Rinad Amir reacted to Simon Shasha in Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 on FF Sensor
Just pointed my A7S + Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 at a plain white wall. Shot in 1080P at 24FPS in full-frame mode.

Rinad Amir reacted to Simon Shasha in Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 on FF Sensor
Hey guys,
Not sure if anyone has pointed this out before, but last night I was messing around with my Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 on my Sony A7S. Once attached to the A7S, I reminded myself that I was going to have to switch it to APS-C mode. However, to my surprise, the lens wasn't vignetting, even though the A7S was still in full-frame mode. Eventually, it did vignette, but not until around 24mm. I concluded that between 26-35mm, this lens is absolutely fine for full-frame sensor use. You can even get away with 24mm, which produces a very slight vignette (if you letterbox your footage, it would hide the vignette at 24mm).
Anyway, just thought I'd point it out.
Enjoy!

Jup. Almost as if they tricked people. It's like you're in a mall and walk into this one store and they've got a little promotional stand to sample something... you like it so much, you come back again a little later for another free sample at the end of your shopping spree hoping the lady doesn't recognise you from earlier. Still leaves you wanting more... you know you can't keep showing up for free samples forever and finally just give in a buy the damn thing to enjoy it in abundance and all its glory.
Does make sense just to pay for it. In some way everybody that's serious about their video gets the real NLE deal too, I guess you could probably download a cracked version from somewhere, but if it's something you actually have to work with... you just want to keep it legit and furthermore: with the least amount of hassle/worries about functionality. Anyways, they've got my 103 or so EUR already. Just would appreciate it if they'd ship out those keys already, really don't see what's keeping them. In meanwhile it can't hurt to leave 2.3 on there with the workaround V-LOG already sampling it. Already having some experience with how to shoot & process the footage will save some time having to figure it out later.

It's better than any of the other 4K hybrids. By a mile.
Looks like the GH4 still shows those weird blobby artifacts around point light sources at high ISO. I really hope they work on that for the GH5. It's so wacky-looking and impossible to correct in post.
Otherwise, great vid! Even though it's a throwaway test, your skill shines through in the editing, atmosphere, and music choice.
Speaking of which...anyone who's played a Valve game should find the music familiar. It's from Half-Life, but now plays over Valve's studio logo when loading any of their titles.

Thanks to Panasonic. Seems like they went to so much trouble to secure it lol. This isn't even a hack, there is no grey area. It is obvious and freely available. No need to delete this thread imho. It is the same thing as a shop putting a 0 cents price sticker on a product: obvious mistake but you would be crazy not to take what is being offered to you. I will of course pay, just like everyone else on this forum. And just like everyone else I never pee in swimming pools
Perfect timing for me as I have a shoot planned for tomorrow. God damn the image is flat- going to be a lot of fun with the brand new finished Resolve 12. It's like Christmas in July September

http://admiringlight.com/blog/the-sliding-scale-of-camera-capabilities/
That applies 100% to video.
Interesting to see how Canon was a killer, democratizing the industry for stills and then for video (5D2) by releasing affordable devices with pro features.
Such a shame it is not the case anymore. What changed at Canon?
All of this because of their Cine line I hate it, and hate all of you who are buying C100, C300, C500 that make money to Canon and make them cripple the 7Ds/5Ds bodies for us non professional ...
Without this Cine line, we would get a 5D4 with 4K with great bitrate and Canon Log - DPAF and so on.......
I still think 5D4 will have 4K unlike many of you (don't imagine how a body can come in 2016 without 4K, that would be non imaginable) when even iPhones get 4K.
But it will probably a 5D3 like video, which means not clean, poor bitrate, no HFR, ...
Anyway.

Rinad Amir reacted to wolf33d in 3 axis gimbals are dead, this is insanity
Yes you can. It is just recommended to shoot at 1/125s minimum for best result. Plus it has a motion blur capability in post that works well (see video).
Absolutely not. Did you bother at least looking at the link? Actually on a consumer grade shit PC it does render at 8fps for FHD.
Considering you are a filmaker with a decent station, you can expect 8fps in 4K. Not bad at all.
Indeed. If you want native 8k it is not the solution either. It is the solution if you want amazingly smooth footage in a 30 grams package instead of your horrible 5 kilos gimbal, to transform 4K footage into FHD (which 90% of people do anyway).
Relax. The title of this subject is 2nd degree. This is a first view of a prototype as you say not even on the market. Saying gimbals are dead means they soon will be. In the future we won't use gimbal (in 5 years from now) we will have cameras that will have this guys' system integrated and deliver 4K from 8K silky smooth.
The tech of this product made from a young french guy is insane in my opinion. Why Olympus Sony Canon DJI and so on did not make this ? I mean, they have the cameras they should do it internally !!
AND IMAGINE THIS ON GIMBALS !! there is already those sensor in a Phantom 3... DJI could do that and deliver a pefect image (this product works best for micro vibration and jittery/jellow images).
Also with a gopro, I would certainly have a GoPro with this in 4K superview and deliver silky smooth 1080p than having an horrible twice expensive huge GoPro 3 axis gimbal that does not deliver half of this smoothness. Look at the results in hyperlapse too... This is insane. Just look at the other videos on the link.
Anyway, with reluctant negative resistant-to-change people like you, we would still be at the age of stone
I say congrats to these guys and even if the product is far from perfect and obviously not useable for 100% of the needs, it is great tech. I aplaude and look forward for the exciting future in camera tech.

Keep in mind this is one single persons experience on the internet. And for the record, its published on a website that has a pretty proven track record of posting large amounts of BS at least once a week.
Give the camera a rental. Get it in your hands and see how it actually performs.

Panasonic did officially put it out there and sought the publicity.
If they are to do that again, some concrete details about release date and pricing might help!

Rinad Amir reacted to DBounce in Panasonic GH4r
My main beef is this rumor did not come from Panasonic. Should Panasonic be expected to add features and respond to every rumor on the internet? All current GH4 owners entered the purchased based upon the current spec sheet, so what is the problem?
Let me right now start a rumor... Their is a "secret" GH4 firmware that can add 14bit color and 16 stops of DR. Will you be angry if it turns out these features are in a totally different camera? This really is how silly this argument is. These rumors didn't come from Pannie... They don't need to respond nor support the rumored features.

Rinad Amir reacted to DBounce in Panasonic GH4r
From what I've heard the cameras used were prototype test units. Panasonic never released a beta firmware with V-Log. Also, there seems to be the assumption that if a feature can be added in firmware then it should be, as there is really no cost involved. The developers writing the code to add the new features do not work for free. So there is certainly a cost involved, but that's OK so long as it's not the consumer footing the bill right? Software features cost the manufacturer money. It's not a freebee.
Makes sense to add it in a new model. Few and I do mean few companies will throw in major new features for free. There are exceptions... Samsung, please stand up.
