cool, that's pretty much the only reason i have really for shooting in 4k mode.. so that means.. but you got to plan ahead for the shot to do this..
I won't be able to use it to face track and automatically follow a presenter on stage and keep him in a tight frame by face tracking
i use coremelt'd fcpx trackerX plugin so i don't have to manually do this for three hours hehe maybe a few years before they combine facetracking and this crop incamera auto zoom stuff together haha

Yeah the DPReview "Mighty but small," review touches on it a bit. And yes it uses the 4K image to do this for 1080p.

Yeah, they seem to differentiate between 5-axis B.I.S. and 5-axis Dual I.S. which includes the help of O.I.S. on 2 of the 5 axis. So either way, you're getting the same 5-axis stabilized. Just not Dual without an O.I.S. lens. You know. To keep things simple 'n all...
Think so too... all the vintage stuff, all the cinema primes, all the speedboosted third party lenses like the Sigma... suddenly stabilized. With G7-like 4K? 'Oh mama!' (Johnny Bravo voice)

Yeah that is kinda my joke about the Ursa Minor... Basically pocket 2 that will combine the qualities from the pocket with the qualities from the mini 4.6. But a Pocket 2 and a separate Ursa Nano would be well received as well.

If I had a $5000 camera budget, I would raise another grand and get the Canon 1DXii. 4K up to 60p. From what I hear, clients love Canon and it will be a workhorse for the next 5 years.
And then I would raise another $1500 and pick up the BMMCC, a screen and a cage.

I have the Takumar 35mm f2 and it's an awesome lens. I also have an RMC Tokina that is also fantastic. Honestly, I haven't seen a 28, or 35mm f2 lens that wasn't cool. I think Kiron may have made one as well. They are usually pretty cheap too.

Yeah, quite a lot of people think IS is a steadycam, when it is just for hand vibration.  Drives me mental when I see reviewers jump up and down and walking slopily to test IS.  I want to say to them: "How do you think that the small movement of the sensor or the lens can compensate for you jumping up and down? You are a moron!"
Edit: I thought you were replying to someone else.

Good call. Put an ef-m mount on this bastard and sell it as a body only camera for $1500.

That's correct. The 12-40 doesn't have OIS. The footage didn't look terrible with the 12-40 but it was obvious that the camera was being handheld. I'd say its a good first attempt by Panasonic.

I mean...no need to make it the ONLY option. Just offer it alongside EF and PL. Where's the downside?

Right!? I'm genuinely stunned they haven't stuck the EF-M mount on a Cinema EOS camera yet. Here they've got a great mirrorless mount with speed boosters and adapters for EF(-S) compatibility just sitting there and they're doing precisely dick all with it.

That requires a lot more effort on BM's part (new sensor, new firmware/processing, new body design, new codecs, lens design/partnership/manufacturing) than Canon's (remove lens, add EF-M mount).

On the G7, I was setting them to 100, but now I dropped it to 95 on zebra 1 and 75 on zebra 2. I assigned the zebras to function 2 and now just cycle through them when necessary.

Reid is right, it is just a tool. Look at Kendy Ty's work or our own @Jonesy Jones feature "The Luggage" to see stunning video shot with a Canon DSLR.

Look guys, we established this YEARS ago, you can shoot with a T2i or any old shit like Kendy did and do great work, especially if it is a low-fi look in the first place that you're after and you rarely use a lens other than 50mm equivalent (a wider lens would show up the lack of resolution).
We have also established that you can then upload this to Vimeo and if the content and shooting is compelling, the locations and characters cinematic looking, well lit and they kept the ISO below 800, when the viewer watches this at 720p on a laptop or TV, they won't notice that it isn't 4K wide dynamic range.
But image quality advances exist for a reason, they help to evolve the art of story telling and make the tools more flexible so they can be used in more challenging circumstances and a wider variety of situations.
I love slow-mo for instance, it's a great creative tool, and I love LOG as it is a substitute for raw when you want to apply a stylised look in post and get a couple of more stops dynamic range, without the much larger file sizes. I shot this in slow-mo and LOG for creative reasons and they made an interesting subject look beautiful -
Couldn't have done that on a T2i or 80D, or indeed any Canon camera I can afford. Do they even have decent looking 120fps on their Cinema EOS stuff??!
And when I shot this on the A7S, GH4 and Nikon D750, the pinsharp details and lack of moire, plus the slow-mo again, helped creatively bring out the look I needed.
If you don't want to focus on this kind of thing then fine, get the 80D and enjoy your AF. Nothing wrong with that. You might tell some great stories and do it really stylistically.
But in my view... image quality and frame rates and extra features are there to be USED.
Pointless writing a blog about cameras otherwise.
If everyone was happy to stick to 80D level of image quality and features then my job would be much easier and I'd have far fewer cameras!!
And then there is also a lot to be said for the motion cadence of a global shutter and vintage super 16 lenses too, which is what gave this shoot the look I wanted, down to a tee...
So before you write off all the exciting specs and just nerdy pixel peeping, consider what they give creatively and stylistically and consider what you are missing out on when you sacrifice all this for convenience's sake with the 80D!!

I found switching to 70% brought a huge improvement in general quality for me, focussing on people instead of some small patch of sky in a window in the corner of the frame (for example) I think gives much better results..
70% zebras plus simple histogram is also a great combination

Canon and Nikon might respond to this and finally bring raw vidro shooting to DSLR

They don't give a shit about Sony, lumix etc... But when other big hitting still cameras make a move, they might follow
