  1. Seems like good hardware spoiled by poor software. @Zak Forsman How has your experience with the app been? I really wanted to like this gimbal since it is nice and lightweight.. Most of the other new gimbals seem quite heavy.
  2. The only reason I can think of them doing this, is that they don't want to kill the m43 sales. Which makes sense from a marketing perspective. I think most people using the GH5 would abandon it for a FF version. But it's a bit of a pity for us if this is the case.
  3. I know. But according to dpreview: "The company says the 24MP S1 is expected to be used around 70% for stills and 30% for video, targeting people such as wedding photographers and photojournalists. The S1R will be "purely for photographers," the company says, with landscape, commercial and portrait photographers being explicitly named." And then there is that funny 3-axis LCD screen, which seems nice for photography, but not so nice for video. Also, DFD autofocus.
  4. Apparently, something like this: https://***URL removed***/reviews/fujifilm-x-t3-first-impressions-review/3 A bit of a disappointment in my opinion. I prefer the GH5 one. About the sensor, not sure its is confirmed, but I thought one of the rumors specifically said they were NOT using a sony sensor but that it was a panasonic one.
  5. I don't think they really mentioned any except for 4k60p. Details were pretty sparse. But it *seemed* like the new cameras are more focused on photography than video.

    The Fusion thread

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of good training for Fusion out there. I did find a couple of good tuts on youtube, but its definitely got a pretty steep learning curve. I think this is the best intro video I've seen. It actually made me understand what was possible with the software.
  7. I don't think people hate it. It's just not terribly exciting on paper. Its too early to really judge yet though. I'd say the reaction to the Nikon is lukewarm. The Canon on the other hand... now there might be some hate there. I'd recommend waiting to see what the Panasonic announcement brings. Its the last big imminent announcement I think, and it could very well steal the show.
  8. Quite surprised by the specs on this camera. It sounds like it is about 3 years late. With the not particularly inspiring Nikon and now Canon announcements, Panasonic seems to be in a prime position. If they announce something that is basically a Full Frame GH5 , they will really be ahead of the game.
  9. Not really sure why I'm getting downvoted for this.. .I understand that for some people its an unimportant feature in a camera like this. I'm just saying for me personally, its the only thing stopping it being a pretty perfect camera for me. Still not a deal breaker by any means, but it would be great to have it, in my opinion. What's wrong with that?
  10. Are there any comparisons of 8-bit vs 10-bit not using VLog?
  11. A question for those more technically knowledgeable than me, do you think sony ibis will be able to perform as well as m43 (gh5) in the near future? Is it a limitation of processing power, or an inherent limitation in the sensor mechanics itself?

    DJI Ronin S

Yes. I personally am hoping they make a lighter version for smaller setups. I love the features of the ronin-s, but its a bit overkill for me.
  13. If you have the V2 crane also, I'd love to know how they compare. Especially things like difference in weight etc.. Thanks!
  14. If he said the highlights looked bad would that be ok? Yes its a personal opinion, but what's wrong with that? Its not like it was a personal attack or directed at anyone. He's talking about the technical quality of the image.
  15. For greenscreen it should be fine. Maybe even give you more ability to crop in post depending on what you want.
  16. I wonder how he did that long exposure hyper-lapse. Seems like it would be quite difficult logistically.
  17. So, it seems to have been suggested that 2.7k on the mavic may produce better results than 4k due to the low bitrate. Is that correct?
  18. I'm also wondering about this. The polarpro ones seem pretty well regarded, but they are a bit more expensive than the other ones. I haven't used the DJI ones, but they look really fiddly. I've also been wondering about the optical quality of the PGY ones. I've seen some tests with some of the cheaper brands, and the quality seems pretty bad. Have you tried D-log? It used to be really muddy, but apparently its a lot better now.
  19. I don't think they would flag it for being a weird looking device. But if you do check it in, you might need to put the batteries in your carry on. I'm not sure how it is in the US for domestic flights, but some airlines don't like batteries in checked luggage these days. I have taken my drone on a lot of flights and kind of expected them to ask me about it, but they never did.
  20. After some suggestions here, I looked into using canon lenses plus speedboosters. But it seems like most of the useful lenses (like the sigma 18-35), are quite heavy and large, and then there's the added cost of speedboosters. So I think I will stick to mostly native lenses for now. It's an interesting option to have though.
  21. Does anyone know if there is a tool like this (or optical flow) in resolve?
  22. Seems like a very good gimbal. But also about 40% more expensive than the crane... I hope to see some reviews soon.
  23. That's actually a good idea. I don't know much about canon lenses though. Do you have any suggestions for some lenses that would work well with both systems (for video mostly). Preferably lenses that aren't too big/heavy.
  24. To me, it makes a lot of sense to use m43 for the tele end especially because of the 2x crop. To get similar focal lengths on FF would require HUGE lenses. And conversely, adapted wide lenses seem better suited to FF sensors (again because of the crop factor). Of course, you can shoot with wide native lenses on m43 though. There are just less options. Zooms vs primes are a preference. But IMO, m43 has some advantages with zooms because of the much smaller lenses. Of course, I would still use primes on a m43 system. But I find that I am more reluctant to use zooms on the sony FF.
