  1. It sounds to me that it is possible, but it costs It is on the line with Panasonic CEO (?) appr: "Ask for firmware and we will take it into consideration." ... Of course, "ask" is euphemism for "if market force us to do it".
  2. It seems to me logical that it depends of selling rate/tempo of GH5s, and of estimation about proper moment for launching GH6. What I like the most, it is that inclusion of optional recording to some sort of RAW now looks inevitable - just 3-4 months ago it didn't look so on discussion here and elsewhere at forums. What I dislike the most is that there's no any chance that GH5 get any firmware of this kind after 1.5-2 years of its existence - because that would greatly minimize reason for upgrading to GH6
  3. Just to little bit more take advantage of opportunity for more serious argumentation than what is in whose book by experiences collected during haven't been around the block a few times ... Regarding posted abnormal usage of camera in "Die Somnum" I'd like just to add - as maybe learning case for someone similar to me - nice author's comments about challenges and flaws with which he met during this nice cinematic filmmaking - for people who maybe missed it earlier... As addition, there is also author's own opinion (in the public comments) about great usability of IBIS for handheld shots in this concrete undertaking - which, of course, differs from elitistic comments about giving s... or c.... for its usability for cinematic task or session.
  4. I think that there's no reason for confusion. "Problem" is that you already have the most complete, or best balanced prosumer camera in the market - which lose resale value just because of usual market's thirst for novelty. Also, you already have one of the two most respectable and sought after set of vintage lenses recommended by professionals for indie cine-shooting. Degrading to the any product of current offer will not make you happy - even if you spare some money. So maybe just one logic solution rest - except to keep that one, with what God blessed you to already have - is: sell GH5 immediately and forget about shooting till the time when new BMPCC becomes reachable as really interesting/different and comparable priced toy. If selling camera and lenses is the only way to resolve money problems - don't hesitate. There are more important things in the life, and you already get something the most important that you can not drop off: knowledge... And I hope that turn of the fate will soon bring fresh money again to your hands... right at the time of birth of GH6 or something similar...
  5. I think that you just haven't been around the block a few times in right direction
  6. Wow light also is in the game? Normal and abnormal, talented and talentless, seeing the light or staying into darkness - all of that to catch your level of estimation about GH5
  7. So, as it turned out in case of GH5 - not talented people are responsible for normal output, talented - for abnormal
  8. So there are normal and abnormal outputs... And first we all have to pass (your) estimation of talent. In fact, "Dies Somnum" is not normal nor abnormal, it is not miracle, it is simply nice footage from GH5 in controlled conditions - for which GH5 is actually quite appropriate and intended to be one of the tools of respectable choice. And it passed accurate color grading - with treatment that quite easy match GH5 and GH5s.
  9. Instead of debating with subjective consideration, I posted at previous page one example, "Dies Somnum"... for me it is quite enough "cinematic". I'll be really glad to hear concrete critics about its quality instead of big suggestive words, such as... giving of crap.
  10. What to say... when I feel shame just to click on Like button Above all, I'm so glad because of radiating spirit of great devotion and love between all involving crew. It must be that there's no any significant budget, but pure enthusiasm - otherwise you'd not shoot on GH5 Cheers to all of members - and thank you for the beautiful example how sometimes dreams are becoming reality! (I think that William Ernest Henley and all other unconquered spirits are proud of you
  11. Maybe I'm in risk to look stupid, but I found this recap quite ok - it just look strange first raw, but from the explanation it turned also acceptable with some more clarification arguments: GH5 because of 20mb sensor, GH5s because of lowlight, maybe equal with BMPCC... I think that his point is similar to mine: accent to a working process as whole... all possible situations and tasks. But it seems to me that all of comparisons specs vise (aside of fact that BMPCC and little one still are not at disposal) make pretty logical and clear conclusion: if someone need IBIS (as me), or is hard fan of anamorphic shooting, there's no other choice than GH5; for more extreme low light, for more refined image or for pure enjoy in postproduction work - BMPCC, or GH5s if dropped the price - as only one, or as suplement to GH5 for those who need IBIS. I just can't agree with excluding of GH5 by judging practical results of achievable image quality - and I'm glad that wolf... think the same. After all, they all are extremely capable defenders of great values of m43 system.
  12. You see - you already got it with massive discount... as I understand it I already posted amazon link - but you thought it as a seller on suspect. I also posted link with totally guarantee legal price in eglobal in UK for about 1200 pounds.
  13. Thanks... Just I can't understand how might be possible to compare actual price of these cameras? Aside of that what is really easy reachable market price (because GH5 already has massive discount, even GH5s) - but, how we could know what will be the market price of GH5s when BMPCC starts its selling life? What I know is that I slowly started to collect money for acquisition of GH5s as another camera besides GH5, but announce of BMPCC stoped me in this idea. (That's I called clever crowdfunding of time - BM has me now as first crowdfunder...)
  14. Strangely, you put almost identical words that I already wrote as answer And to add - because, just for one example, year ago Neuman's put their "Dies Somnum" short movie that received here unanimous acclamation for its "cinematic" quality.
  15. I suppose that you take into consideration that Blackmagic image is 12bit vs Sony's 8bit - and what does it mean? About dilema between resolution/color as you put in regards A6500 vs BMPCC, I'd say that problem is that our eyes simply don't perceive too much resolution as natural when it is not support by enough color-gradient informations between pronounced border of details. So, even that what we can see in, say The Revenant, is not "natural" for our eye's discerning cappability - but because of enormous reserve of color nuances that mitigate result of oversharpness - our eyes more easily accommodate to that, what seems as new cinema-look paradigma.
  16. I suppose that you well know that it is possible to properly monitoring audio from H4n within the camera, by using attenuator cable between recorder's line output and GH5 mic input? If the sound for you in this case is not enough good during monitoring, than there's a time for another option. I personally like good/excellent old ECM-44B, because of their unbeatable sturdiness...
  17. Thank you - just, maybe omission of Terra 4K looks more founded because of higher price? I was simply wrong thinking that criteria is on-the-field value as "Best video m43". But now with argument that mention and point to "destroying camera and cars" I see my mistake in commenting on.
  18. Thanks again, now I understand better process of your conclusion.
  19. Thanks and - OK, your list, your definition ... I mention it only because of "battle" title that you put in the first line - "in the Best M43 Video Category".
  20. Apart of fear of some funny pompous voices, I can't understand why GH5 would not be include in the list - especially if the sense of comparison is working usability?
  21. She is so lovely... and I think there's some serenity of Yasujirō Ozu's style in this unpretentious shots that lure enjoyable smile as result. Maybe just to add one more angle as variation while she is speaking? I like the most this part/composition because of simplicity and combination of colors of wood/oldfashioned darkblue fabric that highlights subtle naive moves of her timid eyes...Maybe it can be pattern or the best foundation for an idea - to compose another version of little movie as a story of her virtue and virginity as deriving (and owing to) from her antique background...
  22. Yes - Resolve can now dance a circle around competition because of obviously mostly modern, flexible code system (it seems that Resolve refresh it from the ground about v12). As it is widely known, problem with Premiere is obsolent base code. Adding new and new possibilities is more easy with such code construction. What is unbelievable is so fast inclusion - it seems very efficient - of totally different code system of Fusion... Or it could be that they are not so different after unnoticed refreshing of Resolve - which than demonstrate BM highly clever software planning strategy. Actually, I believe that as mediator here played important role now killed eyeon's complementary Generation, written as extremely flexible open source system.
  23. Yes, I tried them all except last one from Fxphd. I also at the first place recommend fxphd's - I'd suggest, look around for early ones, Fus201 and Fus202 - Fusion doesn't change anything in its base using at least for 7 years. There's also great old course with Matt Lennard's own company called Fusion 3D, although for Fusion v5-6 (Lennard also was instructor on first fxphd's) - I have this dvd it somewhere, but I can't remember the name od Lennard's company to easy find a link. Early cmivfx's have plethora of more specific informations and examples - for example, there's still not, I think, anything better about using of particles than two courses from cmivfx. Fusion particle system was so advanced even before 8 years that it doesn't need any add (at the time where Nuke has no anything similar). Their not so long course about rotoscoping - which maybe the most important for Resolve users - is also great, concise and simple. EDIT http://www.spherevfx.com/videotraining/legacy/fusion-5-in-depth-3d/ correction - Matt Leonard not Matt Lennard
  24. ... including myself... that I called new version of crowdfunding: by using of time Let's announce something unfinished half year in advance to prevent competitive existing product not to be bought. Of course, anybody in theory could withdraw initial sum - but in praxis it would be rare... Buyers of BMCCC were willing to wait year and half for preordered cameras... So let's collect thousand of preorders to bind customers - although even now it is obvious that they couldn't be dispatched to the time for most of preordering buyers. But, I'm no regretting any moment - from the beginning of GH5s I protested because of insolent price. From my point of view, Panasonic deserved to be warned in a such way. And I like that BM did it. I'm just afraid that such behavior will be from today new standard... and I dislike it. Contrary, I liked very much when BM's announcement of UMP was completely opposite: WYSIWYG NOW!
