I've still been using Nikon for stills. Their new Z primes are incredible.
-
It's cool, and good to know. But I'd never get or use one unless there was a specific shot I needed that I couldn't get with any other camera I have.
-
No one should choose 8bit for anything ever
-
Hopefully they release something this year before the competition catches up to the xh2s sensor Fuji also has a lot of meeting room space booked at NAB. Would love to be a fly on the wall there.

Comparing the Canon EOS R7, R10, Fuji X-H2 & Panasonic S5 II
D Verco replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Complaining about the Fuji image being too sharp is the dumbest thing I've heard honestly. It hasn't got over sharpening artefacts like DJI's image. Like Django has said, it's more a result of the design of the camera (no olpf, etc). Having more dynamic range than anyone else also helps make an image look sharper because of the latitude you get in post. It's also the direction imagery is going. Lenses are getting sharper, cameras are getting higher res, autofocus is getting more accurate. In a few years other cameras available today are going to be considered too soft. But even if you still think it's sharp - it's got to be the easiest thing to change if you wanted. Use soft lenses, add softening filters, remove some clarity, mid-contrast, and sharpness in post. -
It's actually pretty genius that Fuji used arri c-log and rec2020 standards with Flog-2

What are you going to be shooting?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/65ye9cnygs07gu0/AACXz9IPrvgmH_knwcX4_avQa?dl=0 I'd recommend the Gafpa Gear luts for Arri log conversion and a 250D lut.
-
Also internal Flog2 will always have more dynamic range than the raw options because it's coming from a 14bit readout
-
Have you considered that it doesn't matter if the final image quality is as good as it is?
-
Either way, the xh2s sensor is probably the best on the market under 8k

Fresh firmware just dropped. Apparently huge AF improvements.

Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)
D Verco replied to newfoundmass's topic in Cameras
You might enjoy his comedy but it's a cop out to excuse his garbage reviews as comedy. Walking around the suburbs with a camera at arms length, squinting at a 3" screen doesn't qualify as real world usage or review worthy. lol actually that just tells you everything you need to know -
Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

This guy hasn't made any quality work ever. At least Gerald has the technical side down. This guys has neither. -
Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

Can someone explain the hype?I'm glad Panasonic finally have AF, but it looks very similar to the xh2s but with worse rolling shutter and an unusable hdmi lag -
Whatever has the highest resolution, lowest rolling shutter, and best dynamic range. Also open gate will be useful if you don't want everything to be 16:9.

These are my top 3, and in this order
-
Yes. I shot 5 weddings recently and it worked pretty well on all of them. This is the only one I've edited so far (a few shots were MF with an old nikon lens)
-
I've got the 16-55 f2.8 on the xh2s and the autofocus is excellent
-
Actually it would be amazing if Fuji wrapped up the xh2s in a body with XLR's, internal ND's, and rear battery mount like a c70 or zcam/ box camera.
-
I've had the xh2s for a couple months now. Just shooting test stuff but the footage is absolutely unreal. Don't have anything else to say except that camera conspiracies guy is the most annoying person on the internet. I'd like to see him try to make something look good before constantly whinging.

We absolutely don't know that these aren't better yet. Early footage has looked alright to me (there barely is any), but we only have to wait another month to actually see how those things really have or haven't improved instead of guessing
