  1. I haven't but this lens is interesting. https://youtu.be/qvF8AkR8BDs
  2. I get all that but I think I'd just get a used GH5 at that point, if only for the better sensor. Or the Pocke4K. Don't really see the advantage of this over those two, outside of it being a couple hundred dollars cheaper. But by the time you add an external monitor, mic, etc. you're in the same ballpark as the others really.
  3. Eh, hard pass then. They really need work on their marketing. Keeping track of all the variants is confusing. I also don't think we needed a stripped down cinema camera with a five year old sensor, maybe that's just me though? It doesn't seem that much more advanced than the E1 that they ran a fire sale on a year ago.
  4. Ah, I didn't see anything about raw shooting, just pro res, but that would make sense since, as it is, there's not much of a market for it given the Pocket 4K. Z CAM really needs to get better with relaying that info. Promised features they discuss on the Facebook page (where I guess that info comes from) should be on their other platforms. I think I'd still probably go with the Pocket 4K for the couple hundred more.
  5. I've launched multiple VOD websites with AWS as the back bone and it's not the ideal solution honestly but probably the most cost effective. It might've gotten better since I last did it a few years ago! It also might be easier if you're using it as a simple file host.
  6. Just saw Z CAM E2C is now on sale and I'm kinda confused: who is that camera for? Am I missing something from the specs?
  7. The G7 is one of the best low budget cameras available right now. You can get some real deals on the used market. If you absolutely can't afford to spend a little more on the G85 it's a great option.
  8. I've noticed, on the used market, a lot of these have dust behind the lens. Is that an issue with that camera in general?
  9. As someone that had to work with it, Flash sucked. I'm glad it's gone. Streaming video has improved greatly because of it. I don't know anyone that misses it.
  10. Sensor size really isn't important for most event / sport shooting. If I could afford a second set of cameras to use for sports I'd go the same route. I love my GH5 and G85, and they get the job done, but they're not the ideal solution for sports shooting. But they handle everything I throw at them, from weddings to corporate to sports. From a feature standpoint, yeah. It was an incremental update for a 4 year old camera, which is kinda ridiculous. I was ready to give them my money and then... "nope." Give me a pocket camera that I can carry at all times, or put in places that are too small for a regular camera, that has comparable IQ and colors to my regular cameras, isn't ridiculously expensive and TAKE MY MONEY!
  11. This wedding season I've seen quite a few Nikons, enough for me to feel like they're doing okay. Their users are very loyal, more so than Canon I think. I've seen more Nikon Z's than EOS R's too, though Canon overall still dominates. It's an informal poll based on my experiences, but the doom and gloom seems to be a bit over exaggerated. I've seen very few Sony's and no Panasonic full frame offerings.
  12. You really don't understand why people complain about Premiere? ------ I've ditched Adobe completely. The only thing that is causing me issues is the lack of After Effects competitor. Fusion just isn't clicking with me, it goes against how my brain works. I've tried and tried, to no avail. I really, really hope something comes along soon.
  13. The frustrating thing about these releases is my YouTube main page being inundated with these shills all posting at the same time their "reviews." Even the more thoughtful, non-shill reviewers rush to get their video out instead of putting together a more thoughtful, comprehensive video because everyone has gotta get those hits! It's why I like someone like Three Blind Men and an Elephant. Even when I don't agree with him, his videos are very thoughtful and thorough. They also aren't rushed. He was at the reveal event, and gave some of his first thoughts in videos he posted, but he just released his more thorough video today, and whether I agree with him or not I'm sure it'll be more insightful than most of the videos that came out immediately.
  14. Most people don't want 4K60 to output to 4K60, they want it for slow motion.
  15. You can leave / stop reading. It's his site / forum.
  16. 4K60 should be easier to do on a 1" sensor, no? I imagine it'd overheat though, given I think the last RX100 could only record in 4K for a couple minutes before overheating.
  17. 80"+ TVs won't be commonplace anytime soon. How many people really have the room in their homes for one, whether it's mounted on the wall or on a stand? Most of us can't really see the full benefit of 4K on our TVs and monitors unless we're literally right in front of them. Most people that think they NEED 8k really don't.
  18. It's funny because I'm in the camp of disliking Sony's colors, but I feel like this lens compliments them pretty well. And it not being so sharp gives it character.
  19. Mathieu Stern is one of my favorite YouTubers because he collects weird/old lenses and adapts them to use on mirrorless cameras. My Papa used to have this same camera so this was so cool to see! I actually think it produces a really elegant or ethereal image. Good stuff! Anyway many of you are probably aware of Mathieu but for those that aren't I figured I'd share!
  20. I imagine they'll come up with a higher level camera over a small mirrorless hybrid to film the Olympics.
  21. Skip needing to defend the Z6 even when no one is really attacking it sure is something.
  22. It's all about preference really. I appreciate auto focus but a lot of the time I prefer manual focus. Depends on the situation. I think for a long time it was a pride thing, to be able to say I prefer manual focus. As time has passed though I realize that I genuinely prefer how it looks and the control it gives me. I get the appeal of accurate, whippy auto focus and for sports and documentary work where you get one chance to nail focus it's great. But when I see it used in controlled conditions and control environments, I just don't like the look of it.
