Administrators Andrew Reid Posted May 16 Administrators Share Posted May 16 If anyone wants to have some retro CCD fun then I have found a fun little bargain for you... https://www.wexphotovideo.com/olympus-e-500-digital-slr-camera-body-used-3242908/ This is using the same Kodak CCD sensor tech as the M8, just a slightly smaller chip at 2x crop vs 1.5x. The colours and grain are a thing of filmic beauty and it has the rather lovely Olympus colour science in JPEGs too. PannySVHS
No kidding? @Andrew Reid I love the colours people are getting from the M8 sensor. Some classy classic read from a photoblog favorite of mine. Those colours in these shots, bw as well! https://blog.mingthein.com/2012/07/12/revisiting-the-leica-m8-a-cheap-entry-into-digital-rangefinders/ Emanuel

We need more stuff of this! : ) Who cares about new features when the old ones are already prone to shine? : P We need shooters and art coming from, not much else... The lens has some distortion. The camera is not good at night. Other than that, it is good to use. Color is good at iso 100. At iso 400, it starts to smear. I brought it to DC once as my sole traveling gig. I like it except limited use at night.
QuickHitRecord
Brought mine along on my honeymoon in Ecuador a few years ago. Kind of a slow camera to work with and not my usual keeper rate, but I do like the shots that I was able to get: eatstoomuchjam, PannySVHS and maxJ4380

I miss Ming a lot, the guy is brilliant. But now he have a very well respected watch company, only shoots for some clients and (of course) all the media for his watch company. https://www.ming.watch/ PannySVHS
