CTRT reacted to AaronChicago in V-log unlocked for free!
10 bit 4:2:2 in camera would be game over. I couldn't see using any other camera for a long time.

I think alot of people are right here in saying that you have to pretty much nail the exposure or it could be a disaster. I try getting the exposure meter right at 0 on the GH4, and then figure out my focal point, and adjust as needed.

Putting together an edit of V Log clips from downtown Chicago. Here are some stills till I can finish. I tried finding scenes with extreme DR (alot of shadows, and sunlight).

Wow so many comments and posts about how to do it after a night's sleep. I feel like I released the monster out of the cage.. But see, my hint is much more useful than Apples hint for the 6S, isn't it?

Yeah I heard vlog is meant to be used only at iso 400, and with log and an already noisy camera, exposing properly is very important too. Have seen great stuff from it though. keep trying it out and posting more, because I have nothing else going on in my life

the worst news for them is the gh4R!
If they do make it free in response (which I don't think will happen), the new pre-installed LOG ver, which cost more, is DOA...

worked on mine... and now I'm going to buy it, after spending 5 minutes with it... it's brilliant! I gotta say if this wasn't a ploy to drive up sales it should've been!!

yeah it'd be silly to delete this whole thread. I come here for interesting news, and this is interesting. actually a lot of people on here taking Panasonic's side and saying this is stealing, which you may not have happened at all on another forum. the actual instructions provided in the thread were "hey.. this is possible, figure it out". so yeah, legal trouble would be ridiculous. and honestly don't blame anyone for taking advantage of it.

yeah, moire at 1:10 - and FPN at 2:11, right?
but does look pretty great

And most of the industry. https://vimeo.com/106153701
Seriously dude, let it go. 4K is nice to have, not need to have. Compression, color depth, bit depth, DR, and color science matter much more.

CTRT reacted to Volker Schmidt in Ursa mini 4k footage
It´s been long ago, that an image/- colors has impressed me so much.
The important thing is always the image, not the specs.
Great camera!

CTRT reacted to Volker Schmidt in Ursa mini 4k footage
Here some beautiful footage from the upcoming Ursa mini 4k:
"Most of the footage was shot in Prores HQ (which looks amazing - even more so than the BMCC), Full HD, 60fps. We used all sorts of lenses: Canon 24-70 2.8L, 50mm 1.2L, 100mm 2.8L IS, 17-55 2.8 IS and the Sigma 18-35 1.8. Please note that while the firmware we had on the Ursa Mini was as close to the final firmware as possible, but was still in beta nonetheless."

CTRT reacted to Eric Matyas in All music at soundimage.org is now free for commercial use
Hi everyone,
I've decided to make all of the music on my site free for commercial use as well as noncommercial. Just please credit me properly as detailed on my homepage.
If you decide to use one or more of my pieces, a donation would be greatly appreciated...any amount you can swing would be helpful.
As always, thanks for your feedback and I hope you find something you can use.
Eric

CTRT got a reaction from Liam in So I read that RX10 ii review, and... help!
thanks for your advice, all of it... I will be shooting with this for a long time... the only other tech I want really is a couple of quirky lenses and a new tripod...
The whole LUTs thing has really opened my eyes to a lot of potential for music videos, etc., and yes, music GREATLY informs how I edit, etc.
Here's a little thing I did today with my daughter:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpKUCgdrW4o
Obviously it's not anything, but a little bit of footage for me to play with, but it still looks amazing... for just 5 mins of work.
and look after your dog, it's meant to live in the alps I think!

Of course!
But don't take my word for it. Go on Vimeo and search SLR Magic for some examples. In fact, that's a great way to evaluate any camera gear, short of getting your hands on it yourself.

Much appreciated!

Hey CTRT,
If you're looking for manual primes to compliment your Panasonic 12-35, I'd recommend checking out the SLR Magic line. They're all metal, fast as hell, and have a creamy, 3D rendering style that's extremely cinematic. I currently own the 12 and the 25 for my BMPCC/GH3, and they've performed extremely well thus far.
