A 15MP Sony Mirrorless Camera will be Announced Soon
Video Hummus replied to androidlad's topic in Cameras
LOL, yeah. But apparently Sony wants it all 4s since it took them so long for the A7S. Makes sense...kinda. -
I wonder why they didn’t release a X-H2 with these rumored X-T4 specs first? Ill take build quality over specs (too a point) any day.

The A7SIV is rumored to have a bigger body? So it’s pretty safe to say it will finally offer 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording...maybe? 4.8K is a bit odd unless it’s some kind of RAW output (kinda like the 1DXM3 that offers a 5.5K from its 20.1 MP sensor) Regardless I’m sure it will blow up YouTube and everybody will sell their A73s and R4s they just bought to get it. I hope it has RAW internal. Push other companies into a RAW arms race. Yeah but when Andriodlad posts it’s almost always a confirmed thing. The dude doesn’t post bullshit. -
Sony A7R IV - can confirm colour is still SH**!
Video Hummus replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
Yep. I have a feeling the color change on the helmet was so it didn't clash with their logo color (or the color they chose to use for the logo). Very similar with the original helmet. They also cleaned up his jersey and removed the green cast from the field. -
I tell myself this is what I'm doing when I go shooting as well. All that video needs to marinate on my hard drives, right? ?

Apparently Laowa is developing a new f/0.95 MFT lens. Rumored to be in the 20-35mm zoom range (40-70). Would be awesome if they got closer to andrews 28-50. Doesn't need to be pin sharp if it’s going to be manual and a video lens. Venus Optics and 7artisans are doing interesting stuff.

Wow, Still at 24 MP for sports cameras. The camera industry is like molasses. -

Apparently Sports Illustrated didn’t care either. That would be a 30 second Hue mask correction. So I think we have our answer. Also, 24.2 MP image then cropped good enough for cover of magazine. A EM1X with a 20MP and a 600mm equiv. lens would probably yield better results, except for maybe DoF. Looks light more than enough light on that field. -
...when you get big and make millions it doesn't matter what you do.

McKinnons video was not a very good demonstration of the 1D-X Mk3

Yes, I know what you mean with the cast.

I think MFT is pretty much maxed out as well with how current IBIS mechanisms work with gyro and accelerometers. The next best thing MFT could do is have a protocol for taking that IBIS sensor data and feeding it to a in camera EIS algorithm or attach it to a clip with metadata and then develop plugins for NLEs to use it. Honetly the latest Olympus camera with EIS and a Sync-IS lens (like the excellent 24-100 f/4) and a two handle cage rig get pretty close to this with a post warp stabilizer. Especially if you cheese out and put in fake cinescope or 2:1 aspect ratio black bars.

That lens would probably make the 10-25 look petite. Not sure how I feel about that as a 10-25 owner. I’m sometimes wishing my 25mm could stretch to 35mm. I’m of the opinion that FF f/2 DOF is the lower limit for me. It’s just enough, not too much. The f1.7 with f/3.1 FF equiv. DOF is a sweet spot (on GH5S sensor; 3.4 on MFT) falls nicely in between FF f/2 and f/4. Easy to manual focus, DoF isn’t distracting, ability to get nice out-of-focus areas at the longer focal length and shorter distances when you want to. Maybe the 14-50 f/1.8 should have been the lens they should have made instead of the 10-25? It’s like the perfect do-it-all lens.

A 41MP Olympus Mirrorless Camera will be Announced Soon

Sounds like Simon is full of shit to me. ”This sensor is currently not used in cameras, as all other components to process double MP (20 vs. 40 MP) are not technically (thermally) and economically feasible to integrate.” This is word soup. Almost all MFT sensors as of late have been tweaked variations of industrial sensors, no? Improved coatings on sensors? What are those? Never heard anyone talks about coatings on sensors. -
@Sage Any downsides to acquiring in HLG and then converting to Vlog-L and then Rec709 using GHAlex? Maybe I’m crazy, but I find the AF is better when there is a bit more contrast in a profile.

Tony’s video reminds me of a nightmare I had recently. -
What cameras are you currently shooting with?

Sony is very popular with YouTube crowd. My guess is most don’t even care about skin tones that much to begin with. I had the A7III when it first came out and people were back ordered on it. Bought Andrews EOSHD color and took it to Iceland. Sold it when I got back. Everybody was raving about the autofocus but I had situations where it was just pulsing crap fest. The oversampled 6K image looked nice though. Bought a GH5S instead because I couldn’t wait for a GH5 Replacement with GH5S lowlight performance. Really miss my IBIS. -

If Olympus had 10-bit and a decent codec it would fit better into the MFT gear I already have. -
Would they though if the GH5S offered internal ProRes and a CFExpress card from the outset? I would have definitely (still) bought GH5S if it had that. I think that is where they messed up. People are willing to pay extra for it. They aren’t willing to pay extra for less, unless something is really important to them. They should have added things like false colors and a better vector scope. Punch in while recording...but they couldn’t because they were limited with the GH5 processing engine. Why didn’t they include 4K60p 10-bit? GH5S was a death by a thousand cuts. Market wise. It’s a great camera at its current price. Hopefully they fix these problems in the GH6. Andrew is right. They should just pay the license fee and offer the internal ProRes or some compressed RAW. It’s time. Does ProRes HQ offer superior quality over Panasonic’s 400Mbit ALL-I? Probably not much. Definitely not for the storage increase, but it sure does speed up workflow, which is the most cost effective thing you can improve. That extra $250 license fee Panasonic made you pay will be paid off real quick. I speculate definitely an announcement in 2020 and release early 2021. We still have industry shows coming up soon. Panasonic should be in forums like these to figure out what they should put in the GH6. Yes, BM has an advantage. Mostly due to color science and how they process the image compared to the S. The GH5S still leans too much into consumer camera.

I agree. Perhaps REDs licensing terms are extreme and don’t make business sense for anybody. Otherwise would would have seen internal RAW by now, even if it was like $200 per unit sold or 20% per unit sold. What did Canon get out of The RED RF deal? Clearly no compressed RAW in the 1DXM3. Perhaps they just don’t get sued.

Eh well, my GH5S vote went into the GH5 pile as that was not an option. Surprised not more Sony. Big winner here is MFT.
