Maybe, but I have never heard them say that it was a choice at all. Time will tell 🙂

Interesting answer on the autofocus question by Panasonic's Matt Frazer. So if they choose better dynamic range and image quality over phase detect autofocus as he says. Will they do the same choice with a potential S2H, that has good dynamic range already? At 20.19 he talks about the autofocus choice they made.
  4. A great feature that makes manual focusing easier with a lot of Sigmas lenses. "[Benefit of the update] ・It introduces compatibility with the “focus ring control” function of the camera, allowing either “linear” or “non-linear” focus movement to be selected when using MF. * SIGMA fp L, SIGMA fp, Panasonic Lumix S1, Lumix S1R, Lumix S1H, Lumix S5, Lumix BS1H, Leica SL2, SL2-S are supported." https://www.sigma-global.com/en/news/2022/01/20/17062/ I've updated the 35 mm 1.4 DG DN, 24-70 2.8 DG DN and 45 2.8 DG DN lenses with my S5. You can't choose all focus throw options on the lenses, it differs from lens to lens. A PDF with linear focusing capability on Sigma lenses: https://www.sigma-global.com/en/wp/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/19194020/b426410d055d97782540c28f4b9b01d1.pdf
  5. I rarely shoot music videos but I made one for a friend a couple of months before the pandemic. Shot with GH5, with Pana/Leica 15mm 1.7, 25mm 1.4 and 42,5 Nocticron. And two Aputure HR 672s. No pre-production, no storyboard, It's was all improvised, a very stressful couple of hours so bear with me 🙂 I used Emotive color v3 when editing.
  6. Panasonic has updated some lenses to mark II. The Panasonic Leica Summilux DG 25/1,4 II, Panasonic AF 20/1,7 II and Panasonic AF 12-35/2,8 G Lumix Vario ASPH Power OIS II are all mark II lenses with small upgrades and the old ones are phased out. Then they have produced new more expensive and unique lenses, like the Summilux 10-25 1.7 and Panasonic Leica 12-60 2.8-4. Let's hope it's the same with the GH5 mark II, some small upgrades to replace the original GH5 and then there is a GH6 coming, maybe a new body design and new unique specs. One can always dream :) But I'm happy right now with my S5 and GH5 combo.
  7. You can record larger files as long as you use SDXC cards. From the S5 manual: "When using an SDXC memory card: A new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours and 4 minutes or the file size exceeds 96 GB."
  8. Matt Frazer from Panasonic answers why it doesn't work in the S1H in this video at 47.55, a limitation of how they designed the flow of data. https://youtu.be/lQ2cuFfcWB8?t=2875
  9. at 6.15 in the video you find the external resolutions and framerates. Prores RAW in 5.9k: 24 (I think it's 23.976 not 24) 25 and 30. S35 4k mode adds 50 and 60, and in anamorphic 3.5k you can use 24, 25 , 30 and 50, If he is correct.
  10. Comparison with Sigma 30mm 1.4 and Sigma 18-35 with speedbooster https://blog.krolop-gerst.com/technik/leica-10-25mm-f1-7-lumix-objektiv/ And in the video mentioned above he test it against Lecia 12mm 1.4
  11. Iso-test from Griffin Hammond, S1 vs Gh5 and Gh5s
  12. https://www.43rumors.com/ft5-a-new-force-is-building-up-leica-panasonic-and-sigma-are-on-board-together-on-the-full-frame-sl-mount-project/ Wow! "About lenses: I have been told that all three companies understood lenses are the key to succeed. This means right from the start there will be many more lenses than you can have now with the Canon EOS-R and Nikon Z system."
  13. Some talk about audio, vlog and grading.
