1. Hi all, my first post here. I finished putting together this little test. It's been fun, testing out my lenses, shoulder rig, monopod and also editing and playing with the sound. I've been using my Canon 7D for four years now, only for stills. Lenses used: Vivitar 70-210 f/3.5 (heavy lens on the shoulder rig!), Nikon 75-150 f/3.5 (lovely lens!), Nikon 55 Micro f/2.8, Olympus Zuiko 50 f/1.4 (perhaps a couple of shots with the OM Zuiko 28 f/3.8, don't remember...). Hope you'll like it!
2. The official topic for discussion of Magic Lantern raw video recording on Canon DSLRs.
3. Hello, New to the anamorphic game, have some questions. Few pics of the Hypergonar HiFi2 on a 7D (BMPCC next up). So far the results have been very nice and love the flares, but we noticed this lens is a bit soft. We've tried adding 1", 2", 3" of space between the camera lens and anamorphic lens hoping to find the "focal point"... didn't notice any difference. Moving on, Stopping down at F5.6 - F11 has increased the sharpness, but not by much. I'm curious if anyone else has a quick fix or has played with the inner glass orientation ? Any info. is good info. :)
4. Hi everyone, at first sorry if I may sound a bit confusing, english is not my first language, I'm no expert on cameras. Also sorry for making this post too long.   My father recently bought a new camera and gave me his Canon 7D and a Canon 24-105 Lens. I know the 7d is a nice camera for video specially with Magic Lantern, but I was thinking about selling the 7D and get the Blackmagic Cinema Camera.    I think is REALLY important mentioning that I would be selling the 7d here in where I live, and buying the BMCC on US, also the 7D here is worth the same as the BMCC in US so it would be like getting a BMCC "for free".   I know the BMCC has some issues like not being able to delete videos from the camera, see how much space i have left on the ssd, no audio meter.. but I think this will eventually be fixed on a future update.    At first I was considering the EF version so I could use my 24-105 lens without any kind of adaptor, but i read that the crop factor would be an issue on the EF version.    From what I read if I get the MFT version and use a speed booster, I could get the same crop factor as an APS-C sensor, which would be similar to the 7D. Is it possible to use the MFT speed boster and a EF to MFT adaptor so I can use my canon lens on the BMCC MFT while the Metabones EF to MFT speed boster does not come out ?   And also, is it a smart choice to get the BMCC instead of the 7d ?   Once again sorry if I said something wrong, and also for making this long post, but I think is important to make everything claer so I don't regrat my choice later on.   Thank you!
5. Hey there, Long time reader, first time poster. I recently filmed an engagement session, and wanted to achieve a shallow depth of field in bright light without using an ND filter. So, knowing that I would end up slowing the footage down to about 40%, I cranked up the shutter speed in order to hit around f/2. The results? Well, see for yourself:   http://acelegendary.com/blog/2013/4/9/sean-liz-save-the-date   Filmed with the following gear: 7D + Zeiss 50mm f/2 Makro-Planar and T2i + Canon 50mm f/1.4 (on Glidecam HD2000).
6. Hi everyone, First time post and looking for advice as most people are. I currently have two dedolights but I'm looking for an LED flood to add to my kit. My budget is currently around $2000 (or £1500). I live in the UK so would be great to not have to deal with postage and import taxes by buying from over here.   I film interviews, music videos and also a fair bit outdoors so would like to buy something that I can attach a battery to. One website recommended the Gekko Karesslite but I would like some other options to look at before I commit to spending that much money. Thanks in advance and sorry if I've missed anything out! Joe
7. Hi I'm shooting a short over 4 days in England around October and looking to hire an Iscorama 36? The budget doesn't justify buying an Iscorama (plus they're a buggar to find!) Are there any owners in England who would rent their Isco 36 and clamp out to me? Also, out of curiosity, would people prefer the GH2 (Anamorphic hack with lomos?) setup or 7D (with Isco 36?) We have the option but can't find many good examples of the GH2 ana hack? Many thanks, James
8. I mostly film snowboarding and have been considering investing in a dslr of my own as I have been filming with them for a while. I do take some photos but I mostly film 90% of the time. The new 650d looks amazing (with all the new features that I won't mention as I assume you know all about them), however would the 60d or even a 7d be any better for filming? I know they have a few advantages like improved weather sealing, but when it comes to filming what core advantages will the 60d/7d have over the 650d? I hope this doesn't seem a stupid question, I just can't work out where the benefit would be spending the extra money. Cheers
