  1. I would spend 100% of my budget on an Alexa, just to lick it. I have actually seen and done exactly that in post and I dont even have anything close to what Hollywood has for post production. Software is pretty crazy now, if you know what to do. I have seen tons of proprietary programs that would blow your mind. I think many people here would be scared for their job if they knew what is around the corner. Which brings everything back to the main point many of you were making, it really is about the story. If you cant tell a good story or evoke emotions through your work, keep it a hobby or prepare to find a different job down the road.
  2. Eventually people (actors) will license their likeability/3d model out and not actually bother to act in a movie. Look at what they did with Paul Walker after he was dead.
  3. I think it really is all relative to screen size and distance to it. I would want 8K on a 150" screen sitting 10-15' away lol. I have a short throw projector that is 140" in my bedroom, I wish it was 4K. Side thought; those laser short throw projectors are getting much cheaper. The ones without a color wheel. Still a good $5000 though, better than $80,000 from a few years ago though.
  4. I can see a big difference between it playing in 1080 vs playing in 1440p
  5. I didn't think I would notice too much between an iphone 10x max and the S10+ watching a YT video. I can actually tell a big difference personally between 1080p and 1440p on a phone. It looks like 4k on my big tv to me. It would be nice if YT and apple can play nice in the future, tons of people use iphones.
  6. I have always used Tiffen and haven't noticed a problem
  7. @kye What i'm getting at, is the fact that everyone views content on a low res phone. Unless you have your stuff on netflix etc.
  8. I have the dark knight on blu-ray (1080p) and it looked better then when I watched it streamed in "4K"
  9. It's always a little frustrating to me, when I make an awesome 4K video, only to realize that pretty much everyone is just going to view it on a 1080p phone. I mean, it looks good on my 6.4" 1440p OLED phone, but most people don't have that or will switch it to 1440p. Even fewer will watch it on a 4K tv. Heck, even these big hollywood movies with millions poured into them are usually only viewed at 2k resolution or 1080p in the home later through streaming. That 1080p is also a low bit rate via netflix etc. Blu-ray 1080p actually looks pretty decent. I still film in a high resolution and edit in a 4k timeline. One day my hard work with a higher resolution will be appreciated ?
  10. Thought this was cool. Not my video.
  11. Lucky, you got that Arri look for free
  12. Not trolling, but the HDR10+ 10-bit video with three lenses (two optically stabilized) on my S10+ looks so much better than the pocket when I tested them both. I'm sure more basic phones will catch up soon. It just doesn't make sense to carry the osmo pocket when your phone can do much better? Where is @webrunner5 to argue for the pocket? Lol Only somewhat valid point I have seen, is the built in gimbal, but the device is so small, it's hard to get that smooth of footage moving anyway. I cant believe how stabilized phone footage is now, even walking slowly.
  13. They still havent updated their shit app to support the S10, a major flagship phone. It's going to be a year soon, I couldn't even fly the drone without it restarting my phone mid-flight.. now they increased their price $230 ?. They expect a raise after getting extremely lazy, so many threads of people complaining since March (they saw and replied they are working on it..). It used to only be a very short period of time until they supported new devices. Then when you fix the barrel distortion, it actually decreases image quality quite a bit in testing. They really need some competition.
  14. Very close to what you said? We have direct quotes, but ok ?
  15. I just ordered a pocket 6k and a sigma 18-35 1.8 for it. I couldn't help it.
  16. I wonder if the m.2 drives utilizing USB C (housing) have the same problems?
  17. Saw andrew and dave talking about it shutting off or stopping its recording randomly. They aren't the first; I don't have the camera, but I have done some research. I heard that if you use actual Canon batteries, it doesn't randomly shut off. I also heard that if you are recording in 6k etc. and go over 50% of your SSD, it will start dropping frames and stop recording. One YT'er recommended buying a 1TB drive and only recording 500GB or less on it as a workaround. Maybe someone can confirm this. I haven't looked to see if any firmware has come out that remedies these drawbacks. That would sure be embarrassing to be on a paid job, have it randomly shut off or stop recording, then have to interrupt the scene/interview and inform everyone that your little thingy went limp.
  18. @barefoot_dp Your variable costs are greatly reduced the more volume you do, and the longer you are in production of said product. If the price elasticity (what the market will bear) of your product is set within a certain threshold, say $400-500, incentives to reduce current margins is zero. If you have been producing this product for x amount of years, your variable costs will move closer and closer towards your fixed costs. Thus increasing your profit margins. Why would you introduce a new product with the same MSRP and higher initial production costs, if your old product is still selling fine? It is less marketing and more economics/managerial accounting. Nvidia and Intel do this all the time. They withhold their next generation chips until AMD catches up to them.
  19. I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of moore's law, but things can change rapidly in a heartbeat. We honestly do not even know what companies are withholding, they do it all the time. Not to mention the implementation of AI systems is yielding exponential growth. I work with high level AI everyday and it is incredible what it evolves into year by year. That is just in our company alone. Quantum computing in places like Google are going to shatter what you currently perceive as a limitation.
  20. Are you a professional? Can we see your work? You were pretty f!@#ing rude to the OP. Maybe there is a language disconnect here, but I have been on the forums for a few years and haven't seen anyone talk to a new member like you. I think we can both agree that there are areas he can improve, but we don't need to say things like "To be honest, it's not even average" or "Catching a camera that is capable of decent to great image doesn't mean you are capable too". Then underhandedly say some obviously false encouragement after. This is a largely amature forum, with some professionals. I personally don't see the point in projecting such negative sentiment towards someone just exploring this field, likely for fun. OP, don't let this discourage you from filming more. It wasn't as bad as he made it out to be, just keep going and you will improve. It's already better than 90% of the copycat travel videos I see on youtube.
  21. Hahaha I was just trying to create a little entertainment. I truly believe that all politicians on both sides are scumbags. Who knows what trump is, he was a democrat forever. Now all of a sudden a republican? I just see more liberal ran media more than anything and I hate their spin on the news. You literally look at a police report/local newspaper, see the facts of what happens, then you see a big news article omitting major details of what actually happened, as to fit their agenda. That is what I don't like, on either side. The general public is so easily swayed, they don't think for themselves. I personally dislike being lied to.
  22. Just your typical liberals. The same ones who normalized intense violence and sex, now cry about it for political reasons. It's like when I was a kid and they were trying to ban lots of video games, saying that association is always causation. When in reality, there will always be outliers in statistics. So punish the 99.9999999999% that do not act out violently from watching a movie or playing a video game? If they want to stop innocent people from dying, why not start with hospital malpractice, that kills 31x more people per year than gun homicide. Like Mexican Joker?
  23. That's what I thought when I wanted to do 4K gaming in 2012, it's now just becoming feasible (at least 60 fps) with a flagship single GPU.
  24. Just because it's sony colors, doesn't mean you have to be so rude.
