Belle reacted to ntblowz in Samsung 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX to add 6K video on mobile side by Xiaomi is coming... for a few hundred bucks
That lowlight portrait is pretty impressive, much cleaner than my current S10
Btw I cancelled my pre-order of S20u.. I think Mi10 Pro might be my next one.

Belle reacted to Juan Melara in P6K to ARRI Alexa - Resolve PowerGrade
Beyond charts, I didn't put them side by side. But in real world testing the difference in highlight range is hard to notice in most situations.
At ISO800 theres 6.5 stops above middle gray for the P4K, 6.9 on the P6K, 7.8 on the Alexa. On charts the differences are easy to see. In the real world with correct exposure anything above about 6-7 stops is into extreme highlight territory, which doesn't actually occur often in outdoor scenes. In all the P4K/Alexa sample images in this post it's only the lights in the dusk shot that are beyond 7 stops. So for most shots the extra ~0.4 stop is hard to notice. Where it would be noticeable is if you place anything important up in that range and try and bring it back, like those tests you linked to.

great work with the conversion @Juan Melara I am going to purchase it both powergrade and lut.
based on your extensive tests matching the cameras, did you notice a noticeable difference between 4k and 6k in terms of DR and especially in exposure recovery? I ask because in this test there is a massive recovery gap in favor of the 6k:
4k recovery test // 6k recovery test
thx in advance.

Belle reacted to Patrick B. in Android Filmic Pro: Disable digital video sharpening
Being an iPhone owner I totally missed this:
This is great and I hope Apple follows suit in opening up their API. For all the advancements in mobile phone imaging, I feel like the baked in sharpening artifacts are the one of the weakest areas of mobile video now that DR and low light are starting to improve.
This seriously makes me want to get an Android just for video.

Belle reacted to Emanuel in Mad Mike case
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mad-mike-hughes-daredevil-and-flat-earth-theorist-killed-in-rocket-crash-2020-02-22/
How's this possible in the XXI century?
Isn't there a limit for freedom of thinking?
Flat earth theorist !?? Are they kidding me?
Aren't there mental health authorities in US? I mean US, but could be anywhere else. Seems pretty clear to me, there's a border between common sense vs (plain/full) insanity.
Why not to simply forbid this kind of acrobatics? Last time I heard there are rules for drones to fly...
IMHO society (that is, all of us) represented by the State is responsible for such loss.

In fact. And let's not confound this with Franky Zapata please. Not strictly because one succeeded, the other doesn't. One had a noble purpose -- yes, that matters, makes the whole difference. The other one, unfortunately, pure madness.
Yes, in a word: science. Pops up mind, head, in short, something with brains. That's why is different, not exactly because of the results per se. We usually call it achievement from a paradigm made with sense of proportion (again: reason, rationality, purpose), where and when there's such thing to justify the risk.
The craziness is not on the fearless-guts but the whole world around. The method or its lack. Because requires grounds. As someone commented here: "He died of stupidity rather than genuine rocket research." A suicide mission as someone else also wrote. A stupid one as it's easy to infer. That's not news.

Probably just ignorant or too naive as some other alternatives or excuses, isn't it? ; )
No, read again my post... "I mean US, but could be anywhere else." I think I left it clear, no? Of course, there are silly people everywhere WTH.
Evel Knievel never scheduled a stupid agenda to justify his entertainment business AFAIK. Horses for courses.
I think and do defend authorities should play a role on certain cases. Insanity can be dangerous as much as flying drones or rockets for that matter. No idea how people stare to attend such sad show. First question to come to my mind: are we talking about a licensed or allowed activity to begin with? To launch rockets to the space like we all live in somewhere more than 100 years ago? Last time I checked we are in 2020... ; -)
Shame on everyone who let this happen.

Belle reacted to Emanuel in Mad Mike case
Insanity is a severe mental disorder and State should be responsible for, in order to provide efficient assistance.
Your freedom of thinking is harmless until the day it can hurt.
I don't like to use safety belt in my car, as well I find too boring any rules, those about drones included.
But, sense of community and rationality -- the reason, means to respect them. This comprehends to respect the others.
Your freedom CANNOT prevail over the freedom of other people or the rights and civilized principles such as caring of patients with mental problems, even if apparently healthy because Psychiatry is a truly complex medical specialty. Let alone the whole invisible world behind.
Respect common sense is an obligation of yours to see your right of free thinking to be respected as well.
We're not living in the Germany of 30s. This applies for both ends. Got it?
E : -)
PS:
Not only the State but also the sponsors are responsible for this tragedy. They created such a circus in this crazy world of profit where we all live in. A shame, a crime without punishment too. I do care about the world around me. It invariably concerns me. Or I just am an(other) accomplice.

Disclaimer: This is a project that was financed by a friend and business partner of mine, also stereographer (has worked with Peter Greenaway BTW IMDb LINK), no one had to be killed or was harmed (rooster included) to collaterally photograph and show the spherical reality as it is...

Belle reacted to heart0less in BTS On Challenging Shoots
It must've been really taxing on the whole production team, wow.
This BTS definitely comes to my mind:
Though, truth be told, I enjoy more watching some small BTSes on Vimeo. Simply because they are not AAA titles, which have all the money and resources in the world.
Here is one of my favorites (still, it's one of the fancy ones - burning down houses? being able to cast ~100 extras?)

Belle reacted to Emanuel in 8K 360 Camera from Kandao
There's no impressive reframing I've seen so far to be straightforward. This doesn't mean it can't be useful, it is, I firmly believe will variably end handy.
But, my impression is basically made on 10-bit and successive low light response and colour fidelity. What other device you have for that so light form factor, humm? ; -)
Let's reframe and refrain the whishful thinking...
No capture device tools you've heard about will likely suppress those ones you already are aware, that well-known functionality to serve your needs.
Horses for courses : )
That said, be ready for this game changer! LOL How to neglect 8K 360º acquisition? : -)

One of these days, DJI pops up with a new VR360 acquisition drone everyone will not resist to buy... The future for aerial photography is there...
Just a comment line. In a word to say the least: Impressive. The best bang for the buck today : -)
