  1. Nice work here Andrew with the NX1. The first tests I saw of these were unfortunately of the 35mm wide open on a Full Frame camera. Needless to say that did not make a great first impression. They look very nice in your tests. Did you shoot the majority of it at 5.6? I do hope they eventually ad a 28 to this group, 35mm with a 1.33 stretch is not enough for some narrative projects.
  2. I really think the D750 is the best option unless you feel the need for RAW. Great image, 60p, very little RS, and small files that grade very well. Also Nikon glass can be adopted to anything, so if you get another camera in the future you won't have to sell your glass. The BMMCC needs an external moniter and can't be used for stills at all, which seems to strike your interest.
  3. Congrats! Hope you enjoy the camera!
  4. Another option that others have said has worked is this. Get into the dev mode menu using this cheat and do the reset from there.
  5. If you have speed grade you can push the file much further there by dynamically linking it. Love Resolve, but don't have money to upgrade to pro right now, otherwise I would do so for the color chart support alone.
  6. The hack is not publicly available yet.
  7. Did a similar test. Ridiculously over and under exposed. I'm astounded. Given the lighting source I'm guessing we are looking at 800 iso or higher.
  8. Can't wait to try this myself. I have the UHS-II card if I can give it a go for testing.

Some great samples here and the advice is good. But the rolling shutter and this heat issue make the camera a complete no-go for me. :/
  10. I think 200 would be a good pro option. Even if Class 10 UHS-1 can hit 240 you don't want to ride the edge of your card speed.
  11. I saw Your amazing man, job very well done!

  13. Seriously give me a paypal donate button if you succeed. My hat's off to you sir.
  14. I know many fellow filmmakers that were waiting and decided on this 4.6K just for the global shutter feature. They should be rightfully angry that BM lied about this feature, wasting there time and money. Even if they can "just not buy it" it's still horrible business practice, and they should rightfully be taken to task for this so it never happens again. Like I said in my previous post, their product launches in the future are forever tainted by this. They announce some incredible new feature in their next camera and the defaul answer from anyone with intelligence will be "I'll believe it when I see it BM."
  15. Wow, way to break trust of your product launches in the future. "It will be 4.6K with global shutter! *If we can get it working*" It's still a great camera, but they really need to stop over promising like this. Also in this video they should have stressed how good the rolling shutter is, it does look great even handheld so the rolling shutter is good compared to competition. Also it looks like the mount to get is PL because it can be removed, and that means 3rd party adapters for Nikon and other mounts.
  16. No. Stop repeating this. Camera's have a mechanical shutter that prevent rolling shutter artifacts with CMOS sensors. It's why silent mode on the A7 series DOES have rolling shutter in photo mode. https://www.quora.com/Why-do-DSLR-cameras-need-shutters

Underlit and not at all flattering. :/

Completely agree, RS is amplified with longer lenses. No way your shooting nature effectively with that RS performance unless you use stabilized lenses.
  19. Walkthrough for removing time limit. Might redo this in english.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?303559-Measuring-rolling-shutter-put-a-number-on-this-issue! The rolling shutter on my NX1 drives me up the wall sometimes, there is no way I'm investing in a camera with ~24% worse rolling shutter than that.
  21. In certain focus pulling situations this will be incredibly useful. Thanks Otto! Great to see continued work on this project.
  22. I know you probably did not mean it that way, but many of your posts seemed to say that other glass were not even worth consideration with the camera. You said you "had to get rid of" your Canon FD's because of the sensor. I don't want people to think the NX1 isn't an option unless you purchase the most expensive glass possible, because I don't find that to be true.
  23. I'm sorry, I'm going to have to completely disagree with kidzrevil on this topic, I've shot on both Nikon AI and Canon FD and gotten great results. I don't think you need razor sharp lenses for the camera. The canon FD 28mm works great on the camera. Do the sharp ones pop more and work better with H265? Yes. That does not mean they are unusable.
  24. Yeah I agree, I have the 28, 40, and 90 and they all match in terms of look. Thought the 58 1.4 would be great, but aside from it's aperture it does not match the other lenses, and stopped down it reads as too sharp compared to the others, I like it for photos on my Nikon camera, don't enjoy using it as much on the NX1. Still need that 20mm to complete the set.
