  1. I think that sounds like a good setup. I forgot about the Samyang fisheye. I have that too actually, but didnt think about using it in crop mode (I assume you mean the ex.tele option?) to mitigate some distortion. Thanks for the tip! The new PL 8-18 looks nice.. but a bit too expensive IMO. I also wanted to get the PL100-400 but couldn't afford it right now, so went for the 100-300. Hopefully in the future. Thanks. I'll have to consider the 15mm too. I would prefer the option of AF since I will be doing travel run and gun stuff mostly. But in some cases, manual lenses are a good option I think. I have the OM 50/1.4 already and I like it a lot. Also the OM 135/2.8 is nice on FF. I haven't used it on the GH5 yet.
  2. Ideally for both stills and video, but with the emphasis on video. I also shoot with the A7RII so that is my main stills camera, but I only have primes for it. So for a general walkaround lens and telephoto, I plan to use the m43 kit. I feel that is what the m43 system is ideal for (in terms of stills). For video, I decided to get the GH5 even though the A7Rii has very good quality, because of a few reasons. Mainly, the articulating screen, slow mo, stabilization, and usability (I find the user interface etc much easier and enjoyable to use on the Panasonic and Olympus cams). I plan to still use the Sony for low light, shallow DOF, and gimbal work. For everything else, the GH5. Hopefully I can match the footage fairly easily in post. But I will have to see what ends up happening in reality. It would be much easier to just stick with one system, but there's a lot of things I really miss about the m43 system when I use only the Sony. And I can't give up the stills and low light IQ of the FF Sony now... So I am stuck carrying two systems for now. If Sony adds an articulating screen and better stabilization in the future.. I will re-evaluate.
  3. I'm curious to know what your main go to lenses are for your GH5 (or will be if you don't have the camera yet). Personally, I was all set to get the 12-60 /2.8-4 but I'm having second thoughts now..especially because the aperture seems to go to f4 very quickly. I actually regret selling my Oly 12-40 /2.8. I also have the Panasonic 100-300 II for telephoto stuff. And I think i'll pick up a used 25mm/1.4. I also have a couple of OM lenses (50/1.4, 135/2.8). I also have the oly 9-18 which I'm not sure if I'll keep yet or not. I guess a lot of people here are using adapted lenses with speedboosters, which is very tempting. But I need to keep size/weight to a minimum for my work. But back to the topic, what is your main lens for using with the GH5?
  4. Wow! First of all, I'm very impressed by your videos! Great work there. I know how much time and effort must go into making it. I did make a post at timelapsenetwork a couple of weeks ago. But it seems like it is not a very active forum? In any case, I eventually came to the conclusion that you also mentioned. The shooting stage is so critical. I also didn't help myself by choosing an extremely difficult situation for my first attempt. (I was attempting to shoot a hyperlapse along a curving path with no constant fixed points I could use. In the end, I did manage to get a half decent stabilized image. But I definitely need to spend a lot more time practicing this technique.
  5. It seems like a number of sellers on Ebay are already selling the V2 if the pictures are to be believed.
  6. It seems like the new fairlight audio in Resolve could replace Audition. At least from what I can gather from their marketing video.
  7. Yeah I'm thinking the same. This and the soundfield mic were announced 4 months ago, and since then haven't heard a peep. I need a videomic, so I've been waiting.. .but I'm wondering if it is ever going to come out now.
  8. What is the issue with the workflow using GH5 files? Is it something that you can't get around by using another NLE? Adobe software can be really frustrating sometimes. When it works its great... but a LOT of the time it seems to not work. Or not as it should anyway.
  9. Do new announcements at NAB usually come during the first couple of days, or could be anytime up until the 27th?
  10. If they had got it to 24fps instead of 20fps it could have been pretty interesting for video...
  11. I'm wondering the same thing actually. I was about ready to order the Crane when I saw the Moza. It looks good on paper, but unfortunately there aren't really any real reviews yet. So I guess its a bit of a gamble, until more people can get their hands on them.
  12. Just wondering if anyone knows a good forum for hyperlapse post production? (and post production in general). I've googled, but the only ones which come up seem pretty dead, with only a few posts in the last few months.. Hoping someone here knows where to go for advice on these things (especially for after effects).

    Moza Air Gimbal

I don't suppose anyone has had a change to play with this yet? Seems like a promising addition to the market and very good value. I'm wondering how it will compare to the Zhiyun crane. So far, there seems to be only one video on youtube about it:
  14. Has anyone used this gimbal with the GH5 yet? I've seen some comments that it might be some difficulty mounting this camera on the gimbal. Seems like the camera is a bit large or something? I'm not sure what the issue is exactly, but I'm hoping someone here can confirm whether there is any problem or not. Thanks!
  15. My main concern would be using it on a gimbal with a fairly wide aperture. But even doing something like vlogging.. if it is a moving shot with a narrow DOF, a reliable AF-C seems pretty important. For most other stuff, I'd be ok with going to manual focus.
  16. Thank you for posting this. Do you notice a big difference with regards to AF and IS between the two lenses? If the 12-40 can keep up reasonably well in those two areas, I think I can live with the shorter reach... But if not, I think I will definitely have to get the 12-60. Thanks!
  17. This is much better. Not perfect. But definitely usable. The results of AF tests I've seen seem all over the place. Some of them suggest it is terrible, and others seem pretty good.. I wonder what's going on.
  18. I'm hoping there are some settings he didn't have right for this test, because the AF performance here is pretty disappointing Also a bit concerned that the camera will not fit correctly on the Zhiyun Crane (he mentioned it a bit earlier in the video). Still usable, but not ideal.
  19. To avoid vignetting on an UWA lens, would I be better off getting the exact filter size for that lens, or getting a bigger filter and using step up ring?
  20. Thank you for the advice joema, I will keep those points in mind. I found this one on ebay which seems like it might be decent, seems to tick all the boxes. I think its probably the same as the one ntblowz mentioned. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZOMEI-HD-Slim-Fader-72mm-MC-Adjustable-Neutral-Density-ND2-ND4-to-ND400-Filter-/171299935275?hash=item27e245942b:g:6sAAAOxyeZNTSp9c
  21. Oh, one more question, is there any vignetting with UWA lenses (like the 16-35mm FF sony lens for example) with filters like the tiffen?
  22. Thanks, unfortunately they don't ship to Japan
  23. Oh ok. I couldn't find MC ones on ebay, just the standard one. I'll see if I can find it somewhere else. Thanks
  24. Well it seems like Variable NDs aren't a thing in Japan. I've just been to a big camera store and they didn't even know what they were! After I explained it to them, they understood but said it would have to be special ordered from the manufacturer and could take quite some time... I guess I'll have to order off ebay then. Have you compared the Zomei to more expensive ones? It is only about $25, seems like it would be too cheap.
  25. Thanks for the advice guys. It seems like I should go for a more expensive one like the tiffen. All the brands mentioned here seem around the same price. Does anyone have any experience with any of the Japanese brands like Kenko?
