  1. But plenty enough for advanced auto braking systems.
  2. So all this 6K monster talk and we have a refined X-T4 With IBIS (not a bad thing). Still would have been nicer in X-H2.
  3. I’m afraid DfD will never be as good until it can create depth maps faster and with less need to pulse. This is where tracking could come in and help eliminate the need to de-focus to decide which way to focus. But then you are just trying to replicate what dedicated phase detect is measuring in real-time. I honestly think they should just develop a ToF device that works from 0-10m and solves the pulsing AF problem and then switched over to DfD when subjects are farther away. It’s a huge ban-aid but it could, potential, work better than DPAF in that 0-10m range. There would be less to complain about! And perhaps work in most situations where the subject is no farther than 10m away, which is a lot!
  4. Yes I’m afraid we might have the next major disease outbreak. It could very well become a Spanish flu type event. Why? It’s killing heathy 30 year olds that receive intensive medical care along with the old and infirm. It’s like the flu on steroids. It causes the bodies defense systems to attack your own body in an overreaction, causing septic shock, and death. It needs to be treated very carefully and thoughtful less we have a major outbreak.
  5. I think also shot with the EM1X. Very superb.
  6. Looks like the 12-40 f2.8 and the 12-100 F4.

That quote is just an omission that video is becoming more important to users...jeesh

This is kinda what Panasonic has done for awhile now. Especially with the GH5. This maybe brings clarity to the G9 firmware bomb they dropped.
  9. Well, 10-bit external in MFT and OSPDAF...except there goes your excellent weather sealing with an external recorder.

Some interesting insight with this interview. https://m.dpreview.com/interviews/4997384936/panasonic-interview-if-we-stay-united-i-think-we-will-survive No 8K this year for Panasonic...

Would rather see internal ND on a MFT GH camera.
  12. The R5 may very likely end up with 1DXM3 specs and a 3,999 price tag. Think of it as Canon’s flagship mirrorless camera. The 1DX is a whole other market segment. It’s primary a pro sports camera with fast shutters and an optical viewfinder for all people that just don’t care to switch to mirrorless. The R5 is for the wedding photographers/videographers that don’t need speed so much as a reliable autofocusing hybrid. The R6 will be for more casual shooters who want something more than a Rebel but don’t want to shell out 4K + 2K for a body lens combo. I think canon understands not many people hand a DSLR form factor anymore.

A dual-gain, ~33.2ish MP, BSI sensor would solve most of your problems. I don’t think their is a need for a S35 camera from Panasonic. If they can push up to 6400 iso clean and 10,000 ISO useable that is more than enough for most people. Especially since we are getting better and better noise reduction for still shooters. I also think we are more likely to see 8K in an open gate 4:3 only offering. Which is fine by me. That would give you 8K anamorphic and 8K video to do a 4K 16:9 crop in however you like. They could also do something seriously cool with open gate 4:3 8K and advanced EIS for super smooth 4K or 1080p. That’s a lot of room to let the edges warp and keep the center 16:9 area crop steady. They have to do something special because the market is heating up and the FF frenzy is full swing. I actually think we are only going to see vague teasers this year for the GH6 to let people know it’s coming. But I think the release will be next year. Not sure there are any compelling enough 4:3 sensors from Sony.
  14. Shit, my 36 hour static still life video will burn in?
  15. The iPhone is clearly built to correct for our Presidents skin “tone”.

The competition in 2020 is finally caught up to the 2017 GH5.
  17. Canon’s product development announcement is working as intended.
  18. Yeah it’s kinda crazy there are literally billions of devices out there with small OLED screens in small form factors and a camera company, any of them, can’t see the benefit of delivering a screen bigger than 4” or, at the very least, a bright 4” OLED panel. But then again I don’t know many people that have dropped more than $500 on a stand-alone camera...
  19. Well based on the rumored specs they are saying 8 stops with a OIS lens so thats even better than Olympus! I’m skeptical. Because it’s 5 stops with just IBIS (which is Sony levels) and then suddenly jumps to 8 stops with a OIS lens...so I think they are doing something funky. Olympus IBIS gets you 6.5 with just IBIS and then a small bump when paired with a OIS lens...maxing out at 7.5. Canon has to be using some kind of aggressive EIS to get to 8 stops.
  20. I'm happy with the lowlight performance of MFT with regards to the GH5S. Gives us a GH6 with a dual gain sensor thats performs a bit better and it will be good as a A7III or A7SII....and no one complained about their performance. I've shot candle lit scenes in a cabin in Norway with a f2.8 12-35 at ISO 6400 to 8000 on the GH5S. A few shots at 8000 needed some noise reduction that took about 5 mins of my time to process. I've shot video of Elk with a 50-200mm f/2.8-4 at dusk on the GH5S at 200mm f/4 ISO 3200-6400 with a monopod. Video came out great. I had other photographers and video people there too lugging around 400mm FF and crop lenses...they absolutely HATED to re-position. I wonder why? So I no longer fret about lowlight ability with the GH5S. IF the GH6 can take what they did with the GH5S and improve upon it, I am more than happy. Especially if I get glorious IBIS and full V-Log. I have never yet needed to shoot something wider than 18mm and faster than f1.7. When I do I guess I'll buy one of the new Laowa f0.95 ZeroD primes that are coming out this year. I prefer to have my humans subject's eyes and ears in-focus in my talking head shots. If you shoot f1.2 FF like Tony...well god help you.
  21. This is why the IBIS in a Canon (finally) is going to be so attractive and hard to pass up even with a bit of crippling in other specs. Battery life weather resistance is also extremely important to me. Some of the best shots are in adverse conditions.
