  1. Hey everyone! I wanted to share something I've been working on for the past while - Lumap, a DCTL for Resolve that consolidates all your basic grading adjustments into one intuitive panel. The Problem I Was Trying to Solve I got tired of using complex node structures just to do basic exposure, contrast, and saturation adjustments that would look natural. Coming from a photography background using Capture One and Lightroom, I missed having simple sliders in one place that just worked without having to think about CSTs, colour spaces, and multiple different nodes. What Lumap Does Instead of wrestling with lift/gamma/gain wheels, Lumap gives you: Photometric exposure - Linear stops like changing exposure in-camera Temperature and Tint - For white balance Intelligent contrast - References your source’s format's middle grey without overcooking the toe/shoulder Brightness - Targets midtones while preserving highlights and shadows Organic highlight/shadow recovery - create organic, film-like roll-offs that seamlessly blend into your midtones Smart saturation - Preserves luminance and prevents skin tone oversaturation Film-style density - Control the intensity and depth of colours you get from subtractive saturation techniques Why Sliders Instead of Wheels? Most of us aren't using professional grading panels - we're using mice and trackpads. Sliders are just faster and more responsive for cursor input. Plus, if you're coming from photo editing, this interface will feel immediately familiar. There's a free demo version so you can test if it fits your workflow. https://www.dhyanverco.com/lumap Would love to hear your thoughts if you give it a try! And happy to answer any questions.
  2. Maybe. What's the z6iii overheating like?
  3. also on the photo I posted the viltrox logo is on the left, but on the product photos of the adapter the logo's on the top?
  4. Honestly Nikon really needs a better log profile. If they adopt Log3G10 or something that brings more dynamic range, that'll be a great thing. But you're right, if that's the only Red tech it's going to be very lacklustre. They might add things like traffic lights for exposure monitoring but that's not a huge thing. And it'd be wild if they still didn't have open gate. Nikon's been talking about the importance of video in interviews for years, they've lost customers who need an ecosystem that includes video bodies. And now they own Red. I think people are expecting a camera that can be used for video work in the fx3/ fx6 C50/ C80 category. So if all they bring is a low end model, people are going to be pissed.
  5. Apparently this is the new Nikon camera. It looks incredibly thin, which now with the microsd leak makes me thing it's an entry level camera. which is very disapointing for me personally.
  6. unless you're doing selfies, the Z8 has a better screen mechanism. Also it won't overheat.
  7. Can you clarify this - so it works well on PAL inputs, but not NTSC?

    Sony FX2

I'm surprised at andrew's positivity at the fx2. I will say some positive things: I like the viewfinder (detachable would be better). I like the 2 screw holes at the bottom. and I like the exposed ports. But yeah.. Nikon won't have to do much with the ZR to become top option. Open gate, and Red's colour would be enough.
  9. Where are these from? Nikonrumors didn't post these? I'd like to see 14bit readout too though. This is also a comment from Phil Holland, which isn't too different: "If I was a guessing man, I think the efforts of RED and Nikon could lead to a smaller sized FX3-ish sort of Komodo, probably a model with in body stabilization to appease the crowd. But perhaps sticking to a more useful Komodo-X body type with a focus on trimming some length and weight. Maybe getting it down to 2lbs again. Perhaps with a flip up top LCD that folds down and rotates for protection with a decent latch so you can still use it for things Komodo really does well." Personally I'd really like to see open gate, and ND's.
  10. Except they made a sensor https://petapixel.com/2024/03/11/panasonics-organic-sensor-may-be-complete-but-likely-wont-be-used/
  11. Love a hot take like this. I kinda agree it's not going to get people to switch for the price. but it does offer a lot of features. 50/60p open gate is pretty cool.
  12. Damn, nice. I've been saying cameras should be doing this. considering you can get like an hour on those batteries, it's a no brainer. But it doesn't have xlr built into the camera??
  13. If you use an external monitor with the new red luts it shouldn't be a problem, but yeah hopefully they give us firmware updates with IPP2 soon
  14. I already got the Z8 an love it. I do think the xh2s still has nicer log profile (it's basically the same as arri) and open gate, but the Nikon is a lot more reliable in every other way.
  15. They operate like consumer tech brands, but a lot of sales would be to pros who would like to plan investments.
  16. Aside from possible firmware updates or, we won't see anything from that for at least 2-3 years. Unless it's just releasing a current Red camera with Z mount.
  17. So it's been 3.5 years. What's the latest? About the time it takes for a camera development cycle. Either we're going to see something soon, or this was a genius SEO article.
  18. This could be interesting. When do we think Nikon would release something?
  19. Was going to say this. The bezels on these camera displays are huge. They could go up to 4" just by reducing those.
  20. And yet the z6iii and z8 are better than any L mount options
  21. Wow. The price of these is going to plummet on the grey market
  22. Probably in a technical sense, but you will never be able to see it.
  23. How does evf fix this? Do you have examples of video explaining?
  24. Well now I have the z8 for stills I just need them to put the z8 in a cine body (fx3 or komodox) with internal NDs, open gate, and a better log curve.
