They've recently released a full frame crop mode (which sounds odd but you know what I mean !) for the GFX50s so they'd argue they've already got a full frame camera. Their next move supposedly is a rangefinder version of it priced in between the GFX and the XPRO-2....Maybe Fotokina? If Fuji did a tie up with Samsung purely to mount the NX1 as is inside of a new dedicated cinema type body with Fuji's film emulations etc then it would have some legs I think. They'll need to do something though because with Sigma doing more lenses for the E-mount, the advantage they had over Sony by having a broader range of more affordable quality lenses is rapidly disappearing so they could struggle with future premium hybrids.

I don't disagree but its the initial bonding though that is a big struggle or at least was/is for me. Its not so much that there are so many options (although that does mean a lot of hoops to jump through to reach a simple C1 and C2 that you can actually commit to ) but that they all seem to interact with each other in non intuitive ways. I am forever trying to do something and it invoking the "Oh no, not in this mode you don't " pop up. I'm guilty of not really sitting down with a manual and dedicating the real amount of time to it so I should probably quit whining about it until I have. Its almost like the terrible menu system has become part of their brand DNA though isn't it? One of the most elegant menu systems around is from the Leica T and I've grafted it on to this picture of an A7Riii to show how much more simple Sony could make it if they followed that lead. The cameras prior to the A7xIII series that could be hacked through PlayMemories could have custom Android applications put on to them. I know there are a few kicking around that people created to do time lapse and I think a focus stack one but it would be great if it were possible for someone to do a re-skin of the UI to make it look like the Leica T. Because I think Sony are just going to keep coming up with the same interface but even clunkier as they ram more features in.

No, it will be the same across all sensor sizes but the noise levels will vary. Which, in the part of the world that we both currently are, is already currently 1/5000th at f2.8 at ISO100 so we should probably just stop worrying about motion cadence and equivalence and go the beach

Mmmmm......The F8n is Bluetooth LE so it is actually possible to have multiple clients but it would depend on how Zoom have implemented it.

To be honest, unless you are in a continuously lit arena with even coverage where you would use Manual exposure, then Aperture Priority (with Auto ISO and defined minimum shutter speed) is actually the best way to shoot sport. We have to ride the aperture for separation or deeper coverage depending on where/what the action is and then let the camera take care of the shutter speed based on the rules we've set it.

I'll rephrase that as he knows more about magnets than I do so our respective knowledge levels about them are poles apart.

In my imagination, they are the yuppy couple who've moved in next door to him and he's got a backyard full washing machines and Triumph moterbikes in various states of disassembly and in theirs they've got a hot tub and a mid life crisis Harley Davidson. They think he plays AC/DC as an act of aggression and he thinks they have their teeth whitened in an act of passive aggression.

The flip side of that though is that the people who do get it and don't want the traditional one will be prepared to pay for that style and you won't constantly be in a pricing war with other producers who make those traditional ones. Go your own way, make your own market and own it. You won't get every job but you'll get the jobs where people want what you are creating more than they want the lower price you are charging.

That looks amazing. I played something similar (but less sophisticated) at Sega in Tokyo called Mortal Blitz. Never have I been so utterly convinced that I was fighting monsters on a space ship whilst actually in reality only walking around 50 square metres of grey carpet! Right at the end there is a section where you have to run across a narrow pipe to get to safety and whilst you should know full well that the drop into the abyss on either side of it poses no danger it doesn't stop you tip toeing across it like a cat. Its hilarious to watch other people play it after you've played it (its in an open space at the top of the arcade) and everyone does the same thing at the end ! We have a VR arcade here that is setup for multiplayer and they put each of you in a separate curtained off area that has the motion detectors to track your movement. The games themselves are probably not what you would class as AAA titles on a console but when you are in the moment playing with a few friends you are completely absorbed and it is a lot of (expensive) fun. I've mentioned before but there is a VR "cinema" that I went to in Amsterdam (basically just some headsets and swivel chairs) and I watched a couple of documentary shorts that it really did work very well for.

There were times it felt like being on a ride (at the right times through chases and so on) but there was also a lot of subtlety going on as well with drone and crane shots. If its used to add these sorts of accents to "real" films as opposed to being shot from the get go as a 4DX thrill ride then its a great addition to the right film. And it has to be the right film, its not going to work on everything but for films where you've already signed up to leave any arthouse sensibilities at the door then you might as well go all in and get rained on as well ! I still keep coming back though to how interesting it might be to have 4DX re-releases of films like Saving Private Ryan where I think it would actually be incredible.

Its based on the sensor spec (which is likely the same one as the GH5 based on different discussions) which can do 120fps at 1080 and that the software enables you to tweak binning and regions of interest and create your own capture resolutions as listed on the product link. You'd have to check with the manufacturer regarding the specifics of those settings but the software appears to support the creation of it. As this is only an example of such a product (there are a bunch of companies who make similar ones based on the same principle using the same or similar sensors) then if this one doesn't allow the exact resolution/fps combo that you need then I'm sure a more comprehensive dig around will find one that does. I had a look at the forum where astrophotographers are discussing it but I gave up after about 20 pages because, with all due respect to them, it was a bit of a dry read that makes train spotting seem like an extreme adrenaline sport in comparison

And with the split screen function of the iPad you can have the F8n app and VLC open on the same screen to control the F8n and monitor the video

I have an elderly Tascam HD-P2 that I bought at a 2nd hand computer fair for £50 off someone who wasn't really aware of what it was for the rare occasions I need timecode. On a day to day basis - particularly for my two main 2019 projects - I'd prefer the form factor more over the F8n as well as the price and, plus, the M version has the additional music recording functionality that I can find a use for. If I needed timecode then I'm not too bothered about using LTC and the subsequent track sacrifice. As I say though, all of this is predicated on if the MixPre6-M was available at an equivalent price to what it is in the US. As its not and is a virtually the same price as the F8n then it would be silly not to suck up the form factor aspect, take the extra tracks, timecode, look ahead limiters et al and get the Zoom. It being silly and me doing it anyway though is still not entirely out of the question

It was about €950 when I last looked, so a bit cheaper than Thomman in Germany who are usually my reference point.

Versus the real currency conversion of the BH price of it which is €770 Literally cheaper to get a flight to NY and buy one. Or two. I'll have the other one off you !
