Once you have access to the RAW data, you should be able to make any magic sauce you want with that. If you can't, its your fault. In still photography world it was a known fact, untill fuji marketing team pretended its a revolution if its done in camera.

Not really. You capture the data with a sensor and all the sensor limitations apply.

Excellent write-up! Been experimenting with Runway a lot lately since production company has the unlimited license. But past the initial impressiveness, these prompt based AI generation tools do show quite quickly their limits imo. Never been a fan of stock footage and to me this is really still just customisable stock footage. Great potential if indeed they added log, sensor size, lens choice etc.. Generating from stills can help get you that precise look but its still way too quirky and uncanny valley for pro use. Prompt base also leads to too much free interpretation with odd quirks. At least with Sora and the remix function you can potentially get more accurate results via subsequent prompts a bit like how Chat GPT works. Love the storyboard feature with 4 variations. Very eager to try it.. but I can already see the limits of its actual use. No 4K being a big one as you point out. For story boards and pre-production its fantastic though.

Exactly this. It feels like a random footage generator rather than a tool. I've seen some impressive stuff in runway promos but they generate 1000s of videos in order to pick one.

I see no value in buying arri log on a MFT gh7

Oh man, don't you love youtubers and their thumbnail game? "This 3/4 adaptor changes everything!!!!!!"

That makes total sense.  One would expect a professional colorist to groan a bit if handed 8-bit log footage vs 10-bit log (or 12-bit raw).  I'd imagine that most want the most flexible image to work with when possible - there's a reason that Hollywood tends to shoot most stuff on Arri and it's not ease of use or portability.

Hollywood shoots ProRes for the most part, except for VFX plates.

The last part is very very important to understand. All these cheap services about the wonderful AI, run on very big server farm. For now all these startups cost/profit we don't know. If OpenAi cost was 100, 200, 1000 USD per month, would it had been so successful. And thus is the question. Having one people asking for one video, it could be 10x ILM servers rendering that. So my guess this and all the AI thing as we see, are running on venture capital money and how much to ran them including video we don't know.

Exactly. Most of these companies are working on the model "we will figure out how to make profits later" which may not be sustainable in the long run.
