But all legitimate cinema cameras are still APS-C. As far as photography goes, it probably should be dead.

Wow..Kristoferman. "The 4K bug is definitely hitting the otherwise unwashed masses".
What a frightening (and true) statement for a lot of filmmakers. I know FOUR off the top of my head that are shooting as we speak on HD (narrative film). They've got their entire fortunes/bank accounts into their art. And some other people's money!!! Christ almighty it could get ugly.
This conversation would scare the hell out of them.  And what director Eli Roth said about 4K distribution. See post/link above.
    The landscape is changing. Fast.

Who cares what kids think?  The illusion isn't broken for them because they barely grasp the concept of illusion.  If the sets don't look real it doesn't matter to a child because it doesn't even cross their minds that it isn't real.
Once the curtain is pulled away and you lose your child like sense of wonderment, HFR narrative ceases to be convincing.  HFR action sports works because its actually real life and no illusion needs to be created.
I don't think 24P is going anywhere until the film industry itself evolves into something other than watching moving pictures on a large screen.

Your point would hold more weight if the original fast and furious wasn't an awful movie. At least the new ones have spectacle. Way more than I can say about the franchise before Fast 5

    $50k! Now you're asking....
    I would do this:
Get the C300 Mk II as A cam. The 1DC used as a B cam.  The A7S as a creative all-round tool.  Zeiss Prime Set from Duclos lenses or similar - EF or Nikon Mount.  2 decent zoom lenses to cover the full range.  2 Kino Flo 4-Banks. (get some chroma tubes too) 3-head Arri Lighting Kit. Scorpion Light Complete Set. Gels/Diffuser/Polyboard/Reflector. Ronin Gimbal & EasyRig.  Oddyssey 7Q+ + sony + canon license.  Sound - not sure on models but (wireless transmitter, lavalier, boom, shotgun, external recorder).  Studio - get a DIY space, grab some friends and build your own green screen etc.

I do have a portfolio. A few local televised commercials, some dance videos, stuff I did for my previous employer, and then an FX reel.
And I would never spend 50K on a camera right now. This is for an entire setup.

actually this company who makes astronomy cameras founded a project about 5 years ago who's goal was to make digital cinema cameras
after the first prototype was successfully produced and tested, Kinefinity Inc. was founded as an independent company (co-owned to a majority by the initial developers)

It's still significantly cheaper than red though, even considering the extra charges. From what I've seen I like the image more than red too. Only thing really stopping me is the lack of customer service for the US

Really wish it was a s35 sensor with a m43 mount. Choosing between EF and PL is a concern. I have Nikon lenses at the moment but would like to pick up some EF glass at some point but also want PL glass in the future. A more adaptable mount would have been nice.

Comes with the necessary clamp and yes you definitely need to have rails for this beast.

These kinefinity cameras are so tempting. Just annoying that nobody speaking English seems to use them!

if you take it for what it is and shut off your brain during the science talk, i found Lucy to be quite an entertaining movie that took a lot of risks that you won't find often in Hollywood.  I very much enjoyed it.

Kristoferman got a reaction from Wedookayfilms in Lens recommendation needed

GH2 is normally like a 1.89 or so crop vs. full frame 35mm.  So for any given focal length, you'd have to double it to get the equivalent frame of view in 35mm terms.
Example...a 50mm lens on the GH2 will be approximately equivalent to a 100mm lens on a full frame camera in regards to FOV.  Makes it difficult to go wide, and especially difficult to go wide and fast.
Speed boosters effectively eliminate some of the crop factor.  For the GH2, it takes the crop down to 1.3, which is actually more than the super 35 cinema standard.   So the same 50mm lens would go from 100mm on the GH2 down to about a 65mm. So you can go wider!
Also, it allows for approx. 1 more stop of light to hit the sensor.  So it not only makes your lenses wider, it makes them faster!  An F2.8 turns into an F2. An F1.4 turns into an F1.0. Etc. etc.

    I hope I've been helpful.

Personally i'm disappointed with the quality of testing. You don't charge $3000+ for a product and then shoot pillars and DVD cases. I don't think it's too much to ask to get some real-world tests up. With people. Just not the right way to show off the quality of your product. And all of these new items have no tests at all. You post up "product demos" that are just CG fly-bys of what the products will look like. You may be a great engineer, but you definitely need some help with the marketing aspect.

Trying to be genuinely helpful too, please don't take it as an attack.
