  1. I just wanted to share a fun passion project I just finished for an artist named "Fleurie". We shot all this in my living room and I did all the VFX in Apple Motion 5. Shot 4k with a7SII but delivered HD (my computer wouldn't handle 4k 3d graphics well). Just thought I'd share! Let me know if you have any questions about it. I had fun making it
  2. It's a totally different sensor. Which is a good thing because I believe the 1dc sensor is superior to the C100 sensor. More mojo. But I think cinema 5d did some tests back in the day with 1dc vs c100 s35. I need to do my own tests though I've been curios too.
  3. huh? Ya I noticed with my monitors and old Zacuto EVF. The Gratical will be future proof though and will be used on other productions with other cameras.
  4. I just re purchased a 1DC and pumped to have it back. Was able to buy the Zacuto Gratical as well with some of the money I saved by re buying it. ALSO....if you live in the New York area....take this offer up!!! $2199!!! Insane. http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/pho/5735235400.html
  5. I'd love to get a C500 in two years when the price comes down even more and 4K recorders are $300.
  6. That's awesome! Looks really nice. Thanks for sharing! Never heard of the guy. Typical American response I'm sure.. Lol
  7. The one I had was a totally different rating. I'm seeing the same quality of 1dc going for $3999 now online on B&H and eBay. And yes. You are right. I came out on top with what a rental vs return would have been. But how is that wrong again? I am baffled that this argument is still going on? I followed all the rules of purchase and return. How does a rental fee have anything to do with it? I wasn't satisfied with my purchase. If the price drop didn't happen within my 30 day window I wouldn't have returned it.
  8. I'm loving where this thread is going. Lol
  9. Actually...If I bought it new then it would be non refundable. Used doesn't state that its non refundable... For the record....I love to stick it to the man. But I haven't done that here. I followed every rule and did literally nothing wrong here. According to their own return policy, by me simply being dissatisfied (price drop) is all that is needed for a valid refund. That is all. I didn't loose $3000. More like $1,000 in the used market. Thats still pretty sucky! Hence my dissatisfaction.
  10. Oh gosh. Don't even remind me of that terrible incident!! Lol. I'm just glad he's fine now.
  11. From Adorama: "We believe that in order to have the best possible online shopping experience, our customers should be 100% satisfied with their purchase. So, if you're not happy with your purchase for any reason, just go through our easy self-service return process." I wasn't 100% satisfied because within that 30 day window the price of the camera went down $3000. That's reason enough according to them to be able to return it. They ran tests on it and responded to me that everything was fine and they clearly saw my usage of it. They still issued the refund. I don't feel like this was a wrong thing at all. Nothing in their return policy does it say "if used on paid work returns aren't allowed". If anything I would think that that's the best way to decide if your "100% satisfied". To use it in paid work environments since that's the way you're gonna be using it if you decide to keep it. Hahahaha!
  12. Yes. Adorama has a no questions asked 30 day return policy. As long as it's in good condition and all the pieces are still there
  13. I'm waiting on Photokina. Supposed 5d4 rumors that seem interesting and possible C100 mk3 at some point. We'll see.
  14. I bought my 1DC used a month ago just two weeks before the price drop. Paid $5,000 used. Just returned it and got a full refund! Now I may re purchase it new or hold out for what will happen in the next two months before I make a decision. I know that I LOVE the IQ of 1DC and my clients were very pleased with the way the footage came out in Mexico and Guatemala. I can't believe I got a refund. Kinda like a free 1 month rental!
  15. No. I really think Sony with the FS line and Canon with their C line are truly a step down from the Red and Arri world. I always choose to use Canon C for convenience and budget. Not IQ necessarily.
  16. C300 mkii makes more sense for me now with a 1DC. I'm gonna rent one and do some tests. Not many people in my area are using c300 mkii. Alexa and Red are king in Nashville.
  17. Interesting info guys. Thanks for sharing. The Raven is a really attractive camera to me still though because of the weight and size. Fits on a MoVI M5 and would sit nicely in my small think tank bag with my 1DC. Two small little cinema machines. Plus the RED name is so attractive to producers.
  18. Good to know. Interesting thing about the noise. The skin tones look better to me than MX ever was. I'm considering buying a Raven but I'm a little hesitant because the crop factor and data management. I love my 1DC but long for HFR. Raven has some lovely options for high frame rates especially at that price.
  19. Curious to know if any of you have had experience with Red Dragon sensor. I'm hearing lots of mixed reviews on it. I've shot with MX multiple times but actually haven't worked with Dragon yet.
  20. Yes! My friend had his C300 held at customs his entire trip in Nicaragua. They wouldn't let him bring it into the country without a ridiculous tax fee. He just shot the promo with his iPhone that week.
  21. The last month I've done two international trips with the 1DC and I'll say this camera is fantastic for that type of work. A real ninja camera. The DSLR form factor makes going through customs a breeze.
  22. Let's look at the previous track record.... Canon 1DX comes out. Then a few months later the 1DC comes out. Fast forward to now. 1DX mkII comes out. A few months later.... 1DC mkII comes out? That's my educated guess. We'll see.
