I have this gut feeling that samsung wants to sell sensor tech instead of selling new cameras. The nx1 sensor is still way ahead of its time imagine if they made one for nikon or pentax or something idk...they could really bring one of these old companies back from the dead with their tech

@Deadcode how do you switch to 12 bit ? I've been searching high and low trying to figure this out !!! Also is there a way to force the dng to display the image as the picture profile it was shot with ? I really love visioncolor picture profile and would like to work off of that in post @Mattias Burling @Django magic lantern has been reliable since like the t3i LOL besides ML Raw has been around for so long its expected that an open source community like that would have the problem under control

@DaveAltizer Good stuff man that 1dc image is glorious ! I had a contax zeiss set in my NX1 days but I recently settled on some nikkon pre ai prime lenses. I love the look of the image and the fact that they all use 52mm filters.I REALLY love the image of the voigtlanders on the 5D though the seperation is hard to explain. You get so much depth of field even in their wide angles it almost reminds me of shooting anamorphic

@webrunner5look at all that detail hidden in those raw files. Wow what was the result of that test ? They all looked good

@mercer I’ve been using the auto ettr feature at -0.5 im gonna test it more tonight.I love the results im getting out of it so far. Hopefully my theory that the tiffen black diffusion fx will take care of the highlight aliasing I see in my footage is true

@Deadcode yeah pretty much what @webrunner5 said I would just use this camera for special stuff ! Fashion vids and stuff like that shot with quick cuts and short takes. Things like documentaries,music videos and other shoots that require long takes I’ll take out my Sony a6500. These things are just tools after all, get the right one for the right job ?

@DaveAltizer I would love to see some of your old 5d footage sometime ! What are you shooting with now ? @Vision thanks ! I’m gonna do another test soon Thanks man ! I was shocked at the image. It honestly performed way above my expectations ! It seems like the 5D had some secret sauce hidden in the sensor that the ML RAW Lets us tap into. It has a “film” like feel to it @webrunner5 too bad I dont know how to grade in adobe camera raw

@seku gonna give the higher res stuff a shot ! Im so in love with the 1080p I can only imagine how the high res mode looks @Papiskokuji hmm it could be the way the DNG’s are being processed. I only see it around high contrast areas hence my desire for more diffusion. I settled on using a tiffen black diffusion fx. It sucks for 4K but I like the results in 1080p and it almost eliminated the binning problem in my rough test. @PannySVHS true, I seen great stuff from those guys. Either way I was planning on using heavier diffusion because I like how the older tiffen’s smoothen out a 1080p image. You don’t need a lot of resolution for 1080 so its worth it

@Stathman I think those blown highlights were user error. I tried not to underexpose in camera even though I am shooting raw

@PannySVHS I was in love when I sat down with the image in post. Completely in love ! After reviewing the footage on a big screen I do see that I need to use heavier diffusion to fight the pixel binning in the 1080p image. Im gonna try using a heavy grade tiffen black diffusion fx and see how far I can push the image ?

Hmmm do you think learning davinci resolve is worth it for this workflow ? I’ve been putting off resolve for a while now @seku

So I finally took a huge leap of faith and picked up a Canon 5D mark iii with 2 voigtlander pancake lenses. So far the image quality in its RAW video mode is astounding. You have a ridiculous amount of flexibility when it comes to grading the files in post. When comparing to today's 4k mirrorless cameras what you lose in resolution you gain in dynamic range and color fidelity. I have settled on converting the files to cinema dng and working with them in premiere. I have no clue how to save changes made in adobe camera raw so I am settling on getting the image looking right using LUT's in premiere pro. Does anyone else shoot RAW on the Canon 5D ? What is your workflow ? How do you feel about the image ? Do you think it holds up to today's standards ? this was shot with the voigtlander 40mm f2 and a tiffen black satin filter btw. I also used neat video to reduce the noise although there was not much noise to begin with. The iso range was from 100-6400

@Andrew Reid ugh I forgot about that ! Vimeo is ad free ! Is it just me or has youtube advertising gotten a little more aggressive lately ?

@markr041 the only other advantage I can think of is the fact that there are less trolls on vimeo and you can customize the aesthetic of the player. The minute youtube allows you to customize their video player like vimeo its a wrap. Put the nail in the coffin for vimeo
