1.9.7 Firmware Update adds In-Camera Formatting to BMCC & BMPCC

Mmm, a new tiled menu, with some new features, too. Looks kind of neat, but BM could still improve the overall functionality a bit. A shortcut for white balance and maybe sensitivity would be welcome. There already was a one for peaking and another for focus magnification. Nevertheless, it's nice to see BM actively supporting the Pocket and the original Cinema, too.

The in-camera formatting is great, but the new menu is pointless. I think they just needed somewhere to put the formatting option and this was the easiest way to do it. It's just more stuff to scroll through to get to the essentials as far as I'm concerned. As you say Quirky, ISO, WB and shutter angle should be much easier to access (and ideally at least in live view, if not while actually recording). Now the given path is to navigate from 'metadata' to 'settings' and then through Camera Name, Day, Month, Year, Hour and Minute before getting to ISO! It's ridiculous ...

What we really need is some anamorphic sizes to use

But the Pocket sensor has a 16:9 image area doesn't it? There is no cropping going on in camera, so any anamorphic sizes would just reduce resolution and the area of the sensor used (unlike the GH4 for example), which doesn't make any sense. This can presumably be achieved in post anyway by stretching and cropping.

Ah, didn't know this - nevermind then.

Yeah cropping can be done, but again you lose a bit of resolution - RAW is much better for cropping, but a PINA.
