  1. lol... Because of those stints with Kimmel... I can't take Matt Damon seriously. Me and my wife were the only ones laughing at this guy when he woke up and he started crying in Interstellar (and that was supposed to be a serious scene too).
  2. Will this become more and more the norm after the Red Hydrogen One? What about after they start adding those modules that add large sensor capabilities to the Hydrogen One?
  3. Wow... Okay... I never said that I knew the answer nor do I have a method to do that... It was rhetorical question.... I was born and raised in Canada, English is my native tongue. Do you not know the definition of majority and minority? Let me try to explain it to you in another way. Assuming you do know the definition (if you don't, please google it) Who is your target audience? Say your target audience is a 100 people. What would the majority be? Anything above 50 peeps, right? Whatever is remaining is the minority, right? Look around you man... There are over 7 billion people in this world, of the 7+ billion people - how many of those people saw your videos? The number of views, would you consider that a smaller subset of the larger population (minority) or a big chunk of the larger population (majority). Of course, it's foolish to assume all 7+ billion can watch one particular video. But, as a filmmaker you are trying to get as many people (the majority) to watch your video and as much as possible... But, if you are doing the video for yourself and the only viewer is you, a singular person, then you make up the minority. 1 out of 7+ billion. So, all I was saying is to create video, no matter what camera you use, is to cater to the majority (and that's if you are aiming to be a filmmaker). And, again.... I never said there is a set method or a way to do this... Figure that $h!T on the your own. If, after all that... What Im saying sounds like French to you. Au revoir mon ami, parce que tu est impossible (sorry if my French is rusty, cause it's not my native tongue)
  4. So, you consider yourself an enthusiast and above? Ask yourself this... The videos that you make.... You make them for yourself or for everyone? If the answer is everyone..... That everyone is the majority.... You, yourself is the minority. Do I need to go into an example here?? "X-H1 is aimed at budget filmmakers and demanding stills shooters." Really??? Did you know the following: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/groups/markets-film-captain-america https://www.provideocoalition.com/fury-rig-from-mad-max-to-your-dslr/ I'm guessing those were budget films. Again, the 5D mark ii spawned the cine line (I remember stating that the 5D2 had a 12 min. record limit) May be the X-H1 is a test bed for a Fuji cine line of camera bodies....After all, they are already in it already with lenses "demanding stills shooters" I don't know about that, because it's literally the same sensor as the other cams.... Unless they really need IBIS.... Also, I would think that someone that is a "demanding stills shooter" would rather go medium format??? GFX??
  5. Quick question: Does the GH5, NX1 or Sony alpha 7 cams have 180 degree shutter angle (for 24p) or 1/48 shutter speed?
  6. I'm not extremely proud of these guys, nothing to brag about, and its not even new stuff - its from 2013 (when I was breaking into the industry, and I did this promo for free)... I can't show you the latest stuff cause client-owns it and all that privacy and confidentiality agreements.
  7. Huh? I think I know what you are alluding to.... Art over tech? The constant evolution of technology, and this incessant need to attain the best that is offered in terms of technology meanwhile sacrificing art in the process. I guess so... I also think that you can't wait for that "unicorn" of a camera... Just use what you have to capture that idea in your head.
  8. I figured that less information is being compressed. But then I started thinking about the DJI PP4 vs Mavic Pro - same compression but the bigger sensor was still better. Yeah, lets see.... I read somewhere it was 45mbps....
  9. Good question, and I don't have the correct answer to it. Here is my half-assed answer, if you'd like to hear it. I feel that in the name of good video vs. cinematic video, that they are 2 different things.... and if you can manipulate the image enough, then you can manipulate the video to either side. The real question is... how much time do you want to spend and which side is good enough for you? Now, I also feel that all of them (Canon, Panasonic, Sony and Fuji, although Fuji just started) are trying to get the whole range: consumer, prosumer, hobbyist, enthusiast, independent filmaker, low-to-high end professionals. Cost and image is also a factor in this, but going back to "how much time do you want to spend and which side is good enough for you?" Do you really think a consumer, prosumer and may be even hobbyists, even care to spend time that much time? Then again, Canon has the best images straight out of camera (auto-everything right?). Now, the real questions - enthusiasts, filmmakers and the peeps above should be asking is whats good enough for the majority so that when they look at it, they will say "wow" now thats a good movie. Did anyone see 15:17 to Paris??? Its a Clint Eastwood movie... The contest/story was there, but he had to use the real peeps (bad actors) and who the hell was the DP? Who greenlighted it to be in theatres? This is one of those cases... Now back to your specific questions, I don't know who Fuji's target audience is with this camera... nor do I know Panasonic's or Sony's... But, ask yourself this... what spurred Canon's cinema line in the first place? It all started with the 5D mark 2 - instead of fueling that fire.... they threw water on it and said lookey over here... cinema line! XLR, built-in ND and everything video! Meanwhile.... Panasonic saw that and said.... holy shit!!! build that GH1 quick and push those video features.
  10. I don't know... with NAB 2018 around the corner... We are already beginning to see Canon's crappy cards. May be they might pull a wildcard? C100 mark 3? Better than the C100 mark 2, but worse than the C200? This camera (xh-1) too is like Goldilock's camera - not the best... not the worst... just right? We will see with the reviews....
  11. If the rumoured specs are exactly as said... It's not bad, and I may recommend this camera - but only to beginners that may want 4K in the future. Not good enough for my needs... Come on... 1080p at 35mbps? That's worse than the 6D2, rightfully so, because it's cheaper, but I can get better IQ from a used t2i. Plus, we don't know the crop of the 4K yet and whether it's UHD/DCI..... So all in all.... Is it still worth it?
  12. The picture would have a complimentary middle finger shown by the CEO too.
  13. Haha... I will take that bet... Wait... wait... whats the burst rate again? Oh yeah.... okay... I will raise you 4K 10fps... haha.
  14. Technically, you can't argue that that isn't a 4K camera... And if Canon went down this route.... It's going to be an ongoing cruel joke that only Canon peeps seem to get... But, Im afraid that this is probably the only thing they can do to say that they are working on it, to keep current customers from leaving and not hurt the cinema line ( and/or higher end cams like the 1dx2 and 5DiV) It will definitely sell... Not sure who to blame.... I remember saying that the number of dumb peeps outnumber the smart ones. Oh well, whatever.... I want the work that I bring out of any gear that I use to speak for itself - I don't care if it's Panasonic, Sony, Fuji or otherwise.
  15. Easy there.... Wait till it comes out with full specs... For all we know, it can be a 4K camera like the Fuji X-A5. That turned out to be a real mind f_ck... Just go look that up at bhphotovideo.com (look at the highlights, then go into the specs section and see the frame rate).
  16. Thats how canonrumors.com is too. These people are too stupid to know how good video can look coming from these large sensored cameras. In any case, this is smart of Fuji.... people that think that way, can't complain that they have to pay extra for video... I mean, yeah... you are paying extra for video in this case, but its the same sensor as the other cameras, if you don't want the video features go to the other cameras (plain and simple, and its cheaper too).
  17. Wouldn't they have fixed that in production models vs. pre-production models. All these videos are from beta-testers some that go back to November 2017
  18. I really want to see you review this thing against other cams... don’t let these videos discourage you in anyway or form from doing a review on the x-h1. May be it’s just F-log... who knows.... I mean... you didn’t like S-log either... bypassed it and went straight to HLG. May be it’s the same... you might not like the eterna profile either? I know you called the X-T20 a beast (and that had a 10 min recording limit in UHD).... so you may like this cam too? Perhaps, in the other profiles? May be... let’s see? let me remind you that you were bashing the 1DC too, when it first came out... mainly due to price.... but when it came down in price and you were able to really afford one through the used market... it’s become the baseline for 4K IQ... Well... can’t say the same for the x-h1... but since it has pretty much the same hardware and then some additions (like IBIS, touch LCD, shoulder display, etc.) and way more video specs than the X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20... I figure it has to be better than the X-T20, which you called a beast. But, I need you to say it... It could be the Beast of beasts... lol
  19. I find it funny that you give comments like this... and look at the date.... the GH5 was released months before this post. And, then you get a sour apple type negativity towards the X-H1 when its announced with far more video features than the X-T20. Just sayin... is it the bigger body? Price? Cause the recording time is like 10 min. (continuous) on this thing (X-T20).
  20. I'm not disagreeing with you. Just want to make one thing clear.... its just semantics and how you think along the lines of what the words actually mean.... "turn off" is not the same as "turning down." And, in the end, it all comes down to how much did Panasonic think was enough noise to be acceptable by the general user. And, this goes the same with any company and what they are not telling you.... for example, Canon might be adding a filter somewhere along the pipeline to clean up the image slightly before handing it over to the user so the end user can say I applied NR here.
  21. Given the fact that you have no way of turning off Noise reduction, that that is the character of the camera.,... so those are the images you will get every time and all the time with the GH5.
  22. The real question is... can the GH5 and/or GH5S do better? I have neither Fuji nor Panasonic... no glass... nothing... so I have no real stake in it.... by saying it. I think the Fuji looks better than the GH5. This is purely wooden niccolls to wooden niccolls... here is a GH5 version: And from watching that... this is very digital and video-y to me. Its my personal opinion, though. But, I will admit the Gh5 is far more compact and to be somewhat equivalent they had to shoot the Fuji with an external recorder to get 4:2:2. 1000% agree on the T/O grading.... but is that part of the Eterna profile? Or is that separate grading? Plus, I admit the girl might of swayed me to like it
