they sold maybe 3 and all to ex-astronauts. Or the blind. This one, the Lusso looked quite cool but just 100 units sold in Hong Kong. The best looking of these skin jobs was the Solar, but that turned out to be a hoax. It would be quite cool to see some more custom houses such as this, a bit like Zagatto in the car world, re-skinning more mainstream models to make them a little more interesting⦠Or just get them involved in the design stage and sack off your former cardboard box ādesignā team. Iāve always thought there would be a market for putting the more modern gubbins into older āretroā bodies also. Iād like a digital Contax G2. -

As the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 is almost glued to my X-S20, this one get my interest for sure. -
Could be that when it comes to real world, Lumix have the best tools onboard, and gets the job done easier. Or the started to spend a lot more in ambassadors disguised as switchers - here in Brazil a very famous photographer switched to Lumix after 12 years of Canon and a month after he became sponsored by them. Is an interesting thing because here we never had people sponsored by brands - in fact, until this year, Lumix even don't have official presence here.

Have a read of https://www.dpreview.com/articles/0518873678/hasselblad-lunar-an-act-of-lunacy It looks like it's a (rare, only 100 made) Hasselblad Lusso, based on the Sony A7R. -
Good point š(it did go lower than Ā£1299 recently from a some sellers - see the red line below). From https://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Panasonic/Panasonic-Lumix-S-Cameras/Panasonic-Lumix-S5D-Camera-with-28-200mm-Macro-Lens ...and for the S9 + 18-40 kit over the same period - https://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Panasonic/Panasonic-Lumix-S-Cameras/Panasonic-Lumix-S9-Camera-with-18-40mm-Lens:
-
The Euro deal is significantly better! ā¬1299 is 'only' about Ā£1100.
-
It's similar in the UK (Ā£1299). Personally I think Panasonic should offer the S9 + 28-200 as a reasonably compact FF travel cam kit (e.g. like Sony have the APS-C A6700 + 18-135mm kit).

I think innovating relentlessly until you reach market leadership and coasting thereafter is a pretty standard Sony strategy. Unfortunately

I'm seeing deals in Germany and France for a S5D + 28-200 for 1299 euros- that's a great deal!
-
It's been on my wish list for a while... (I already own the 18-40 and 20-60, and I'm more likely to buy the more-compact APS-C Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 than the Pana 24-60).

@Noli - IMHO the other 2 buttons are none functional. I don't feel or hear any click. Original functionality of previous versions of this EVF was related to industrial instruments/devices. It was meant to be put on a protective helmet. Video input was AV. This previous version industrial EVF was fit with higher resolution sensor, HDMI input and adapted to another application - camera EVF. After your posting decided to test the EVF with other cameras. Borrowed a Sony A7CR from a friend. With this camera EVF had the same or similar problem to what you describe. Interestingly when I switch HDMI output on Sony A7CR to 1080i interlaced, there is no flickering or garbage but of course split on 2 and can see only the upper half portion. If I choose auto or 1080p - then initially picture in EVF is some flickering garbage. I have found that have to wait certain time, quite long - 5 to 7 min. After this when I switch EVF off / on picture becomes good and clear. It works as it suppose to work. If I a switch briefly camera off / then on again it still works. But if camera is switched off for longer is stops working and have to wait again. I used also external monitor with HDMI out. Camera is plugged in HDMI IN of the monitor and EVF in HDMI OUT of the monitor. It works without a problem. IMHO your conclusion that problem is related to power delivery from camera trough HDMI to EVF is correct. It is strange than after some time , EVF or Camera worms up and it works on certain cameras. Curious to see if HDMI cable with additional USB power delivery will solve problem. It won't be the best solution but at least it will work reliably. Have to warn everybody who wants to get this EVF that it doesn't work with all cameras. Guess I was lucky as it works without those problems on Sony ZV-E1.
-
And a high quality LCD and not the piece of shite they decided to attach to this thing š I get why they added the tilt EVF, even though I have zero personal interest in it, but the LCD quality just makes no sense to me.
-
I'm surprised at andrew's positivity at the fx2. I will say some positive things: I like the viewfinder (detachable would be better). I like the 2 screw holes at the bottom. and I like the exposed ports. But yeah.. Nikon won't have to do much with the ZR to become top option. Open gate, and Red's colour would be enough.
-
Doesn't really work the same as an actual EVF, a loupe on a flip-out screen isn't solid enough to press the camera into your face for stability. Kinda works on a tilt screen. On a fixed screen or a flipscreen left flat against the body it's fine, and this is ok for cameras without a traditional EVF, but you don't get the tilt benefit.
