Hi everyone, sincere apologies if this has already been posted. I'm on my phone and the search function doesn't seem to work..
Just got my GH5 today and I can't playback the footage in Quicktime or Davinci Resolve. I don't have another editing app on my home computer so can't be sure if the files playback in premiere or FCP. They seem to playback in apple motion. I have the camera set to 4k 10 bit 422. I can't seem to find much info online. Has anyone else experienced this?
Any input from GH5 users would be welcome.

Does anyone know how far 2.8 goes with the 12-60?

Shot 10bit Internal handheld on Panny-Leica 12-60...at least I already have the lens Hardly a review though...just wanted to post the clip.

Is it really prores? I'm really not sure. I just got my camera, I am going through the settings, and will start to shoot tomorrow. I only tried to play back Luke's footage from the pre release model, my 2010 MBP died immediately :D 

Export a master file from FCPX (best quality) and then upload that straight to YouTube. Cut the MPEG Streamclip out of the equation and see what happens.

I have the E-M1, so the 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO came with it. It's a very well-built lens and I love the MF de-clutch and optical solid character. From what I had gathered back then, there wasn't that much reason to be getting the 12-35mm f/2.8 apart from the stabilization, so I never gave it a whirl, really. The new Leica? I don't really like the fall-off to f/4 and I believe it's not really up to the quality and character of the recent Leica gems (mainly primes). With the G80 I went with the kit, because importing it from the UK, I basically got it with a free 12-60mm Lumix lens (which is weathersealed btw), 64GB card and battery grip for body only mainland EU prices. The Lumix 12-60mm provides a very useful range and does okay in daylight for like photography. Even for video it's not terrible, as you do gain that Dual IS compatibility, but you might not use if for more than homevideos. The Leica. Well, not sure, the range is nice, but if it doesn't have those Leica qualities and falls off to f/4, then I hardly have better use for it than the cheaper Lumix. Since I don't own the 12-35mm f/2.8... it seems that for the GH5, it would make sense to get the newer version, of course, I could just still be using the Olympus, as now we have sensor stabilization. But having had the oppertunity to try out Dual IS, I can't deny that it's really really good compared to sensor stabilization alone. Of course, if you have the older one, you still get Dual IS, just not Dual IS 2, which shouldn't make the world of difference.

Than the 12-40? Yes, obviously (it's a Panasonic's home game where you'd gain hybrid IS). The 12-35mm? Well. Supposedly you'd get the new one for weathersealing (freezeproof), cosmetic changes and the improved iris control only. I thought the old one would only be Dual IS compatible, not Dual IS 2. But he de-bunked me on that one earlier (see video), so...
Guess with either of the 12-35mm f/2.8 you're good too. Unless you like the 12-60mm range and don't mind the fall-off to f/4. Both support Power OIS + Dual IS 2.

The improvement if Canon brought C-LOG themselves to the 5D Mark IV would be in the region of 5%.
Hardly exciting news.

Both 12-40 and 40-150 are (optically) exceptional lenses. The only drawback is that the 40-150 has a focus ring not precise like the 12-40, especially when focusing from far to infinity. I sold it some days ago in order to buy some Zeiss... I miss it but I can live with a slower zoom...

I got 12-40mm at end because : manual clutch focus, unlike 12mm 2.0's stepping focus this one is smooth, good for follow focusing, and constant F2.8 is needed for indoor.
 
Also oly 12-40mm @ 12mm is a bit wider than 12-60 @ 12

I sold my 5inch Video Assist after ecording both GH4 and G7 on it.
The files from GH4 were not really better then internal, the G7's were a lot worst. I tried on a second unity, same results. Not the same thing on an Atomos... so I sold it... (just my personal experience, nothing scientific).  

I tried on my G7 with my VA, and after the bad experience I tried with the same units from a colleague, also changing HDMI cable.
When recorded on the VA the G7 had a strong noise pattern. Not on the Atomos. But I cannot afford the Atomos, so I'm recording on SD and I'm very happy with the G7 (the only drawback is that you cannot use HDMI for monitoring, you can only record, while with GH4 you can do it). 

Anyway I'm a big fan of Lumix quality, even if I love the BlackMagic ProRes from Micro Cinema Camera, which I sold for the unpractical (for me) workflow. 

For the way I work, GH4 (which I sold in order to buy the GH5), G7 etc... are the best way and I love them.

I think that shooting with @andy lee settings you have the freedom to do pretty much what you want in post.

I tried to match G7 files with BlackMagic Micro (straight from the card) files in 5 minutes

I just can imagine what you can do with the new GH5 and a solid V-Log!

p.s.: Andy, what about GH5's 24p ProRes files playback/preview without transcoding? I tried Luke Neumann's files and I cannot played them in preview. Thank you!

Love the bmmcc, shoot with it most of the time, but the handling sucks!

I´m not looking for the better quality, i just love prores and how smooth it is to edit and i don´t want to add a render step to my post.
Bad to hear that it is worse with the G7, anyone also noticed something like this?
