Yes, you announce to us such important thing that you going to Sunday holiday, after putting ingenious poll, leaving thread to whom...look in your own words.

How many time you will be "Out", Mattias. Ok, I'm very sensible to any sign of threatening. So lets your PM to me that I didn't ask for public:

    Mattias Burling / BACK STORY

"Hey, I have no intention of getting into some lame argument with why I don't take crap from fanboys.
But regarding your quote of what I said to Jonpais. Just thought I let you know the backstory.

He went on a rant on some guy for filming some test shots of an asian lady.
That discussion led him to ask me a question to which I replied that I found it funny since test shots of asian ladies is something he also does a lot.

He then censured the conversation, deleted posts and started sending me PMs.
I then asked him to stop sending me PMs. I didn't even care about the censorship.
He then banned me from the forum and thats why he got canned as soon as Andrew saw it. I didn't even have to tell him.

I have chosen to take the high road and not mention anything about it to him or anybody else. But when he kept pushing and tried to start a flame war I said what I did. Now I still intend to let the matter rest. But if you also keep pushing on this subject I will eventually have to let it out.

Just a heads up since he seems to be your buddy. The other stuff is ok. I stand behind my words to Kisha since he is a fanboy who has no respect for others opinions. He thinks this is a tech forum for crying out loud."

    Than Anonim / ANSWER

    "

Hi Mattias, first of all I'd like to say thanks for some of instructive presentations of yours - of course, about cameras and lenses - at your youtube channel.

No, I'm not at any sort of Jon Pais buddy - it sounds so funny, because I'm far far away from Vietnam and, I'd say, even more far away from complete Jon's life background as it looks to me from forum.

"But if you also keep pushing on this subject I will eventually have to let it out."

I hope that it is not some sort of threat or prescribing - language misunderstanding wise, 'cause English is not mine and your native one? Because, if it really has some trace of threat-intention, please not use it - it is enough that you imagine yourself to hear something like that and choose a way how to react... As you, of course, know very well, sharpness and reactiveness are not unique property of nobody...

I don't know Kisaha, am I wrong that at forum topics he is one of the extremely fond - and, as most of others, sometimes very enthusiastic  -  to NX1?

(All in all, about this concrete topic and your PM - I think that there's not any necessity to be too spicy, especially to you, because you are obviously smart man... I don't know what to say more.

Maybe, BTW, because you are publicly known for me, and contrary is not the case - to litlte bit present myself. I'm actually and mostly an novel-writer with some sort of reputation which is totally unimportant - Collected works etc. - but I also sometimes make documentaries and shorts - enjoying world of colors and images... And, regarding some of your concrete coments - I have done several scientific disertations, also two from Psychology which is one of mine formal-educational background But everything of that sort is, in fact, mostly boring as deeply melted in this consumers world that I can't whithstand...)

So, please - any grain of judging tone toward myself via PM is completely needless and useless.

Sincerely admiring you nice try-and-leave suggestions about photo/video stuff - I wish you also good weekned, and I hope - very soon, presentation of new Fuji acchievement."

SO - "But if you also keep pushing on this subject I will eventually have to let it out." - I feel as attempt of subtle threating.

I really don't ask anybody to disturb me with such disgusting message. If somebody have some problems with someone else, why I have to know it and believe secret messager?

This is not a conversation a parent living in 2018 in the U.S. should be having with their child

Obviously not, or it shouldn't be, but it is so call reality.

Personally, I'm very interested, because for me it highly, as psychological pattern of human nature (especially in technically superior and most influential side of world), explain some more serious troubles or suffering around the world - also indifference toward these troubles. So, maybe it's not bad idea as add-alternative educational course to your son, to join to thread like this: he can learn very much - because:

    @Django

When answer to all, by @jonpais sumarized, totally relevant comparable weakness for me as potential buyer is - all of that are "peanuts", what does it mean?

When Andrew Reid, as some other tests (XH1 vs Sony 7RIII), indicate that flog is comparatively very prone to banding, and answer is, approximately "Could you look better, you have to be wrong" - what does it mean?

When someone (one of devoted user of Fuji) immediately after my involving in this thread wrote me PM claiming that I'm Jon Pais's "buddy" (although I live 5000km far away from him, with life background that couldn't be more different and bombing experience with American brutal colonial policy) and as benefit disclose me how Jon is in fact immoral - what has to be my answer?

When someone in PM warns me to shut up, otherwise that someone also will react otherwise - how I have to feel at your opinion?

My sadly answer, being also sadly suggestion to @Matthew Hartman's son is: not retreat, not give ground when somebody shout out trying to scare you - because, if you not thwart him, tomorrow the same person will beat you, or scaring some other men, than finally shoot at you.

I have simply motive here: I want to sell my GH5 because I can return my money after several jobs (I always buy secondhand or in the gray market) and I'm interesting in better newer solutions, and I waited that Fuji system include IBIS in offering. GH5s deeply disappointed me asking real 800$ more (market buying price) rushing to keep attention, not knowing how to resolve IBIS problem with new sensor, offering better ISO3200 usability and mostly software solution to mostly gimickly higher ISO values. Fuji X-H1 has all comparative weaknesses that Jon summarized, year after GH5 and also with 500-600$ higher buyers price (with grip). Actually, I'm very unsatisfied that for me it seems the best to keep GH5 and lose money some months later.

If you extensively explain your point of view and with arguments questioned some weakness for the benefit all of us, and if someone's answer to that is quasi-threatening PM, or "rubish", or "peanuts" or "fan boy" or "are you disfunctionally blind, look that image OOC" - don't expect that I will withdraw. Matter of principle, training to stay fit in more severe , but formally similar, circumstances that scare lovely Matthew's son. (Unfortunately, in my life I had to learned this lesson overmuch.) Finally, here I can read and maybe little bit exercise and make better my broken English :) So, frankly, thank you guys of native English for tolerant patience to my ackwardness...

  4. @Django

I think that you don't understand @jonpais in quoted sentence - it was ironic comment on some of the previous posts in which was claimed - by obvious admirer - that X-H1 is not aimed to the professional video shooters. In fact, Jon explicitly quoted man from Fuji correcting such claim. Actually for the sake of the truth, Jon several times informed us of purchasing Fuji mount for his Veydra, preparing possible acquisition of X-H1.

Also, participating actively in this thread, I really can not see many or even any primitive and childish intention as "eager to put down this not even released product in an effort to justify their own gear purchases." But I've read many very immediately offensive and openly  shut-up comments from owner of Fuji camera, or from somebody who has intention to buy, or already bought, this camera - as so that these persons have some special privilege in commenting it, as if someone prescribe that in this thread camera has to be praised and favorised.

I simply don't like to be forced to be silence, don't feel good in presence  of anybody's pretension of higher knowledge, authority and right to more respectability, and equally don't like to see someone else being insulted or forced to be silence. Being this one pundit or some unchained movie hero.

Personally, I'm interested to maybe change system for better - but I have to think with my own head, to ask and search and compare. Nothing wrong with it - we are not neither Fuji's nor Panasonic's nor Canon's nor Sony's sheep. At least I think so.

it says „Filmed on FUJIFILM X-H1“

It feels, like most of those Fuji X Photographers got 2 copies of the camera. One to shoot and one to film it. Sith limited time and most of them being photographers and not film makers I am honestly impressed, that there are even some good looking videos coming out. Fuji should really think about limiting the quantity and go for more quality of promo videos,

Maybe that also that I've not payed attention if differences are made but usage of different frame rate... Or different lenses in woman's and shooters copy of camera... Anyway, some shots here, I'd say, are so seductive as series of so superior, immediately-catching attractive photos.

  6. I don't know. Maybe if model is advertised as photo tool it is not the obligation. Actually, my question/suspicion has sense only if there are really some not-so-unnoticable differences between shots - or it is just my hallucination... (Clothes show more and less details, plants/stones or skin tones sometimes are finely texturised sometimes severely smoothed, the same with level of color gradation, etc.)

For example - look at the skin tone at girl's nake hand and sky details between shot at 1.44 and 1:53 - much more, actually skin texture is seen at 1:53, not in 1:44, where even sky is clipped. Also global look at 1:44 is (obviously?) rough compare to that subtle at 1:53... just one example, there are more similar, I think.

Some materials here I like the most, but - strangely, am I wrong or indeed there is discrepancy between shots regarding dynamic range - some of them (like interior interview) are gorgeous, some so-so for my eyes. Is it (ethic) rule that promoting clips that include shots with actual camera as physical object has to be recorded with that camera (especially if titled is associate with photography)?

Robin be careful with such a statement here ... it could be that many GH5 fanboys attack you now :-)

    @anonim
    your post is: e) pathetic

Maybe, but it was clearly option a) ....in my offer... So something inside or outside obviously prevent you to accomplish proper reading of 4 lines... I suspect, it was pressure of excitement, some extraordinary thrilling mood - I think, rush to show us how high you can be in production of original witty answers.

Because, besides of look and value in your own eyes, pretend-warning and original appeal to Robin - "It could be that many GH5 fanboys attack you now" - is what

    a) humorous for your and someone other's taste

    b) humiliating for GH5 fanboys

    c) example of non-fanboys attitude

    c) little bit or simply stupid

  9. Sorry to say and I apologize, but after reading last contributions to thread, my first idea for next poll question is

Do you think that formulation (regarding all participation so far) as "I think I will enjoy my Sunday now. And I think I will skip this thread until some people who actually have the camera can try to get it back on course." is more

    a) pathetic

    b) theatral

    c) arrogant

    d) just pure opinion that doesn't mean anything else...

Again, the X-H1 is a camera aimed at professional photographers.

Now I'm in confusion... aren't @jonpais explicitely quote man form Fuji "This camera targeting professionals for the movie as well as the photo side"?

So, who aimed/targeted this camera if it is not men who constructed and sell them?

Provided article revealed that Raw data output via 6G-SDI will be:

    5.7K Raw up to 30p (S35)

4K Raw up to 60p (Four Thirds Crop)

2K Raw up to 240fps (Four Thirds Crop)

What's me in theory interest is: regarding 4/3 Crop, would be in theory possible to use m43 lenses and get raw files if EVA1 (or some of its variant) provide changeability also to m43 mount as solution?

I was very clear with it being just my personal opinion.

Of course. Personal opinion with quite proper weight of argument, and that's nice - because your in-experience-founded opinion, at least for me, indeed has to be count as respectable.

Just, I was so often here been told that best OOC image from Fuji is universal truth and undisputable... so I finally obeyed and followed this inclination in my suggestion :)

Ps. Its not supposed to have "argumenting power"...

Well, it seems to me that slight suggestion hidden or not in formulation - "And the winning spec is something Fuji does very well imo" - tiny little bit told different :)

Being or not so - that's formulation that (mis)leads me to use mine of "argumenting power" - alas, with my broken English...

  14. 2 hours ago, Mattias Burling said:

Im gonna show this here as well (will be dropping it in a Canon thread also).
I did a poll where I listed 5 specs and asked people what was the most important to them.
    864 votes so far.

And the winning spec is something Fuji does very well imo. So there definitely is a lot of appeal to the crowd out there in the non forum world.

    poll_yt.thumb.png.8bf3ed5f595a8ed110bcda53b85fd2be.png

Maybe: If you put - totally founded - choice of pretty neutral formulation "Good looking image OOC (without needs for further intervention)" as first proposal in consumers forum, it will have more specific usage and argumenting power on Fuji thread? After all, isn't it the most prominent and distinctive side of Fuji quality and attractiveness?

  15. @jonpais

I had no 10.5 in hands - but I supposed wide open in gimbal is very very hard to focus on one subject? Although there are many shots on youtube from a man teacher-etc. wiht just walking or running with it. I was twice outbided in GB (in London is the most attentive friend in West willing to help me) ebay market - but it is not at all hard to outbid me :)  Argument - at the first place curiosity; second, to match my other Voigts; third un-usability of GH5 over 1600 for longer shots - although, as I tested, NR in Resolve or Neat Video match GH5 with GH5s regarding noise at iso3200.

But, I'm very cautious with my acquisitions - always also have to think about reselling step. It is pretty hard to resell 10.5 here.

Regarding other UW options, I'm not impressed also - but, luckily, UW shots are highly rare in my needs. Laowa 7.5, of course, look nice - but rendering looks un peau sterile comparing with Voigts, although for rare shots it doesn't matter. Panny/Oly lenses... from some reason I never kept any except Oly 75mm (I had no chance to try new Oly pro prime trio). Simply put - too artificially contrasted and mostly unnatural oversharpened (and luck of tactile impression).  Using with bluring filter - maybe or yes, but I don't feel good beeing forced to further by myself adapt high price lenses. I'm guilty - my highest first criteria is pure enjoy in process of shooting: if I don't so like feeling lens in my hands, I never - it turned out always as spontaneous result - kept it (even SLR Magics).

Manual focus lenses on gimbal - my solutiion: thinking more about shot and repeating that I'm not high-energy promo shooter...

In China, precisely Guandong, there are sellers from whom you may buy new Voigt's for under 800euros. At the moment, friend of mine who lived there for 12 years is out of reach. If you have someone in Guandong or Hong Kong, that's internet adress

    https://world.taobao.com/item/549640844485.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.IvPPNx#detail

    Edit

For whom that may be interested - at the moment Adorama has great discount of SLR Magic 10mm bundle with excellent SLRM filter

    https://www.adorama.com/slr1021mfnd2.html?utm_source=rflaid913528

  16. For me it seems obvious that was extremely hard task to make UW lens with enormous light transmission capability of 0.95 lens matching rest of the line - even for such a great constructors. Not that there are mistakes - rather chosen compromises. Maybe, in spite of all these compromises, Godsend for those who have to often shoot with T1.1 avoiding high ISO. Even at lenstip test there's one (single) praised point: sharpness in the center even at 0.95 - for some usage and for someone it may be the most important. What is attractive is (for many) special and unbeatable - for cinematic result in Panny sharp sensor - Voigt's rendering. But I had not it in my hand.

Please don't be bored with one more example, in lowlight, for consideration and exchanging thoughts

  17. A-Tim Sewell: I've seen lots of digital files that look like analogue, but I've got lots of analogue images that could be nothing else.

B-Arikhan: Saying it's unique, is saying you are not able to get the same look when working with digital RAW out of a modern camera. And no, you don't need hours to get the same look.

I think A. nicely talks about dignity and beauty of process. B. precisely and exactly about results. A. maybe suggest that involving devoted emotions and love for the process could make secret ingredient? B. maybe suggest that efficacy of used instruments - because photography without doubt is greatly technical-depending - can resolve deeper qualities/ingredients of media?

Maybe there's no need for look of confrontation. One of the case where both side could easily be understand and united?

Thanks to both, Tim and Arikhan for nice and proper explanations - and Mattias for example of interesting thread.
