Hey Luke, How do you like the GH5 compared to the A7S II, does it replace the A7SII (except low light, full frame and more DR)? Thanks!

Hmm seems I will be passing on the GH5, it seems like a decent step up from the GH4. But the highlight roll off seems bad, and the image is still videoish(I know you can work around it, I have done it with the GH3 and GH4), but my main interest was the anamorphic mode, so as long there is no 10bit anamorphic I will not consider it. Its not a bad camera, but I feel like it isnt the right camera for me right now. I wish magic lantern could get ML raw working on the 5D IV, but that will probably also not happen. So I will be fishing for a used RED, kinefinity or ursa mini 4.6k instead, but I still got time so maybe NAB has got some good surprises in store for me.

In that case, please make a GH5 without ibis, so people who dont want ibis can have a GH5 cheaper. V-log is just a software update not even hardware. Everybody has already bought it for their GH4 to extend the GH4 life, now we need to buy it again on a brand new camera....? Well maybe were speaking too soon, lets wait on the actual broadcast.

Yeah no free V-log what the heck. Inlude RAW video aswell and then I shall pay 100€ for the update. Make the image and codec better, instead of trying to include IBIS, PDAF or anything like that no filmmakers cares about(yeah I know cinema camera's are in a other league but it would be damned nice).

Personally I find that fuji has the best color science out there not only mirroless, but basically everything. Maybe loses against Arri. As for now I shoot with an A7S ii, but want to upgrade this. Hopefully the GH5 will blow it out of the water. Not sure if it can do that. The anamorphic options are a big win for the GH series. And Sony will probably wait 5 years for implementing any anamorphic on their cameras. But if the image out of the GH5 somewhat dissapoints, I think I will save up for a RED raven or kinefinity terra or ursa mini 4.6k.

Well I own a A7S II right now, and I hope the GH5 will blow it out of the water(I dont need iso over 3200).

I am also selling mine for 500€, pm me if interested.

- There is quite some noise there though. In the close ups its ok, but when you look at the wide shot its bouncing around everywhere(look at the right guys pants). - The skintones look off to me, way too red. But it is winter, so that might also come into play. - The image seems to be quite the same as the GH4, maybe somewhat cleaner and more detailed. But this footage does not have that wow factor to me, but it is a interview after all(but also the ice shots, look way too yellow and that hotspot behind the glass is drawing my attention. I feel like a 1DX II might have done a better job then this. But lets wait till next week, and hopefully some side by sides with other cameras will come out soon.

Yeah I would like to see a street night shot at iso 1600 at F-stop 2.8. To see how much noise there is + we could also see how it handles highlight rolloff(if there is something bright in the frame like a street light)

Yeah prices are dropping fast on the MX camera's. If you got time, I reckon you can get a used epic mx kit for 5-k in 6 months as tech is changing fast, as more ravens and scarlet-w's have hit the market. Im sticking to my A7S II for another 6 months, then I shall see what way I will go. GH5 might be a cheap option though, but Ill have to wait and see.

So whatever it is what you are testing How are the noise levels comparing it to a GH4? As on the GH4 iso1600 was unusable for me. Hopefully on this new camera there will be a massive improvement on this department. And how about the Dynamic Range, is it small upgrade or quite good? And finally is it still the same codec or could we expect something different like h265? Thanks!

Hey, I visited Japan for a week, and tested out the 5D III and to see what it can do with Magic Lantern.

yeah the 5DIII RAW is awesome(I preferred it to my C300 cause the LCD screen on the C300 sucks, bokeh and colorwise ) but is not 4K and it lacks a bit of detail and sharpness, not the mention the timeabsorbing workflow.

yeah if you can find a good RED mx for that price, I would go for the RED MX. Only downside for me is its size, as I can not use it on my ronin-m. Otherwise I would be doing the same. Guess I have to wait until the RED Epic-x prices drop below 4k, or over a year when I might buy a used kinefinity terra. So probably the GH5 will be my next purchase in the meantime.

8:29 I would pick the Phantom 4 any day. The sensor on the mavic is also smaller then the P4.

Well if you need it to be compact as it can get. Get the Mavic. If you dont mind a tab bit more bigger drone, that has better IQ then go with the phantom 4.

Only upgrade it needs is +10bit prores

I am not sure why everybody wants IBIS, do you all shoot handheld? If I may add another crazy feature request, please add RAW video (but I am pretty sure they will not ).

Yeah A7S iso's are crazy and are almost never needed. However a clean iso 1600 or 3200 would be very welcome. Like when you are running run and gun with an anamorphic lens, and you can only open up to 2.8 or 5.6 and you do not have access to any lights (yeah I know it is like 0,00001% of you guys that are doing this, but this is something that I would welcome). I dont need IBIS or autofocus. I shoot with manual lenses and I use grip to stabilize (gymbals, dolly's, glidecams). So my wishlist besides the 10bit: - Clean iso up to 3200 - Hopefully 1 or 2 stops better DR - hopefully the image is better then the GH4 with a external recorder. - Anamorphic desqueeze internal(probably not likely) - Cropmarks - improved v-log - better codec

I bet they will not. They were a year behind on the gh4 with 4k. +Sony has a lot of higher end lines to protect.

Any news on: -DR -clean/ noise iso -sensor -image (better color profiles?)
