Huge fckn deal ! The colors out of the XT2 were gorgeous ! Some of the best I’ve seen out of all the camera manufacturers

I've always wanted an xt2 but the lack of ibis was a dealbreaker for me because most if not all of my work is done handheld. When this comes out im getting this with the fuji-nikon speedbooster

@Cliff Totten please keep in mind that the sony a6500 is downscaling from a 6k sensor. That negates alot of the visible noise. I hope this gh5s does clean 6400 iso

@jonpais holy shit that looks great ? so much dynamic range yet still contrasty The voigtlander is one of the best lenses I’ve owned. I miss it. The mf feels very precise

I hope they do up the bitrates. As great as our cameras are they are extremely limited in fidelity because of youtube compression !

Some scenes are less than 12 stops. Shooting those in HDR would be a waste the same way shooting LOG in low contrast scenarios are. I’ve watched content on my HDR display and some of it looks worse than the SDR content. I have no clue why because my playstation games look way better in HDR than SDR so its a very hit or miss technology right now. There aren’t even reference patterns to calibrate a tv for HDR right now and HDR10 looks different than Dolby Vision HDR. Some displays are even trying to use dynamic contrast styled trickery to convert sdr content to hdr. This is why im sticking to my decision that its too early for HDR, you don’t know what peoples display is doing to your content. SDR is more predictable

Bingo ! I’ve always liked how you expose your images. When you know what you are doing 10 stops is plenty !

@wolf33d The Panasonic and Sony ecosystems are by far the most exciting to watch right now. I have hope that this will indeed be a GH5 low light variant that confirms at least some of these rumors. The way Panasonic has been putting out bodies right now is almost tactical. They seem to be targeting every rival companies flagship models i.e. the pana g9 vs the olynpus high end model cameras. This will no doubt spark a response from Sony with something epic but I have high hopes from Panasonic. When they drop a camera they cover all grounds and really pay attention to what the film making community wants as we all seen with the GH5 plus their major firmware update for it. M43 filmmakers wan't better low light and I have a feeling Panasonic will fill that void . imagine the gh5s being like a mini varicam in dslr form factor

If this is real im selling every body I have and picking one of these up. Done and done. This is my dream camera

It looks much cleaner graded ! @PannySVHS does that still fit rec2020 or is that graded for rec709 ?

@Terry Lee yup that used to me ! I cared about sharpness and only sharpness and spent a ton on zeiss milvus glass ??‍♂️ What killed me is the fact that a lot of that lens sharpness gets softened because of youtube/vimeo compression so it defeated the purpose of having such lenses. Contax Zeiss glass really showed me what 3D pop was about and rendered completely different from my milvus set. I’ve since jumped to old nikkor pre ai glass which are single coated and lack most optical correction seen in modern lenses. The 3D pop and microcontrast are way more noticeable even when watching compressed footage than lens sharpness is so I’ve been real happy with old nikkors on a speedbooster. the voigtlander set for micro 4/3rds is phenomenal. If you have them keep them ! They are liked a suped up super 16mm lens with 3D pop,contrast,great color rendering and sharpness. I miss my voigtlander m43 lenses even over the leica m voigtlander set I owned

As much as I want to get into sigma lenses they have too much optical correction which leads to a very flat image. I had the sigma 18-35mm and quickly returned it. They are sharp as hell and super contrasty which pretty much fits what the modern shooter looks for in a lens. You don’t notice how flat the image is until you start shooting glass with less optical correction such as old contax zeiss for example. One sigma I do have my eye on though is the 30mm f2.8 art lens because it is the same design as the lens on the sigma quatro body.

a draft of a video im working on for rushcard. Its shot with the Panasonic G80 with natural profile and simple color correction. Lenses used are the nikkor auto 55mm f1.2 (nippon kogaku) and the nikkor auto 28mm f2 w/ tiffen satin filter & metabones speedbooster xl. I love how the speedbooster adds contrast back to old glass !

@mercer the nikkor 35mm f1.4 with speedbooster is pretty good. The speedbooster adds contrast to the lens and clears up some of that vieling flare. That’s why I’ve been hooked on the speedbooster, it helps eliminate most of the defects of vintage glass. Its more apparent on vintage glass than the modern stuff. As far as the nikkor 35mm f1.4 goes I prefer the pre ai one for its rendering and handling @noone

Spoke to a cashier at B&H yesterday. An old dude, he’s really into old lenses like minolta’s,leica & zeiss. He seen my nikkor auto lenses and had to inquire. One of the main things he mentioned is that they have a very specific color rendering the same way zeiss is known for their color from hardcore photographers. I decided to upload some shots straight out of the camera to see if I can pick up on the signature color rendering of old nikkor glass. I notice it has a warm look to em which compliments the skin well. These are the nikkor auto 55mm f1.2 & nikkor auto 28mm f2 pre ai with metabones speedbooster xl and tiffen satin filtration.

Totally agree ! Recently I upgraded to a 43” LG 4K HDR set and puts you in a different zone editing on a biggger display. Your content on a bigger screen will truly test the quality of your work and it even changes how you visualize things before you shoot it cause you have to imagine how it would look on the big screen. Also the little nuances people tend to zoom into 300% to see become negligible on the bigger screen. Not to be long winded but the last thing editing on a bigger display taught me is you have to factor in the PICTURE SETTINGS on peoples display. Now when I grade I use 2 presets on my tv : one thats calibrated using a bluray calibration disc and one at the tv’s default settings with the sharpness up. Now I see exactly how my in camera adjustments effect not only my workflow but how people will view my content

Does anyone know anything about the new SLR Magic compact anamorphic ? I always here mixed things about slr magic but that anamorphic has my interest !

Im considering in selling my whole kit for a gh5 now that I’ve upgraded my computer. Im starting to prefer the image and usability of my G85 over my sony a6500. Pana bodies are so easy to work with & reliable I grab a pana body for paid shoots and sony for my personal projects. I may just sell my g85 only and upgrade to a gh5 and use my sony as a b cam

@anonim huh ? What was the polaroid you’ve seen that looked like that ? ? the blacks were crushed and the color tone was cool & saturated that is far off from how polaroids look

I loved the canon FD lenses honestly. The color’s are so warm and the contrast is perfect on low dynamic range cameras ! The only reason I haven’t invested in them again is because there was no speedbooster xl for them ! The Canon FD L series of lenses were the best to me as well as the 35mm f2 ssc @PannySVHS Have you tried the tiffen black diffusion fx ?

Fuji camera color rendering sounds promising to me. It looks like the closest thing to film on digital bodies
